Thread 2 - the one with the return of the buns

@jumpingintosummer thanks for the inspiration for the thread title, I’m now singing ‘return of the buns’ to the tune of ‘return of the Mac’

Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link or the last word next to the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

If you’re posting anything specifically for me please do @ me or I may not spot it. It’s helpful if when sharing bargain info you bold it to make it easy for people to differentiate between chat and bargain links.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Referral thread here to use for if you’re posting your personal referral link to others.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

I don't know who it's for either! Might be a "to the whole family from FC" present that appears under the tree in Christmas morning.

PinkDaydreams · 23/08/2021 15:02

@ItsAllBlahBlahBlah

Argh I really want Blokus but my eldest is only 4 next month 🤣
Same here but I think I'm going to order for me and dh anyway Grin
ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 23/08/2021 15:06

Hi @PiePieChickenPie it came through the door in a slim brown box, like graze or simply cook! Mine are mink brown fingerless gloves with teal, lilac and pink cashmere pieces for repair and some buttons. I will upload a pic

The star is where the very faint red stain is. It will probably come out in the wash

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 23/08/2021 15:28

I've brought Blokus. I figured if DH pile looks small. I will give it to him for a game night, just us two Smile total FOMO

oatmilkisntsobad · 23/08/2021 15:43

I know it's a long shot but does anyone know of any discounts/ free delivery codes for The Japanese Shop? I want to buy a ramen bowl for £11 but not too keen on the added £4 delivery x

DarlingCoffee · 23/08/2021 15:46

I’ve never done this before but you have all inspired me to start my Christmas shopping today. With the help of this thread (and thread 1) I’ve made a good dent in my shopping list. Feels good! Thanks all Smile

runningpink · 23/08/2021 15:49

I always get my niece/nephews Christmas gifts they can keep rather than another toy or clothes they don’t really need.

In the past these have been:
Wooden advent with figures
Personalised books
Snow globes
Christmas ornament
Sure there has been something else but I can’t remember at the moment

Anyone any suggestions for this year? I’m sure there is something obvious but I have hit a blank!

Kids are 1, 3 and 6 if that helps

Smile3 · 23/08/2021 15:53

To whoever recommend the gift list app you have made me very happy today. Iv put my family in and items iv bought! 🎁

TheGirlWhoLived · 23/08/2021 15:56

@Lemonsandlemonade I might be hideously behind but ds is 7 months in a weeks time and he absolutely loved a go in my nieces ballpit- I’m going to grab one soon so could be a good idea for a “big” but not pricy (unless you go for the poncy £70 grey foam one like me) gift?

Waveafterwaveslowlydrifting · 23/08/2021 16:01

2 blockuses bought! Thanks 😊

Maskedrevenger · 23/08/2021 16:07

runningpink is it actually a request from the parents for a keepsake each every Christmas? I’m just thinking that it might become an issue with space for every gift from every Christmas needing to be kept rather than a toy or clothes that they will age out of, especially if all 3 are siblings, I’m genuinely not trying to be snarky just putting another thought forward.
If space not a problem maybe personalised prints for the bedroom or money boxes. If they have a garden maybe something that will last a good few years like a mud kitchen, mini tools and seeds or bird boxes.

Maskedrevenger · 23/08/2021 16:11

Forgot one thing I did buy as a absolute bargain from this thread maybe 3 years ago, I think from Lands End, was personalised fleece blankets for a friend with 4 children I was able to get their names embroidered on them and they were available in 4 different colours

Newforestdonkey · 23/08/2021 16:20

Thank you for the Blokus, I was hoping for it to happen and I bough 3!!

Mummyoply · 23/08/2021 16:28

@runningpink I got my baby cousins the polar bear money box from Rex London, it's really nice and comes in a lovely box. I also got them the Paddington Bear Treasury which was only £5 on Amazon. My DS has had it for a couple of years, all the stories are short and he still loves reading them. My thought is that I can read them to him, then he can learn to read them, then they can passed on to his children or another child in the family.

Paddington: A Treasury for the Very Young: The perfect Christmas gift www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0008395748/ref=cmswrcpapigltfabc_76NESRYKBKNG3DNK657B

@runningpink it's gone up to £6

Mummyoply · 23/08/2021 16:33

Paddington's Suitcase by Bond, Michael (2007) Paperback www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00OHX6E74/ref=cmswrcpapigltfabc_8JA4Q11HWSTRT5ZJ1J3X

@runningpink i have this one for my DS in blue , which is a bit more money but it's really nice

runningpink · 23/08/2021 16:41

It isn’t a request from the parents but everything in the past has been well received and they like that it’s not something else that’s around for 12 months of the year.

Not all siblings so fine on that front as well. Most things I have got just get put away with the other Christmas decorations so no issue that way.

Completely understand where you are coming from though so thanks for checking @Maskedrevenger

Outdoor space is limited as that’s my preferred option for gifts as well.

I see how many toys go unused as they get so many and clothes that are never worn so really don’t want to go down that route if I can help it.

PiePieChickenPie · 23/08/2021 16:44

@ItsAllBlahBlahBlah thanks so much for your help and even a pic too! (they look really lovely) You’re an absolute star Smile

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 23/08/2021 16:46

Not all clothes or toys go to waste. You could ask for toy suggestions and pyjamas are always a staple and rarely wasted.

daisyboo1 · 23/08/2021 16:50

@Smile3 which app did you go for? I usually write mine in a book, but think an app sounds more handy.

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 23/08/2021 16:57

No problem at all @PiePieChickenPie They are well packaged when opened and all wrapped up lovely. Mine was opened "helpfully" alongside by 19mo, hence why its slightly disheveled in appearance now in the pic 😂. I'm really impressed with them and love the fact they're using up stock which would otherwise go to waste.

Smile3 · 23/08/2021 17:07

@daisyboo1 it's great, theres a passcode on it ai nosey partner/children cant log on too!
