Gah... I've been away on holiday and I'm at least 1,000 messages behind so apologies if this has been discussed already.

DD (9) spotted the Body Shop advent calendar in the shop today. It's £55 which is steep for a child's advent calendar. I hoped I'd be able to find a discount code but looking on their site it says they are excluded from all promotions and limited to one per customer.

Are they really that popular in which case I shouldn't wait if I want to get it for her?

A lot of the things I'm seeing here this year aren't bargains at all. Of course the stag place names and the Blokus are fab and are the type of things that should be snapped up.

I'm in no way being a grumpy thread police type but it's worth bearing in mind that if you're on a budget early shopping is only good if you keep it under control.

Stick with the threads (which I feel are earlier this year too. No complaints from me but worth bearing in mind) and true bargains will appear. But there's no rush.

Don't panic buy. Especially £55 advent calendars from MLMs! Just no, don't do it!

I forgot to add what I actually came here to say

If you order a C&C to the Works you'll be given a code when you collect for 10% off in store.

So order the minimum online and pick up the rest in store to get it even cheaper!

Also their 2 for £10 storage boxes are really sturdy and are in all themes, Harry Potter, Gaming, Friends etc. They are a good size to bulk out the present pile and then you have somewhere to put the new Xmas presents afterwards!

Been in Card Factory, they had these nice pin badges for 99p and kids boxed necklaces for £1.49 which are really nice!

They also had a 75% off stand with things like World's Best Dad mugs and the like and 50% off kids stuff like novelty pens and notebooks which will make good stocking fillers around 50p-£1 each

Did the card factory have their Xmas cards and gift bags in yet?

@TheCrow Thanks! I've been putting off a real-life shopping trip to town but the Card Factory pins and necklaces would make some excellent gifts for nieces!

From memory I don’t think you get a discount on the Body Shop advent calendar and I believe they do sell out. They do 3 different ones the cheapest is £55.

@LemonCake79 we treated DD to one last year and she was very grateful. Contents kept her going for a long while.

Amazon have oversized Harry Potter hoodies from £20.99. I haven't had one myself, but the reviews are good.

I brought the body shop calendar full price last year, didn't see it discounted at all, its exempt from all offers except if you have a loyalty voucher to use. I remember one person saying last year they brought a cheap one in store but I was in town at the time and there was no offer in store in my home town. Not saying it wasnt true, I think they were probably overstocked or something and the OP got lucky. They sell out really fast so if you 100% want one I think you have to go for it (that's why I did) same with my naked marshmallow one this year, I wasn't prepared to compromise

I'm pretty much done so planning to shuffle off shortly. I'm really pleased with all the bargains this year so thanks to everyone that helped me out

I could tell she really liked it @BestofLuck, she doesn't often ask for things and usually just has one of the £2 Dairy Milk calendars. It's good to know your DD used the bits and enjoyed it.

Thanks @IggyAce and @ItsAllBlahBlahBlah, I did think it might be a case of 'this is the price'. She has her birthday at the end of November and it's what my dad would want to spend so I'll give it to him as an idea and suggest he doesn't delay.

I've just pre ordered the curry advent calendar from the Spicery for my MIL's Christmas gift. I think because it's a 12 days of Christmas design it could be used either as an advent calendar or as a present. It's got 25% off and I used someone's referral code in an old post to get a further 10% off so it cost £20.21 with free delivery. The code worked even though it shouldn't have because it wasn't my first order. I was thinking about the Mezze Legend when that was 50% off but she's more of a curry fan so I think she'd prefer this.

Just de lurking- no bargains as such but more of a public service announcement to say

I've been to Costco today and they're very much getting into Christmas mode. The lady on the till said that they are preparing for not as much stock as normal apparently and that things are flying out. They had the wrapping paper in (which for us is a must have) and other really lovely gifts etc. So a few more things ticked off the list

Boots christmas shop is now online and has the 3 for 2 although lots still unavailable. Might be worth a browse and to highlight ones you like for a later date though
