25% off everything at Joules until midnight with code YAY25 - lucky as DD has specifically asked for a pair off Joules slippers!

Impatientwino · 12/09/2021 20:24

Thank you all so much. So many great ideas, my Amazon basket is now groaning!

The buns are showing up for me at £12.99? Is that what other people have paid or have I missed a deal?

MsMiaWallace · 12/09/2021 20:25

The pound puppies take me back to the 90s!
Just wondered if my DS's would like them?

Cherryrainbow · 12/09/2021 20:29

I'm sure my local b&m think I'm a nutter- ive been turning up to search the xmas aisles like a blooming terminator every day and the sacks and stocking still aren't out lol x

AnotherOne4 · 12/09/2021 20:29

@Impatientwino the buns might have jumped back up in price. Keep checking, they do drop back down often.

Lovemusic33 · 12/09/2021 20:29

I want a pound puppy, I had the one that had babies in its tummy, has to be one of the best Christmas presents I got, I must have been about 8 years old and I wanted to be a vet so the thought of preforming a csection on a dog (by opening the Velcro) was the best thing ever 🤣. Sadly I don’t have small dc to buy one for.

clpsmum · 12/09/2021 20:29

@Impatientwino you e missed the deal they were £3.08. Put them in your basket and keep checking them because they seem to be being reduced for a few hours every few days x

Our DC have sacks by their beds from Santa. Lots of little bits, slippers, onesies, sweets, etc. and then a big Teddy / cushion / inflatable of some sort to fill it. Most the stuff in them are wrapped but generally not the big one or any blind bags etc. that already have an element of surprise. They open these on our bed christmas morning before getting dressed.

The main presents are around the tree wrapped in a different paper for each person, Santa's always really helpful and leaves a note for whose paper is whose 😁

When I was little we did the same but waited until after church, dinner and the queen's speech to open the main presents. I used to like that as it made the whole day exciting but DH thought it was cruel so we just have the main presents as soon as we go downstairs.

I feel guilty for the waste and that I always go overboard but then I also know that we only really get a few years between being able to remember enough to get excited and not believing anymore. I love Christmas with kids, hated it before kids and dread them being too old to be bothered.

MsMiaWallace · 12/09/2021 20:33

Anyone preordering a magic mixie?

dizzygirl1 · 12/09/2021 20:34

@anastasiabeverlybeaverhausen thank you, I've just tried your code but it isn't working for me 😭😭
Maybe it's not meant to be! #savemymoney 😉

PastelGiraffe · 12/09/2021 20:35

There’s a bunch of fairly nice men’s polo shirts down to £6 at Burton, plus a code which gives an extra 10% off and free next day delivery, so £5.40 delivered. There’s various colours and sizes available. Also spotted a few other bargains in their 70% off sale (sliders, hoodies etc) so there might be a few good add on presents for a partner or teenage boy.

Link to one of the polos below and the code is 10NEXTVCUK. (Enter at checkout).
@ItsAllBlahBlahBlah

I have the stockings, a Christmas Eve box and this year I'll use the sacks as 1st December sack. You're right, it's not the biggest for small children who's presents are generally large ride ons/play kitchens/big Playmobil sets. I found that Christmas PJ's in the Christmas Eve box meant worn for Christmas morning, then sort of redundant because it's after Christmas then. So what I intend to do this year, is:

1st December sacks. To contain for all DC and DH and I: Advent calendar. Christmas PJs. For DTwins the Lanka Kade wooden Christmas figures (will come out each year as a tradition) and Christmas jumpers. This way it's a little bit special to receive, and, and we'll actually use everything for the whole of December.

Christmas Eve box: all cards we receive from the international card exchange we do are put in here and opened all together on Christmas Eve morning. There's all the wind up toys that DS has received in his stocking (1 a year for last 13yrs) Robert Sabuda pop up Night before Christmas. And everybody's empty stocking.

Stockings on Christmas morning will contain small items like this years wind up toy, little Rubik's cube, DTwins have the snail and whale toys, just a couple of nice little bits to open immediately upstairs all together. And I do mean only a couple of bits, there's plenty of presents under the tree, so a stocking stuffed full will be overwhelming for little DTwins.
I really like how you’ve organised it all. I’m trying to start my own traditions & looking for ideas!

Twonka · 12/09/2021 20:56

My daughter really wants a pet. I don’t want a pet. She is not getting a pet!
Anyone have any good ideas that could are pet like other than just teddies? She asks me every single day for a puppy, I swear she’s just trying to break me!!!
She is 7..
Thanks

oatmilkisntsobad · 12/09/2021 20:57

@AnotherOne4

The Cambridge Confectionery Company have changed their website. I was looking at buying some Fudge Mixes (purchased these before, and highly recommend) They have Fudge Mixes for £2.99 each, or Hot Chocolate Stirrers for £1.66

No offers, but seems cheap enough. Not sure whether to place an order now, or wait nearer till Christmas.

These look like great stocking fillers but the £4.75 delivery is putting me off

A plant (perhaps a group of cactus or one of those carnivorous types if she’s not squeamish) and a list of chores. That’s kind of like having a pet. Something to care for that needs looking after, plus a whole load of extra responsibilities to take on. Grin
whoknows1230 · 12/09/2021 21:14

@dizzygirl1 sent me to Argos yesterday for UNO and I noticed there are a few other bargains which might help people - Scrabble Duplicate for £4.50 (I think it was previously mentioned for £6 on Amazon), What's the Box for £5.50 and kids fleece blankets between £5 and £6.70. They had Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol and glow in the dark star blankets.

There are also some clothes in the sale and I bought some tops for my pre-teens, including a Friends one for £4.50

YesIcan3 · 12/09/2021 21:14

@Twonka maybe a compromise some sea monkeys or aqua dragons. They are really tiny and come in a container you have to wait ages for them to hatch and watch them grow die and reproduce they normally come with a tiny bag of food which lasts years....maybe something to consider? My little boy had them for about 2 years was excellent.

AlvinSimonTheo · 12/09/2021 21:15

@Twonka brine shrimp?

YesIcan3 · 12/09/2021 21:18

@AlvinSimonTheo great minds and all that Grin

Just trying to order from poundtoys and it is charging for delivery even though my basket is over £25? Is there a code for free delivery or am I missing something?
