Ah, the sound of buzzing and bouncing at Chez Fluffy
There's nothing like it to send you hunting for Gin
🤦🏻‍♀️😂

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 04/07/2021 10:21

It is raining here as well but not heavily. My daughter is coming round with the guinea pigs this morning which will be great.

CrazyBaubles · 04/07/2021 10:24

No rain here although it's due to start around noon and last most of the afternoon.

I got up to 2 more flowers opening and their first bee visitor so I'm very happy!

DH has gone out to test out his new toy - or as a proper mner would say, he's gone to do his hobby 😂 (he's bought a paddle board and is testing it out for the first time today).
While he's gone I'm having a bacon and egg roll, sorting out a pile of magazines then crocheting I think.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/07/2021 10:33

Well, that's rather outing, Crazy! 🤣😂

I'm still not dressed / at the allotment. I fear it will be a short visit. The rabbit situation has removed my motivation, frankly. 😭😭😭

pussycatlickinglollyices · 04/07/2021 10:38

Crazy if you hadn't told us I would have assumed he'd bought a bicycle and some lycra. 😂

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 04/07/2021 10:40

Maybe you can wear lycra whilst paddle boarding Puss. 🤔

NoWordForFluffy · 04/07/2021 10:43

Wet suits are akin to Lycra, no? 🤔

This was my advert while you lot were talking about hobbies. Even my phone knows that on MN Hobby=Cycling

CrazyBaubles · 04/07/2021 11:03

He's been told if he takes up cycling, fishing, golf or watching football then I'm divorcing him (sorry if anyone else's DH does them) 😂

Fluffy I would worry it was outing however on Facebook over the last few weeks I've seen a lot of people who have bought similar things. I think it's to get ready for another summer without going abroad.

Bacon & egg roll was lovely btw 😋 although I'm feeling a bit guilty as I'm sorting through a pile of slimming world magazines and ripping out any recipes I like Blush

TheWoollybacksWife · 04/07/2021 11:11

My DH is an occasional cyclist and a devoted football fan Crazy (and Rugby League and Cricket) but it usually doesn't impact on me. His cycling is done in the very early morning while I'm still in bed and I get very generous gift vouchers to spend on wool so I don't chat all the way through the footy 😂. It helps that I'm a sports fan too.

CrazyBaubles · 04/07/2021 12:25

DH likes formula one and he goes hiking - this normally takes up a full morning plus an evening each week, he does a full day monthly and two or 3 times each year he goes away for a few days hiking. I also endure him talking to me about planned routes and walking equipment. We also watch rugby matches together and now he's found something new.

Generally I don't mind but because of his work hours, if he takes up time heavy hobbies like golf / fishing I would barely see him.

I'd quite like to pick up some sort of active hobby. My ideal would be kickboxing and a dance-type class but I can't bring myself to sign up as I'm too embarrassed about my size / lack of fitness Blush so I'll just stick with walking the dog, doing yoga and HIIT workouts at home and crafting.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/07/2021 15:52

Crazy, I read 'hiking' as 'hiding' as I was walking with sunlight shining on my screen! 🤣😂 Weirdly, my DH does seem to hide a fair bit. Or, at the very least, vanishes for relatively long periods of time for no apparent reason! 🤷‍♀️🙄

I did lots of weeding today. My raspberry cage was a horror. And had a bloody rabbit burrow in, the little shits. From watching Peter Rabbit, I know it has another end, so I filled it in!

My wildflower patch is beautiful. Some would say they're weeds, but I don't care! 🐝🐝🐝 love them!

We've watched JoJo rabbit this afternoon. Pretty funny.

I keep seeing so many threads about people's dc having to isolate again. I literally don't know anyone who's had this, none of my colleagues or friends with dc at other schools. Can't workout if we're very lucky or if it's just because people will obviously post that they've had to isolate but won't if they haven't Grin

Stir fry for dinner and lemon cheesecake after. My ankle is still a bit painful, not as bad but I have been resting all weekend. Will go to the gym tomorrow but again won't go for a walk. So annoying.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/07/2021 17:25

We're having rhubarb crumble later, with rhubarb I picked this afternoon. 😋 I do love a cheesecake, Wreck, however!

Bearing in mind I live in one of the places which has had the consistently worse figures in the U.K., DS has only had to isolate once. One of the rooms in his school is currently isolating, but I don't know of any in the juniors at the moment. There was vague mention of some though, but I'm not sure we get told if it isn't affecting us. Considering we're 120 pupils per year, I don't think we've done too badly really.

Our PROPER rain has finally started. Plus a thunderstorm! I'm very happy indeed as my plants will get a good soaking!

NerosFiddle · 04/07/2021 21:19

Evening.

We had proper rain storms this afternoon. It was crazy.

We've had so many isolations. I think I've lost count. We believe that I had it last March, and DH had it at the start of the year.

Morning!

We have has so much rain!! We both got woken up by it overnight, briefly. The buckets we put out to catch extra rain in addition to the butts are all an inch from the top! At least I won't need to go and water this week. 😁

pussycatlickinglollyices · 05/07/2021 09:08

Chucked it down here too. We could hear a noise like someone taking a shower at the side of the house, so next time it rains I'll go out to check the gutters/RWP for drips. I think it has to be next door, as we had all our guttering "hoovered" last year you'd be amazed at the amount of crap in them There was no point trying to work it out in the dark at 11pm 😂

CrazyBaubles · 05/07/2021 10:28

No rain here (yet) but we should be getting some soon.

Work are starting to talk about part time return to the offices (possibly not to be implemented for a few months) and it's stressing me out.
I think I need to go back at least 1 day each week for my own mental health. Im spending way too much time on my own but I changed jobs in lock down so new office is a train ride away and I think I've lost a lot of my social skills 😂

pussycatlickinglollyices · 05/07/2021 10:42

I don't think I've any social skills left 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ and I'm not sure I had many to begin with either.😂
Woolly What can I knit with 800g of dk wool?? I bought some because I like the colours I know, fatal error and DH is suggesting a hat! It's going to have to be a flippin' big 'un! 😳👒 It's this one.

TheWoollybacksWife · 05/07/2021 11:04

puss the short answer is "pretty much anything". 800g would make you a sweater/cardigan AND a hat AND gloves AND probably a matching scarf. I don't blame you for buying it - they are lovely colours. Alternatively it would make a decent size lap blanket.

If you've got the patience I would recommend going on to the Woolwarehouse website and clicking on the patterns/leaflets tab. You can then filter by yarn weight. You'll get thousands of results but you can filter again by options like manufacturers (Hayfield is a Sirdar brand and the tensions are the same across their patterns). I like the fact that Woolwarehouse show the pattern detail box so you can see how much yarn the different sizes need before you buy. Many of them are downloadable too so you can get cracking straight away.

Ravelry is a good online pattern resource. If you don't already have an account it's free to sign up and you can search the pattern database and filter the results until you find a manageable number of patterns to check out.

TheWoollybacksWife · 05/07/2021 11:07

We've got sunny intervals so I've got washing out. I don't think we had significant amounts of rain last night unless it fell after I went to bed. I was aware of a couple of showers earlier in the evening but we were watching the Rugby from St. Helens and it was hosing it down 🌧🌧🌧

FireflyGirl · 05/07/2021 13:13

It's been like that Winnie the Pooh story here - it rained, and it rained, and it rained. Efelumps and Woozels! Thunderstorms all night!

We've had an eventful couple of weeks - Morrison's 'improved' the recipe for some of their dark chocolate, and I'd eaten a couple of pieces a day for 3 days before I realised, so DD had a poorly tummy, then DS caught cold, then DD caught the cold, then it turned into a chest infection, then the antibiotics gave her a runny tummy, then DS got sent home from school as his bubble burst...

Love that your bunny knowledge is based on Peter Rabbit, Fluffy Grin but I'm so tired, I thought you were excited about watering your pants! Thought that was a euphemism Wink

pussycatlickinglollyices · 05/07/2021 13:27

Firefly It sounds like you've had a 💩 week or 2.

Woolly Thank You. I'll have a look at WW first. I didn't think it would be enough for a cardi - I'll never see a size 14 18 again🤦🏻‍♀️😳
I did see a lovely shawl with a ruffle around the edges - that would be lovely for winter, although by the time I've finished it, it will probably be next winter 🤔

FireflyGirl · 05/07/2021 16:20

puss there has been more 💩 than I was anticipating!
