Poor deprived DD aged 3 asked for Juice on Christmas Eve. Queue me risking to the shop to buy a carton of juice and wrapping it when she’s gone to bed.

It was totally worth it, her face in the morning was pure happiness “Santa brought me juice!”.

So what’s the strangest or simplest thing that your DC have asked for?

My two never produced Christmas lists for Santa except on Christmas Eve. So rarely got anything off their lists.

Except one year when DS asked for a ball of string and I was able to oblige! (he was maybe 6? not sure)

CiaoForNiao · 03/09/2021 23:42

Possibly a birthday not Christmas - a Tesco bag. Not the 10p ones, the ones that are about £1. He liked to sit in them and watch TV.

Definitely a birthday - Macaroni cheese. Mum bought him a couple of tins. He declared them disgusting after 1 bite so the unopened one was donated for harvest festival.

My four year old told me yesterday he wants Father Christmas to bring him a bulldog clip, 'or even a peg if that's all he's got'!

DS is 5 and so has only been properly asking for a couple of years only ever asks for one thing and one thing only. Doesn't want to make a list of elaborate things like his brother, just selects one firmly wanted thing.

First year was a pencil case. Didn't care what was on it, just wanted a pencil case. Easy. He got an iron man pencil case and spent months filling it with all sorts of tat, carrying it around, reorganising the contents, checking and re-checking etc. Like a little handbag

Last year was a pretend apple. Managed to hunt down a really realistic looking one. He was thrilled with it and immediately went and put it in the fruit bowl and spent the rest of the day (and still at least a once a week currently) 'tricking' me by offering it to me to eat. His joy is unbounded every time I 'fall' for it. Knows how to play the long game for sure 😍

Obviously he gets more presents but he's actually a bit of a bugger to buy for because really he only wants the one carefully selected present to tie in with whatever he has planned. But I can't just buy him one tiny present (it'd save me a packet though, especially with his birthday three days before Christmas!)

DS2 wanted a polar bear. He was mildly disappointed when he received a cuddly one, but he still has it aged 26 so I didn't do too badly.

Kyliealwayshadthebestdisco · 04/09/2021 03:44

A jingle bell from Santa (in the days where these things could not be easily found!)
A nutcracker
A rubber egg to trick people with
A letter from Santa in the vein of the Tolkien books starring the North Polar Bear and all his naughty mischief and a terrible drawing of the disastrous festive goings on at the North Pole this year which are always the North Polar Bear’s fault… (age 13 last Christmas this was still his most wanted item! Takes me ages to write the bloody things!)

@speak2me

Cheese also here too! I think he was 3 or 4 at the time. He's mentioned it again this year (will be 9yo) but has requested Wensleydale!
I still want cheese.... aged 43 lol

@Belfastbird

A fresh pineapple- she now gets one every year!
My mum gets one too !
BikeRunSki · 04/09/2021 04:23

When DS was 4, he asked for “a fox, an owl and eagle and a snake”. He got a soft toy owl, which went everywhere except school for several years, and, at 13, now goes only almost-everywhere !

ShippingNews · 04/09/2021 04:38

DS always loved meat. One year he asked for a Wagyu steak.

ChickenTimeBomb · 04/09/2021 04:52

Cake at age 2. So I wrapped up a chocolate log. She was delighted and made everyone have a slice!

Findingapath · 04/09/2021 05:53

Last Christmas my 3yo DS noticed the light bulb in my light up mirror had broken and needed replacing, he asked Father Christmas for a new one and was thrilled when he opened it on Christmas morning and wanted to go fit it before playing with his new toys.

Soubriquet · 04/09/2021 06:11

I feel robbed. Never got this. Only toy requests

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 04/09/2021 06:18

Carrots. She was 9....
Her 7yo sister asked for a whoopee cushion.

Stretchandsnap · 04/09/2021 06:29

DD1 aged about 4 - A yoyo and a pair of white PJs - it was a nightmare. In the end I had to settle for a pair of white cycling shorts and a white t-shirt - she was delighted.

EveningOverRooftops · 04/09/2021 06:33

Random fruits. Last year an avocado. I have a stash of googly eyes that I put on said produce under the tree. But daft to wrap it but googly eyes. Oh yes.

RedMarauder · 04/09/2021 06:37

@GameSetMatch

Socks, we can thank Pappa pig for the ease of that gift! The Father Christmas we visited thought it was hilarious 😂
I've gifted 2 different children under 5 socks as they asked for them. The main difficultly was they had to be specific colours...
Couldhavebeenme3 · 04/09/2021 06:49

Sellotape.

Santa obliged - we bought loads, all different colours, patterns, widths, as well as bog standard. We're still using the dispenser maybe 10 years later!

This is so sweet
Datsandcogs · 04/09/2021 06:58

My just 4 year old wanted “a mattress topper just like Mummy’s”. She was delighted to have it, not disappointed as I feared! 10 years on it’s still on my bed so I think it was a wise request!

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 04/09/2021 07:00

Blue hair. She was three. And it was 6pm on Xmas Eve so I couldn't even get her a wig. 😂

turkeyboots · 04/09/2021 07:43

DS wanted a bowl of crisps one year. And drew pictures every day to remind Santa.
He was totally bewildered on Christmas Day to receive a bowl of Crisps!Hmm

Vinotinto78 · 04/09/2021 07:53

DS requested bubble wrap when he was about 3 or 4. Santa obliged!

stillcrazyafterall · 04/09/2021 07:55

A stuffed chicken. This was a soft toy, not an actual one, we scoured everywhere for months (this was about 20 years ago) and eventually found one on eBay. He still has it...

careerchangeperhaps · 04/09/2021 08:00

A jar of gherkins!
