Poor deprived DD aged 3 asked for Juice on Christmas Eve. Queue me risking to the shop to buy a carton of juice and wrapping it when she’s gone to bed.

It was totally worth it, her face in the morning was pure happiness “Santa brought me juice!”.

So what’s the strangest or simplest thing that your DC have asked for?

My DS is two and this is the first year he’s had enough speech to communicate a request to us. I know it’s early, but he found a few books about Santa in our book pile, and now it’s on his mind. He’d like a motorbike and a baby sister.

Not sure I can oblige on the first, but his baby sister is due on the 26th!

One of my children wrote to Father Christmas saying he wanted “all the dangerous things”
A friend’s child asked for in-app purchases

didireallysaythat · 04/09/2021 08:10

Snow on Christmas day.

DS1 only wrote to Santa once - maybe the disappointment was too much. DS2 has never asked Santa for anything.

A single porcupine spine
Didn’t manage to get one though

Lavendersquare · 04/09/2021 08:15

DD asked for a tickets, proper tickets like you get given to go into an attraction. After a bit of Googling I sourced a roll of old fashioned 2 part tickets for a fiver and I have to say they have been very well used.

Aged 5 requested Immortality. Explained it would be too risky to rely on that as she wouldn't know she had it until it was time to die. She settled for a teddy instead.

A Len doll. As in, a doll of head judge Len Goodman from Strictly.

sandgrown · 04/09/2021 08:19

@Malibukev my son also asked for a spice rack when he was younger!

Haudyourwheesht · 04/09/2021 08:22

Peppa yoghurts. Mean mummy only bought plain Greek yoghurt. Thankfully Santa obliged.

blessedbethechocolate · 04/09/2021 08:23

Post it notes. He was 9 and didn't want anything else. He was thrilled when he got them. Just wish his older siblings had the same cheap present ideas.

My ds is 3 and he has, since around March this year when we began landscaping our garden, been asking for a 'real, grown-up chainsaw'.

He loves tools, building, wood etc and DH will often take him to hammer or drill wood in the garage. We've never had or used a chainsaw though. He is adament that's what he wants!

Angel2702 · 04/09/2021 08:26

My daughter has asked for several odd things. Bird seed one year, the silicone washing up sponges, selection box of face flannels.

My son always asks for blu tac.

Oh congratulations! That's lovely ☺️

Not Christmas but DD has asked for bananas for her 4th birthday and keeps reminding us that is what she wants!!

CandyLeBonBon · 04/09/2021 08:35

A slab of Parmesan cheese.

Stillfunny · 04/09/2021 08:39

Aged 2 , my son asked for a shopping basket. Nothing else. Easy , got the ELC shop for him . Baffled on Xmas Day as to why Santa would bring a shop he didn't ask for.
He slept with the little plastic shopping basket by his pillow that night.

Chaosandmadness · 04/09/2021 08:46

A police dog (a real one) Briefly considered committing a criminal act, going on the run and leading the police (with a dog) back to the house but it was Christmas Eve and I was in my pj's at that point so it had to be a no

Mustreadabook · 04/09/2021 08:58

Washing up liquid. To make potions.

Good save!

When he was about 5 DS1 wanted one of those expanding flexible torches with the built in magnet. The following year he asked for a battery operated spaghetti fork!

DS2 asked for an automatic orange peeler a couple of years back, but considering we don't eat a huge number of oranges, I managed to talk him down. He still mentions it sometimes though!

monty09 · 04/09/2021 12:28

My DD who's 6 in December has asked for a shower for her birthday as we don't have one at her house but loves the one at her dads 🤣

ItsSnowJokes · 04/09/2021 12:30

Christmas Pudding Pants have been asked for this year by my 4 year old. God knows where they are doing to come from!

goose1964 · 04/09/2021 14:38

My then 2 year old grandson asked for Halloween, mind you he's still looking forward to Halloween now he's 4. He doesn't get excited by Christmas to the same degree. I expect it will change this year as he's started school

goose1964 · 04/09/2021 14:50

30ItsSnowJokes you could say that Santa forgot she wasn't American and get her some leggings

Thecomfortador · 04/09/2021 15:05

About a week before Christmas my then 4 year old suddenly said he couldn't wait to open his chip toy from Santa. Cue much questioning as to what the chip toy was that he was anticipating, which didn't get us very far.

Amazon prime served us well and a toy chip fryer landed on the doorstep just in time. I don't think we'll be doing that kind of last minute thing again.

After last Christmas he asked for a grappling hook for next year... He mentioned the other day about a wishing well too - I'm not sure we have the space 🤔.
