Here is thread 4 this year. With an appearance from Mr Bon Jovi himself!

@FireflyGirl

puss there has been more 💩 than I was anticipating!
This is a parenting mantra! 🙈😂

Is there a t shirt with that printed on?

NoWordForFluffy · 05/07/2021 17:11

I'm pretty sure you could have one printed!

OP posts:
pussycatlickinglollyices · 05/07/2021 17:16

I think Firefly might need one. Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 05/07/2021 20:13

Note to self. Refilling the hand wash dispensers after two glasses of wine is not a good idea. I'm such a lightweight 😂

FireflyGirl · 05/07/2021 20:31

puss at the rate we've gone through clothes this week, I'd need at least half a dozen!

DH always has a floordrobe, but we're all living out of the (clean) wash basket at the moment. It's all I can manage to get clothes washed and dried!

On a school night, Woolly ShockShock Wink

pussycatlickinglollyices · 05/07/2021 20:40

Woolly "knit one, purl one, see double drop one" oh bugger! Grin
Do you buy massive bottles or just tip a standard one into a posh one? I just use the bottle the stuff comes in (Dettol Grapefruit flavour) I can't fit a round bottle on or behind any of the sinks.

TheWoollybacksWife · 05/07/2021 20:52

It's crochet tonight puss so chain one, miss a few, fall asleep might be the order of the day.

I use refill pouches everywhere except the downstairs loo where I use Aldi Lime, Basil and Mandarin in a dispenser that matches the decor. Just call me Hyacinth Blush

pussycatlickinglollyices · 05/07/2021 21:35

OK, Mrs Bucket, I mean Bouquet 😂

I have hooks, but crochet patterns might as well be written in martian. I never know whether to have the hook or the yarn at the front or the back or which hand to hold it in. 🤯🤦🏻‍♀️ for once in my life I probably should have listened to my mother and don't ever get me to repeat that 🤫

Morning!

It's has absolutely tipped down overnight. I'd emptied 1 1/2 buckets watering the greenhouse plants yesterday and these are now full to the brim again, and then some. It's still going too!

My allotment will be loving this. The plants respond so much better to rainwater than tap water. Ooh, I've just remembered I had a courgette that was a couple of days off being ready. It'll be marrow-like after this rain! 🙈😂

WreckTangled · 06/07/2021 07:51

We had loads of rain too and the cat woke me up at 4:20 ffs. Kept scratching on the door even after I opened it and saw him he just kept coming back and doing it Angry

CrazyBaubles · 06/07/2021 09:56

That's one of the reasons I couldn't have a cat Wreck.

Woolly I hope your head is ok today..

Lots of rain overnight here and the sky is looking grey still.
I slept loads but woke up tired Hmm so I've been slow to get going this morning.

I've decided I'm going to buy myself a sewing machine as I've wanted one for ages. Need to get stuck into some research as to the best one for a beginner - I won't be doing anything overly fancy but I don't want rubbish one that I'll need to upgrade if I get into it. Any advice / recommendations welcome - I don't know anyone who has one to ask.

HairsprayBabe · 06/07/2021 10:32

fluffy my Ddads courgettes split last week after the rain we got they grew so fast!

HairsprayBabe · 06/07/2021 10:38

crazy I got my sewing machine off Ideal World the shopping channel Grin its a basic singer machine but it does the job (when it isn't shut in the cupboard being ignored)

TheWoollybacksWife · 06/07/2021 11:17

I'm grand. Two (small ones) is my limit - anything more than that and I feel it the next day. Told you I was a lightweight.

Crazy I've heard good things about the John Lewis own brand ones and from a quick look on their website they are 5 star rated. Ask in Arts & Crafts - someone will know.

CrazyBaubles · 06/07/2021 11:34

Woolly I've had a look at a few threads asking for sewing machine recommendations and the answers tend to be Janome, JL (as they're made by Janome) or Brother.
I'm waiting for a friend to come back to me but I'm leaning towards a JL one I think.

Hairspray have you made much with yours?

I'm on a Christmas planning spree (between work). I want to make red tartan napkins and some gift bags so I can reduce wrapping paper use this year.
I also had a little trawl through last years Show me your trees thread and someone mentioned fairly lights that can be multicoloured or warm white which would be perfect as I need new lights and couldn't decide which I'd prefer. Can't find any online at the mo though...

NoWordForFluffy · 06/07/2021 18:08

I couldn't trust myself with a sewing machine. No doubt I would sew over my bloody fingers on the first go! 🙈😂

I'm glad you weren't suffering today, Woolly. I'm a lightweight too these days!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 06/07/2021 19:48

I think after a few practise goes I'll be ok with the machine - it's the threading it etc that will defeat me!
My mum had one for years that she never used, not even once. It came out of the box twice - once so I could practise and once so I could make curtains for our old caravan.
I would have happily taken that off her hands but she gave it away - I'm a bit annoyed about that because she knew I wanted one but never mind. I'll buy my own

What is the consensus on fairy lights for the tree - coloured? Warm white? Ice white? Something else? 🎄

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/07/2021 20:02

Two (small ones) is my limit

My DS says if I licked a wine label Id be pissed Xmas Blush I don'r drink and even the Christmas marzipan would put me over the legal limit !

QVC have designated the 23rd to Christmas-in-July (bumped off the coveted 25th spot by Elemis)

Rain here all night/all day now stopped
And a cat on our bed every night -little male cat . Usually between 4-5am .
I could feel his fur against my face and was relieved it was his tail not the bitey end Xmas Grin

Morning!

It's starting gloomy, but should brighten up.

I have a conference with a client this morning, then an interview with another at lunchtime and a meeting with IT at 2. Not sure when I'll get my other work done! 😂

NerosFiddle · 07/07/2021 08:25

Morning.

I've had to turn over bbc breakfast. I can't listen to the hyperbole about England. To offence.

Dh has told me my birthday/Christmas present early. We're going to London in November to secret cinema.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 07/07/2021 08:36

Morning.
I've dug out my England shirt (from the 1998 World Cup) for later. Grin It's shocking to think that it's old enough to vote Shock

CrazyBaubles · 07/07/2021 10:01

Neros I had to google what secret cinema was. Sounds intriguing!

Fluffy I try to use meeting heavy days to compete admin / boring tasks as they can usually be done in the little bit of time between one meeting and the next.
I hate those days though - I never feel I've been productive enough.

It's DHs morning to wfh today - I've barely seen him though which makes a nice change

HairsprayBabe · 07/07/2021 10:34

Crazy I've made two dresses, some cushion covers and a quilted play mat for the baby I've had it about 6 years so it mainly gets ignored, it’s simple enough that I can always remember how to use it even if its been years!

CrazyBaubles · 07/07/2021 15:56

Roll on 4:30! I was handed a huge piece of work this morning and told it's basically been half arsed by someone who has since quit. Spent all day digging through it, reviewing what was done and needed doing and putting together a plan to get it it done - and 20 mins ago was told it's all needed by next Friday so needs to be my priority. FFS.
