Here is thread 4 this year. With an appearance from Mr Bon Jovi himself!

Morning!

Your sudden influx of work sounds similar to some of the files I've inherited recently: half arsed (If that) effort prior to it being passed over!

I worked a bit late to catch up with myself a bit yesterday. It means today will be a touch easier to deal with. That's the benefit of working from home, as I'd have had to run for a train at 5 to make sure I was home for 6.30 in Liverpool, whereas I can work 50 minutes extra and then wander downstairs here. Much better!

Similar story here Fluffy - as DH was out last night until 8 I worked on until 6 in the end. Means I have a full plan on how to get this work done and I could switch off properly.

I've woken up to new flowers - I have some yellow and red ones now. I'm so pleased with how they're coming - I've never grown flowers before.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 08/07/2021 08:42

Morning.
Crazy we'll need a pic to identify the 🌼🌻🌷 Smile
We're going to dig up another batch of 🥔 today. They taste amazing, just like the ones you used to get as a kid.
The cats were on a killing spree last night, I've found dead moths well, bits of them and a few dead spiders too. They will be rewarded with some tuna later.😺

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 08/07/2021 09:56

Sorry I am rubbish at keeping up? How is everyone?

We are in the midst of negotiations with our seller about which of the work shown in the survey they will pay for.

On the plus side I have had my first Christmas related email from a company!

NoWordForFluffy · 08/07/2021 10:01

Are they being awkward, Most?

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 08/07/2021 10:20

He works on an oil rig so communication is very very slow.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/07/2021 10:34

Don't they have access to email on a daily basis? I'm pretty sure my friend's husband isn't AWOL when he's away on the rig.

It's been long enough since the survey for them to decide really.

OP posts:
pussycatlickinglollyices · 08/07/2021 11:06

most that sounds like an excuse to me. It's not the 1970s...are they aware of a device called "a mobile phone" 🤔🤦🏻‍♀️
I'd give them to the end of this week tomorrow then pull out tbh.
You need to find the right house for YOU. You know now that yours will sell quickly so the ball is firmly in your court here.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 08/07/2021 11:10

I'm just worried about losing our buyer if we start again!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 08/07/2021 11:13

I am leaving it all to DH to be honest. I go into a tailspin if I think about it.

CrazyBaubles · 08/07/2021 12:50

Most I know oil riggers can sometimes be hard to get hold of but I wonder if they're doing it to delay a little so they can decide what tactic they want to use with you?
It's a stressful process though.

More importantly, what company contacted you with something christmas related? Xmas Grin

I've added some pics of my flowers - even though they've taken almost no work from me I'm ridiculously proud and pleased with them 😂

We've sold our house that we live in now 3 times, each time it was priced correctly and on the market for about 5 days, full price offered.
Each house we tried to buy had problems - one didn't have pp for a 2 storey extension - I knew the local planner and spoke to him, he said they were already investigating enforcement action so we backed out of that pdq; second had a massive oak tree with a tpo, the roots were undermining the founds and it needed a new septic tank; last was one which had been roofed incorrectly (marley moderns laid one above another, without staggered joints) which we knew about but they wouldn't acknowledge dodgy electrics (old fuse box, no RCD and exposed trunking in the utility) damp (rotten floor) to the living room (suspended timber) and no certs for the GFCH or DG.
It cost a few quid in searches, but we always used a "pay when you complete" solicitor sorry which works out more expensive for one purchase, but saved us a packet in the long run, especially as we haven't actually moved house. Hmm
Admittedly we were staying around the same area (well, within 10 miles or so) but even so, some people will sell shit with a million dollar price tag!

pussycatlickinglollyices · 08/07/2021 13:10

Crazy 🏆 they're poppies and some sort of daisy (looking at the petals) Is it a specific "bee" mix? I've seen them, so might try a pack or 2 next year.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/07/2021 13:15

My parents sold their house which they still live in many times. Failed purchases happen a fair bit!

And little blue cornflowers!

Here is my wildflower allotment section!

I think we will end up with a "wildflower" patch around the bird table tbh. The grass is knackered with bits of fat ball and seed and sultanas for my Blackbird even though we move the table around.
It gets the sun more than any other bit. Would you dig up the old bit of scabby lawn and put some stepping stones in (so DH can get to the tree/fence) then plant it up?

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 08/07/2021 14:07

My favourite reason people pulled out of buying our parents house Fluffy was because it was on a main road!! Surely they noticed that when they looked round 🤔

NoWordForFluffy · 08/07/2021 14:16

Yes, same here. They should've seen it before the A14 was built, that was BUSY!

I wouldn't dig the lawn, just scarify it and add seeds. Plus stepping stones if needed!

When we bought last year we ended up skipping the survey the pandemic meant that we couldn't get a surveyor in for months and in the end it was too tight with the end of our tenancy, the baby and everything else going on, thankfully nothing has been an absolute howler but I wouldn't make the same choice again 😖

CrazyBaubles · 08/07/2021 14:48

puss the flowers were a bee mix (bought from the cheapie basket at a garden centre over a year ago Blush )

Your flowers look amazing Fluffy

I didn't realise house purchases falling through was so common, it's only happened to one person I know, and that was because survey showed massive issues with the roof and the seller wouldn't budge on price so my friend walked away.

Hairspray We didn't have an in-depth survey either, just the basic value one done as required by the mortgage company.
I felt like our move took ages anyway, dread to think how much longer it would have been if we'd had to wait for a surveyor to be available.

I love it when people ignore the ads for houses then moan about it

Morning!

It's a lovely day today and the bees are out in force getting smacked off their faces on the poppies! All you can hear is buzzing. 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

We've lost 3 baby sweetcorn overnight to 🐌🐌🐌 It's very annoying. Then the rabbits will eat them when they're bigger. 🙄

People are very weird when they view houses, almost like they don't understand the photos / measurements on Rightmove! Or they just can't see beyond wallpaper. That one frustrates me!

OP posts:
pussycatlickinglollyices · 09/07/2021 08:16

Morning.
My lavender is starting to flower so the bees have begun to buzz under the window - it's driving the cats mad. 😺
When I look on Rightmove, I get suspicious if the first photo isn't of the front of the house - and I love a floorplan.
We had a viewer once who wanted to know if we could change the taps on the basins to a single mixer tap because that's what his kids were used to and they wouldn't understand having separate taps.
🤦🏻‍♀️

NoWordForFluffy · 09/07/2021 08:51

😂😂😂

Clearly not understanding that sellers don't have to accommodate personal choice! 🤦‍♀️

Morning. Day off today, phew! The sun is shining and it's lovely and warm. Unfortunately my ankle is still really painful. It's day 12 now but I don't think much can be done? So frustrating.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/07/2021 09:58

Only following RICE, Wreck. Ankles are buggers for slow healing, sadly.
