@Twonka my DS was the same. Adamant he wanted a cat. Didn't want anything for his birthday apart from a cat.

We bought him a tamagotchi! Remember those!

He does love it but the first day he did ask us how we switch it off as it was pestering him for something Grin

Our traditions are in flux as a separated last year so last christmas was a bit strange with exh here for the 1st one. DD has asked for us to make some new traditions for our new little family.
I always do (every year since DD was 2 and she's now 14)
Christmas eve boxes early afternoon (we go for a walk and arrive home to them... Magic 😉) with pj, toiletries, sweet treats/popcorn, new film and all the old Christmas eve books and stockings are in it too.
Christmas morning they have stockings, opened on my bed, usually bit of junky of lego blind bags, lip scrub, Costa card, socks, coin, orange.
Then we go downstairs to presents under the tree, each person has their own wrapping paper. We take it in turns to open, usually mid way through opening well stop and have breakfast.

Got any animals you can adopt at a local rescue/farm that you could visit regularly? Don’t want to lie to you though- they don’t give up that easily I’m afraid.

Tinysnickers · 12/09/2021 21:54

@oatmilkisntsobad Whittards do nice hot chocolate powder. The tins look nice as well.

MissCherryCakeyBun · 12/09/2021 22:08

Wrapping paper......I want to try and get wrapping as the presents arrive this year.
Has anyone seen any on offer yet?

Also suggestions for a 96yr FIL old who literally doesn't want anything. He doesn't read, drink or smoke, watches sport on TV ( golf tennis & football) but due to extreme forgetfulness can't concentrate to even read a magazine, other than that he tries to read the Telegraph and snoozes. He is now very frail and has not left the house due to Covid and having leukaemia ( in a static state) for 18 months. He has all the clothes he needs and has special slippers that are very new. I'm at a point where I just have totally run out of ideas. Last year I had prints done of family photos ( think 1950's) and framed for him and the year before got him a painting of the Dam Busters ( he was RAF in WW2) me and DH have totally gone blank. Suggestions are very very welcome

cymrumam · 12/09/2021 22:13

@MissCherryCakeyBun we bought my fil an Alexa which we linked to a mobile as he can't see to phone but he can also ask questions or listen to the radio

NigelSlatersXmasTaters · 12/09/2021 22:20

@MissCherryCakeyBun do you have any old VHS home videos? Max Spielmann will transfer them to DVD.

A nice afternoon tea at home with an old home video from years gone by might be nice

oatmilkisntsobad · 12/09/2021 22:40

Thanks @TheBestWhootersInWhoville I'll have a look

sorryiasked · 12/09/2021 22:46

PastelGiraffe · 12/09/2021 23:04

Good Lego set for younger kids: Lego City fire ladder truck toy with mini figures, down to £10 on Amazon and still seems to be full price (£17-18) elsewhere, but keep an eye out in case anywhere else price matches this.

Looks like this is a set for age 4+.

@MissCherryCakeyBun as you said he served in the RAF would he like something like contributing towards the fundraising to preserve a Vulcan aircraft. You can pay an amount to have a name engraved on the wings and the website says you get a certificate.

Brand Alley have Moulin Roty baby/soft toys on offer - really lovely, bit different and more quirky than jellycat.
Also have Anais Paris jewellery from Hot Diamonds.
