Thread 2 - the one with the return of the buns

Reastie · 16/08/2021 18:53

@jumpingintosummer thanks for the inspiration for the thread title, I’m now singing ‘return of the buns’ to the tune of ‘return of the Mac’

Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link or the last word next to the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

If you’re posting anything specifically for me please do @ me or I may not spot it. It’s helpful if when sharing bargain info you bold it to make it easy for people to differentiate between chat and bargain links.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Referral thread here to use for if you’re posting your personal referral link to others.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

I'm stuck on a main present idea for my 4 year old, what do your 4 year olds love playing with?

He already has a bike (last years Christmas) and a play kitchen (last Christmas).

His younger brother is getting soft play from the play time company (who do 10% off for NHS workers). So I'd like something equally as impressive for him.

CarolinaWeeper · 19/08/2021 10:26

Has anyone used rideontoys in the past or received their orders? I ordered a playmobil doll's house from there when the sale was posted on the prequel thread but have heard nothing since the order confirmation email, have emailed them and not had a response. I'm hoping they're just working through a lot of orders but wondered if anyone had the same?

CarolinaWeeper · 19/08/2021 10:30

@oneofthose my four year old's main present is the Playmobil rocket that was down to £25 on earlier threads. It lights up, makes sounds and is in a massive box so is fab for that price.

My ds will be 5 this year. But last year he got a micro scooter. We also got him a paw patroller and loads of dinosaur stuff. He's still obsessed with dinosaurs so he'll probably he'll probably get more this year.

oneofthose what about a wooden train set or a big duplo set. In the past I've bought bundles from charity shops/facebook etc & bought a new storage tub to put them in.

How about a Yoto player? We got one for our then 3.5 year old last year and she loves it.

@CarolinaWeeper I did a big order from Rideontoys on 31 July. Delivery was within the 7 working days it said as far as I can remember as I’ve had it for a while.

CarolinaWeeper · 19/08/2021 11:17

Thanks @BadgerFace, I've just called customer services and they were really apologetic and said they're still waiting the shipment arrival at the warehouse (Brexit delays). They said I could either wait or get a refund so I've said I'll wait another couple of weeks as it was a good price! Grin

We got our ds (just turned 4 last year) the duplo trains last Christmas. There are two, one is a steam train and the other is a cargo train. I got some second hand track from ebayand we've had hours of fun. You can also control them with a tablet if you download the app. Not necessarily a bargain, the prices do fluctuate slightly though.

Cargo train £99

Steam train £49

preloved book subscription seems to have some good choices (frequency, genre/age). You also get biscuits/treats and tea/coffee/hot choc etc

teatimebookshop.co.uk/

Seems like a good gift. Hoping they do an Xmas themed one for my DS

Ooo this is exciting!!! There’s no reviews so I’m a bit Hmm but will see what it’s like when it arrives. It’s only £4 so if it’s terrible it’s not the end of the world
