Has anyone heard if Selfridges are doing their mince pie advent calendar this year? If anybody bought it last year, what date did it go on sale?

Wolfcub · 12/09/2021 16:47

Just on the Hype thing I bough teen ds a load of stuff I. The sale this time last year (men's not kids). Everything was fine and arrived quickly. The quality of most things was really good - if I'm being picky I'd have said one hoody was slightly less nice than another because of differing materials but they were different prices.

Nanananani · 12/09/2021 16:47

@TheBestWhootersInWhoville have you had the mince pie advent before? DH got me it last year and I didn’t love it

Ewock · 12/09/2021 16:48

My H&B boxes did arrive but like a poster above they are a different box and products not a huge problem but I have emailed them about it, as it does feel like misrepresentation. Think I can still use it all however I had really wanted the shampoo bar. I'll let you all know what they say.

TheCrow · 12/09/2021 16:55

The Range had all their face masks reduced to 29p including some kids Christmas and Halloween designs

Also had these 180 page Christmas origami stacks for £1.29 which seemed like a good bargain!

Home bargains had some nice stuff in their crafty section- small scrapbooks for £1.99 and medium ones for £2.99, 5 rolls of washi tape for 79p, nice small books of decorative scrapbook paper for 99p.

Thanks to the poster who commented about the £5 off £25 in Lidl newspaper voucher. I used it on my food shopping and not anything christmassy but I bought about a fiver of stocking filler stuff in the other shops so I suppose it cancelled it out 😂

Does anyone have a link for the Asda £25 Lego pls? I’ve been looking but can’t find it, maybe they’ve sold out now? Thanks

AnotherOne4 · 12/09/2021 16:57

@irresistibleoverwhelm

Can I ask a question about the cinnamon buns? What are the packs like, m and what are the use by dates - can they be kept and given as a gift, say to teachers/friends etc? (That is, if I don’t eat them before then - have ordered some but they aren’t here yet!)
I ordered x3 of the Bun kits, and highly rate them. I made a batch last night. (If I had to say anything bad about them, it would be the time it took to make them. There are certain stages where you have to leave the dough to rise for a good hour or so. So making them at 7pm, like I did was a big mistake!) We ate half last night, and some this morning. Popped them in the microwave for 5-10 seconds, and tasted just as good. I would say you could give them as a gift, as they are a good size, so it feels like you are giving a substantial gift, IYSWIM My used by dates were May 2022.

Still a bargain, if anyone fancies them BUNS!

Gilead · 12/09/2021 17:11

My H&B box, also different but I’m okay with that.

Thanks to all for the telescope recommendations by the way. Some of those are a bit out of my price range so I may go with the book recommendations to bulk out what I already have on the space theme

Getoutofbed25 · 12/09/2021 17:34

Animalcrossing thank you, I just used the Quidco code, my son is delighted I’d told him he couldn’t get F1 2021 as too expensive but it was on sale today at cdkeys and with the cash back cost £12!

CarrieMoonbeams · 12/09/2021 17:43

@Gilead

My H&B box, also different but I’m okay with that.
That's a cracking buy. I've paid £14 for that Dr Organic Rose Otto in H&B, and I'm sure about £5 for the Faith in Nature hand and body lotion. Wish I'd bought one now!

Has anyone come across any bargain Lego Mario Power Ups by any chance?

torthecatlady · 12/09/2021 17:51

@nickdrakeslovechild It was me who posted the really useful mug initially.

£9.99 on Amazon at the moment and free delivery with prime or over £20 spend. So not as cheap, but no additional postage costs.

@dizzygirl1

Quick velvetiser question... Are they actually worth it? £80 on offer at the moment, it seems such a large amount of money to make hot chocolate but I really like the look of them, just seems a lot for a gadget.
I got one for my 15 year old dd last Christmas- she absolutely loves it and uses it most days even in the summer, we buy the Pendragon drinks chocolate from Amazon to use with it.

I got it from QVC when it was today's special value, used a referral code and paid £80 for the velvetiser, 2 cups and two boxes of chocolate flakes.

Raindancer411 · 12/09/2021 18:00

@5Minions2CallMyOwn They don't always have it all online.

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 12/09/2021 18:04

Question about the b&m stockings and sacks. Can you really get everything in them? They look quite small. Especially the sacks, one big box and it's full right? I have two little ones and all the toys are big and bulky. How do you incorporate the sacks?

Used to do t shirts, pencil cases etc

@ItsAllBlahBlahBlah

I have the stockings, a Christmas Eve box and this year I'll use the sacks as 1st December sack. You're right, it's not the biggest for small children who's presents are generally large ride ons/play kitchens/big Playmobil sets. I found that Christmas PJ's in the Christmas Eve box meant worn for Christmas morning, then sort of redundant because it's after Christmas then. So what I intend to do this year, is:

1st December sacks. To contain for all DC and DH and I: Advent calendar. Christmas PJs. For DTwins the Lanka Kade wooden Christmas figures (will come out each year as a tradition) and Christmas jumpers. This way it's a little bit special to receive, and, and we'll actually use everything for the whole of December.

Christmas Eve box: all cards we receive from the international card exchange we do are put in here and opened all together on Christmas Eve morning. There's all the wind up toys that DS has received in his stocking (1 a year for last 13yrs) Robert Sabuda pop up Night before Christmas. And everybody's empty stocking.

Stockings on Christmas morning will contain small items like this years wind up toy, little Rubik's cube, DTwins have the snail and whale toys, just a couple of nice little bits to open immediately upstairs all together. And I do mean only a couple of bits, there's plenty of presents under the tree, so a stocking stuffed full will be overwhelming for little DTwins.
