I’m putting together a gift for my mum for xmas with beauty things, but probs also things like a nice pack of tea, biscuits, chocs, socks etc (so a bit random). Has anyone ever done a hamper like this but put it together in something other than just a standard basket? You MNers seem to have all the best ideas for hampers!

Last year I think people were using Seasalt-type hessian bags.

Also places like Home Bargains have lots of storage boxes and bags options other than traditional wicker eg . Pastel coloured metal mesh baskets with leather handles.

We paired ro DD’s iphone whilst walking to the bus ( v easy).I followed the instructions to take them both out of the case, found them on Bluetooth setting on iPhone -“typotwsearbuds” or something similar- selected connect and they worked. They disconnect when put back in case and reconnect when out again. HTH

@WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks Oh yes I see! That is a bargain tbf. Thanks for the ideas, will have a look at both options. She has that type of furniture that contains baskets as part of the design so I just feel it may be a bit much to give her a basket!

@VolcanicProtectorMan Dunelm and Amazon had hamper basket kits for a few pound last year incl basket, the clear bags and bows.

Alternatively if your DM is a gardener a small plant trough might be nice. You can get the indoor ones that are painted/decorated. Amazon has one and if you have DC they might want to make and decorate one for you from Baker Ross

@VolcanicProtectorMan - I did this for my mum last year but did her a stocking - got a very stretchy wool type one from Amazon and wrapped them individually. She loved it! Obviously doesn’t work if she already gets a stocking …

From that Matalan link earlier I went on and saw the homeware sale managed to get some magnetic calendars for presents for £4 for two toddlers, and a ‘learn to recycle’ game for DD for £2.40. Free click and collect too. Very happy.

@PostPopper @VolcanicProtectorMan I went to B&M this week to do exactly this. My parents are in their eighties and really struggling at the moment. I've been given strict instructions not to buy anything. I was hoping I could buy a stocking and pop.in some little treats like bamboo/cashmere socks, chocolates they really like, maybe some nice foodie things. We have had a pretty awful year and I can't let another one pass without something.
