Wreck Those days are long gone for me. We were asked if we were over 21, but she was laughing when she said it. 😿🤷🏻‍♀️
why enjoy your weekend.
fluffy are Next selling Laura Ashley furniture yet? I wanted a pair of sofas from there. I know they're expensive, but I only intend buying one more pair before I die. 😹 They went bust before I got the chance. DH arse went through the springs at one end of the sofa a few months back. It creaks when he sits down very gingerly 😳

CrazyBaubles · 02/07/2021 21:09

It looks as though Next are selling them - here puss and they look lovely.

We're back from our meal. Was lovely and a nice change from looking at my house!

Have come back and watered the plants. I think I may have written off my wildflowers too early because I have no patience or gardening knowledge as what I thought was a collection of random grass has developed buds and one of them is showing beautiful colour (see pics).

Thanks Crazy I'll have a look Smile There were 2 Laura Ashley shops locally, but obvs they closed and I don't think our Next have furniture. DH would insist on sitting on it before "we" (I) pay for it! Grin
I think that's a cornflower, I had some white ones last summer and they last ages, well into autumn.
I watered the spuds and carrots last night and it started to rain before I did the other plants. It's raining again now, so I might not need the hose today.

Morning!

I hope our rain comes soon. It's forecast at monsoon level from 9. We really need it!

The neighbour at the bottom of the garden donated a trampoline to us yesterday. It fills the bloody lawn! 🙄🙈🤣 The kids are over the moon though as they've wanted one for ages!

Our bigger Next has furniture, but Aintree is better as it's massive! It's only about a 25 minute drive if there's no traffic, so I do sometimes pop across.

Morning all. Due rain all day today so not planning much.

WreckTangled · 03/07/2021 07:42

Cloudy here today. Dh is working. I can't go anywhere as I've hurt my ankle and after ignoring it all week I can barely walk now.

CrazyBaubles · 03/07/2021 09:33

Morning.
The local Next here has furniture but I only tend to go in there at Christmas because I'm too tight for Next prices.

puss I hope you're right about the cornflower and that they last throughout the summer. It would be nice to have a colourful bee haven at the bottom of the garden.

That's very nice of your neighbour Fluffy

Wreck I hope your ankle feels better soon.

Rain due on and off all day here too. We have an Iceland delivery this morning then we're doing the weekly food shop and possibly popping into my office (for the first time since March 2020) so I can empty my desk. No other plans except boring chores...

HairsprayBabe · 03/07/2021 10:59

Morning look at me keeping up with the thread!

We have my SD this weekend, and it is piddling it down so I think we might be getting on top of each other a bit by Monday

NoWordForFluffy · 03/07/2021 11:13

We had some heavy rain for a bit. Our buckets have a few inches of rain in them already. There's a lull in the rain for a bit, but then it gets worse again later with the risk of storms.

Crazy, I generally only buy in the Next sale!

TheWoollybacksWife · 03/07/2021 12:00

Afternoon all!

Lachy I'm cross on your behalf. No wonder you're upset.

Wreck hope your ankle gets better quickly.

why enjoy your weekend off. Sorry the weather isn't a bit better for you.

puss we have a creaking sofa too. I genuinely despise my sofas but the creaky one isn't used often and DH won't be up for changing them until they are truly knackered.

I have bought a couple of presents. Concert tickets for a concert that has now been postponed until next year, a guitar accessory for DS and a present for DD2 that I put in to make up free delivery for an Amazon parcel.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 03/07/2021 12:50

Woolly DH bought the sofa and chair in 2001 when he bought his old house.
I want to get 2 sofas so we get one each and move the telly...he's coming around to the idea, so I think looking at sofas is the next prod he needs step. Halo Grin

HairsprayBabe · 03/07/2021 18:38

So we got an email from SD school earlier and she is having to self isolate now so her mum has picked her up and we are all getting a test to be on the safe side

Any suggestions on how to throat swab an 11 month old Hmm

Also! Trying to buy some festive clothes on the cheap for the baby but I can't work out what size he will be in at Christmas- he has just gone into 12-18 months, but he is only just 11 months, so he will most likely be coming to the end of 18-24 or just going into 2-3 I can't work it out Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 03/07/2021 18:46

Once I finally got my arse into gear, I had a productive day today.

I took DD into town this morning to get some new vests to sleep in during the summer, from Primark. She won't wear the ones I'd already got her, so hopefully she'll wear these ones, as she chose the damn things. We also got new ankle socks for school plus Minecraft trainer socks for them both! 🙄 DD also skanked me for a t-shirt. We then went to Card Factory so she could choose a card to give to DS for his birthday. They had some Marvel wrapping paper in, which they don't always have, so I cleared them out of it, as it's brilliant and so cheap!

This afternoon I went and strimmed the allotment, then picked up a parcel from the Amazon lockers at Dobbies and got a load of reduced stuff in the Sainsbury's there. DH then collected me so we could go to Wilko to get compost and a massive plant pot, as I had plants which desperately needed relocating, which I did when I got back. (You can't park for free near Wilko, so DH circled then picked me up from the drop off / pick up point nearby.)

I've also weeded the veg area and put my final load of pea plants in the ground. No point taking them to the allotment as the rabbits have eaten the ones which were there. They've eaten some of my small lavender plants this week. Sigh.

It's tiny frog time at the allotment. They're very cute!

The larger sizes last a while, Hairspray. I think you'll be safe with 18-24.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 03/07/2021 18:51

I probably wouldn't swab an 11 month old, their nostrils are so small it'll be tricky (and painful) to get anything worth testing and it's only nose at that age.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/07/2021 19:47

Ahhhhh cute little froglet Xmas Grin

I only get slugs /snails in my garden.
Or foxes
Used to get hedgehogs but now the fences are better they cannot get in.

CrazyBaubles · 03/07/2021 20:19

Fluffy you have been busy! Are you resting up / cross stitching for the rest of the evening?

Hairspray I wouldn't test a baby that young either. Dsis is just getting over Covid and didn't test her 2 little ones (3 and 4yo). We're pretty sure they both had it but the NHS helpline thing said they didn't need to be tested.

70 we had walls in the old house and here so no hedgehogs either.
I did read a thread the other day about replacing fences (was a neighbour dispute one) and lots of posters said to remember to cut a little 'hedgehog highway' in the new fence so they could still come through.

Very exciting day here

We did the food shopping and I bought a giant watering can from Aldi because I am fed of doing multiple trips with the tiny one.
House has been thoroughly cleaned and we've watched the rugby and had pizza for tea.
I've finished my mini Christmas cross stitch (I altered the pattern a little. Also, it is evenly stitched around the edges I just couldn't get that in photo) and given the dog 2 small walks.

Also, the flower I took a pic of yesterday has opened now - my first proper flower Grin

That I am, Crazy! 😁

Yes, hedgehog highways are vital for the hedgehog population. Get your saw out, 70!

Lovely flower, Crazy. 🌸

Ha! No sawing here Fluffy
We've just spent a load on new fencing (and I don't want NDN dog in my garden TBH)

Back in the guinea-pig days , I lifted our pigs outdoor wooden shelter .....to find they'd sub'let it to a hedgehog ! (The piggies had stopped grazing at that time of year)
I pushed some straw into the doorway and left ot to make up its bed .
(They stink too ) !

Morning. Been awake since 7 thanks to heavy rain which startled the dog and made him whine 🙄
Haven't made it out of bed yet though.

SpnBaby1967 · 04/07/2021 08:19

Morning!

We just bought a new house, so my disposable income has taken a big dent (but the house is lush & huge & exactly what we needed Grin ) so I need tips on saving etc.

Usually, as DH is paid 4 weekly so we get an "extra" pay packet that doesnt get spent on bills etc. But this year that pay packet is being eaten into by new house things as we needed some extra furniture etc.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/07/2021 08:21

Our rain isn't that heavy, more's the pity! We are forecast more though, so maybe we will catch up!

We're all only just getting up. Must've needed the sleep. 😴

I need to go back to the allotment today. Lots of weeding to do!

OP posts:
pussycatlickinglollyices · 04/07/2021 09:26

Chucking it down here now - proper heavy stuff.
Just managed to top up the bird table and avoid treading in last nights hog poo and run back inside before it started.
It was a lovely morning at 5 🤷🏻‍♀️ but it's darker now.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/07/2021 09:34

It's dry here still. The kids are on the trampoline and the neighbours no doubt hate us, including the one who gave us the damn thing! while it remains dry.

So many bees on our poppies this morning; it's all you can hear down that end of the garden. 🐝 🐝 🐝
