Thread 2 - the one with the return of the buns

Reastie · 16/08/2021 18:53

@jumpingintosummer thanks for the inspiration for the thread title, I’m now singing ‘return of the buns’ to the tune of ‘return of the Mac’

Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link or the last word next to the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

If you’re posting anything specifically for me please do @ me or I may not spot it. It’s helpful if when sharing bargain info you bold it to make it easy for people to differentiate between chat and bargain links.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Referral thread here to use for if you’re posting your personal referral link to others.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

@Smile3 Thank you! I have a busy evening ahead of me now filling in all the bargains I've managed to get from all the wonderful suggestions on here. ! Will hope to feel nice and organised in a few hours time!

PinkDaydreams · 23/08/2021 17:19

Trip to Sainsbury's has resulted in me purchasing alot of Yankee candles and the Yankee wax melts! Thank you to the poster on here for the tip off Grin

InglouriousBasterd · 23/08/2021 17:21

Hello all! Happy to be joining you again this year!

I put an Oodie in my basket and left it, was playing around with codes - a pop up appeared asking for email for a discount, so I gave that a shot - they offered 25 quid off originally which was already there, then upgraded it to 30 quid off a few hours later.

So...if you are after an Oodie, it’s worth entering your details and plonking one in your basket for a while!

Got one for DD for 54 quid in the end.

villamariavintrapp · 23/08/2021 17:22

@runningpink I think that's a lovely idea, what about one of those really nice paper cut out pop up books? Might be a bit old for the 1 year old, but definitely something they could keep. And can I ask, where did you get snow globes from? I'd like to get my kids those I think..

Purpleheadgirl · 23/08/2021 17:22

@runningpink what about an experience for the child, or for the family? There are often offers up to half price on a variety of those. Or voucher for somewhere local they could go throughout the year like a farm park etc?

runningpink · 23/08/2021 17:23

@IceCreamAndCandyflossi have see how much stuff they receive at birthdays and Christmas and how many toys are never touched and the amount of clothes they sell on selling pages still with tags on.

When I ask what they need I get told nothing or I don’t know from the parents

runningpink · 23/08/2021 17:26

@villamariavintrapp oh I like the idea of the book. I will take a look

I can’t remember where I got the snow globes. I will see if I can find an email and get back to you

That’s also a good idea @Purpleheadgirl I have done that in the past actually but had forgotten

Someaddedsugar · 23/08/2021 17:27

@runningpink a personalised Santa plate? DSIL bought DS one for his first Christmas from Etsy and we use it every year

AnotherOne4 · 23/08/2021 17:30

Loving this thread! Well done everyone Smile

I've taken advantage of the Boots codes, and purchased a Blokus at a bargain price Grin

runningpink · 23/08/2021 17:40

@villamariavintrapp I got the snow globes from Giftsfromhandpicked.

I actually seen some nice once closer to Christmas in home bargains but I had already purchased these

villamariavintrapp · 23/08/2021 17:44

Thank you, will have a look. We actually did the personalised Santa plates last year-but did them ourselves at one of those ceramic painting cafes, so was a really nice day, and kids loved doing it.

Voiceofreason92 · 23/08/2021 17:49

I’ve caved. Bought Blokus.
Actually, i bought 3! We have 2 birthday parties coming up!

CarolinaWeeper · 23/08/2021 17:50

Thank you for the turtle doves info, I've decided to take a punt and buy a mystery pair for me and a pair for my mum. I'm excited to see what colour turns up!

TryingtobePrepared · 23/08/2021 18:17

@ItsAllBlahBlahBlah i didn't do anything to my fingerless gloves but i did use the off cuts sent along with it to make a bird broach that i gave to my mum. Am going to make a few more for xmas gifts. They were super easy, i found templates on pinterest and then it was just blanket stitch and a little toy stuffing.

recklessgran · 23/08/2021 18:21

I cannot wait for this to come back in stock. Perfect stocking filler for adult DGS as we have a private joke about a stocking full of coal!

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 23/08/2021 18:23

Thanks @TryingtobePrepared that's really helpful!

PhantomErik · 23/08/2021 18:28

runningpink what about a book & soft toy. Books like the Gruffalo, Room on the Broom etc have soft toys you can buy. Waterstones are great for this.

A couple of years ago my DS received The Christmasaurus & the cuddly blue dino that came with it. We've re-read it & the sequel & will be buying the new one this year & the dinosaur lives on his bed.

Smile3 · 23/08/2021 18:28

@wolfcub is that the lego clinic for £15 I'm wondering if I should get this?

Iknownothing · 23/08/2021 18:30

I’m looking for some noise cancelling headphones. DD wants them for studying. I suspect I’ll have to wait for Black Friday for a good bargain but can anyone recommend any? Would want to spend under £100 (preferably nearer £50)

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo · 23/08/2021 18:36

@runningpink something every child I know loves is the Dr Zigs bubbles. The bubble mixture is really strong and you get either multi bubble wands of giant bubble wands. I love taking them out with our family to use (and they make for amazing photos!). They’re like the ones you see at festivals.

Wolfcub · 23/08/2021 18:45

Smile yes it is. Should have been £27

runningpink · 23/08/2021 18:47

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I will take a look at them later

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 23/08/2021 19:25

Also purchased Blokus - thank you!

Lemonsandlemonade · 23/08/2021 19:30

Thanks to those of you who suggested a ball bit it’s a good idea. 😂.

Gunna get a few personalised bits too for him.

He will be my only one as he is our miracle.

woodwaj · 23/08/2021 19:47

What age is blokus for? Would 11/15 year old boys play together or would it get a bit boring?!
