Thread 2 - the one with the return of the buns

@jumpingintosummer thanks for the inspiration for the thread title, I’m now singing ‘return of the buns’ to the tune of ‘return of the Mac’

Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link or the last word next to the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

If you’re posting anything specifically for me please do @ me or I may not spot it. It’s helpful if when sharing bargain info you bold it to make it easy for people to differentiate between chat and bargain links.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Referral thread here to use for if you’re posting your personal referral link to others.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

Another one who bought Blokus! No idea who it is for but didn’t want to miss out!

Playmobile fire engine arrived this evening from Amazon and looks great for £25. A decent sized box but thanks to advice from others we will probably build in advance and wrap it up ready built.

I have just finished wrapping ds birthday presents up. His birthday is not until the end of September but for once I do not want to be last minute wrapping the evening before. Already ticked off lots of the xmas list thanks to this thread so might start on the Christmas wrapping soon!

Notlongnow1 · 23/08/2021 21:51

@peachtea1 I would go for blokus i think as looks a more substantial gift - the junior colour brain box is tiny

BeGoneDom · 23/08/2021 21:59

Baa 🐑 I've bought Bargain Blokus, probably for DH but I'm not committed to it Blush Also got the Back to the Future Delorean Playmobil for £24 instead of £50 on Amazon. And Amazon offered me a 30 day prime trial for free now to do all my Christmas shopping in the next 30 days

A couple of years ago, I bought a set of 4 Orchard Toys games for about £12, planning to split them for presents. Got a birthday coming up soon that one would be ideal for but do you think I can find where I've hidden them?! Any ideas for a present for a 4yo girl for about £5 max? She likes small world stuff but not sure anything like that is cheap.

friskybivalves · 23/08/2021 22:02

Bloody Blokus is coming out at £19.99 for me and I'm enraged even though I really don't want it! Where are you sheepily finding it for a bargain £7.99?

NoWordForFluffy · 23/08/2021 22:05

@Sideorderofchips

So many kids will be opening blokus this year. It's like Robert the unicorn all over again 😂😂
Bit easier to hide than Robert! 🦄🤣

Bit easier to hide than Robert

I had no one to buy a Robert for but do this year so maybe he will make an appearance Grin

WayneBruce · 23/08/2021 22:11

I missed Blockus too! If anyone spots it again can they do a shout out!

I've bought first pressies, 2 x Gillette travel sets and sensitive razor set for a pre teen with bum fluff. Great stocking fillers.

Off to crack open my Gift List app.

Shiloh139 · 23/08/2021 22:18

@Ck91

For the person looking for Pokémon cards Aldi had some in the special buy section yesterday for £7.99 I think it was. A few different pack to choose from.
Ooh thanks @Ck91, that was me. I'll check it out in the morning.

Any ideas for a main present for a 2.5 year old? Problem is he already has all his big brother’s toys. He’s obsessed with Peppa but we pretty much have all of those. Got lots of arts & crafts, puzzles, Happyland, paw patrol, a train table, Lego etc already. God I’m surrounded by toys 🧸

buckeejit · 23/08/2021 22:42

Blokus is so fab. I've a spare in the present box but would love another at £7.99!

Waterlemon · 23/08/2021 22:45

Some unusual and quirky gifts on sale here, might be good for awkward teens.

I wonder if anyone on this thread will be gifted blockus this year by a mumsnetting family member?!

sorryiasked · 23/08/2021 23:01

@BeGoneDom how about the playmobil twin stroller set mentioned upthread?
Or if you can stretch to £6.50 this princess picnic set on Amazon.

@Maharajah20 Another person thanking you for the Boots Urban Decay post. Bought for £14.70 for my niece, fab present and even better value.

@Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo I second your recommendation for Dr Zigs Bubble mix and wands. Take them to the park with the mix in an empty Celebrations tub for traveling and you have so much fun. Kids all around are always amazed and before you know it, they're all playing together. I love your user name btw, took me a couple of minutes to twig where I know it from. You've gotta love The Faraway Tree series.

Elpheba · 23/08/2021 23:14

Another Blokus sheep here- bought two and will give one to friends we’re going to stay with next week- perfect thank you gift!

Think I’ve decided on getting yoto player for DD for Christmas. CCC doesn’t have any data- just says they’ve always been £79.99- does anyone remember seeing them go down ever?

slithytoveisascientist · 23/08/2021 23:37

I missed out on blokus 😫

RJnomore1 · 24/08/2021 00:06

Lovely to see Robert mentioned. My dd2 was the one with the original robert who named him. We still have him but she’s 17 next month 😟

Notlongnow1 · 24/08/2021 01:12

@elpheba love our yotos. They do occasionally drop - i got our 2nd when they had 20% off. If you want a referral code, feel free to pm me - not sure if it is £10 off or 10% off, I'd have to check - but not as good as 20% off sadly. Will keep an eye out on yoto groups I'm in and shout on here if I see anything.

whatwillicallmyself · 24/08/2021 01:45

Hi not particularly christmassy but I got this for my niece its an extra large picnic blanket I thought would be ideal for music festivals etc, might be good for older teens, its reduced to £9.99

Tenner Tuesday deals are up at Boots including this Sleek festival set allegedly worth over £80.

Restlessinthenorth · 24/08/2021 07:59

Thanks for the reminder re tenner Tuesdays. Just got 3 no 7 eyeshadows and a lash builder for £10. All nice neutral colours. My mum mentioned her make up needed a refresh so I'll collect bits in the run up to xmas to make her a small hamper
