Morning all, very grey and wet here this morning. Might take DS to the local soft play this morning and do some baking this afternoon. Need to pick up picnic stuff for tomorrow too.

NoWordForFluffy · 13/08/2021 07:02

Morning!

I think that's the wet we're due tomorrow, Most; it's supposedly dry here today. Do we know when the alleged heatwave is coming, as there's no sign on any forecast I look at?!

OP posts:
Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 13/08/2021 07:06

Same, keep checking the forecast but no sign. Hope it doesn't come tbh.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 13/08/2021 07:06

Heatwave? It's probably due around the 1st Sept when the kids go back to school.

NoWordForFluffy · 13/08/2021 07:07

Yeah. Warm is nice. Heatwave not so much!

It's grey here but we had a lovely sunrise and for the next ten days we're forecast sun with cloud and 21° so that'll do. It is feeling autumnal though.

NerosFiddle · 13/08/2021 08:32

Morning.

Pouring down here too. Hopefully it'll be at least dry next week when Dh is on his holidays.

CrazyBaubles · 13/08/2021 15:54

Hi. We've been without a bar of signal for 2 days so have stopped in a pub we know with wifi so we can connect with the world for a minute while we have a drink.

MIL left last night and as much as I like her, I am exhausted. Looking forward to a few days or pure relaxation now as we've done a fair bit of travelling and days out.
My plan for the next few days are a mix of wandering along beaches, Watching DH on his paddle board, eating, cross stitching and starting to make some Christmas lists reading. Even ddog is exhausted 🥱

Weather is lovely here - started slightly grey but there has been blue sky since 1pm.

Will think about flu jabs etc once I'm home.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 13/08/2021 16:47

Going to see a former school friend tonight. We usually meet up a couple of times a year but for obvious reasons (not mentioning the word) we have not seen each other since 2019. I spotted her car outside her parents house yesterday and was straight on the phone to see if she was about.

Not thinking about any jabs at the moment. Work will let me know what the plan is at some point.

Looks a bit meh here but just watched the news, Spain has 49c Xmas Shock . The risks to health and the risks of fire are immense .
Think I'll stick with meh .

No plans for today , some tidying , waiting for shopping delivery , might go to Lakeside with DD (but she's been bingewatching Netflicks so it might be a while till I get anything more than coffffeee from her)

NoWordForFluffy · 14/08/2021 08:25

Bloody hell. I'm happy with meh too, as 49° wouldn't be anywhere close to pleasant!

I'm doing some cleaning and painting today. Plus a wander to Aldi for those well known essentials of loo roll and crisps! Maybe some cider if they have the wintery one I like back in stock. Can't recall the flavour but I'll know it when I see it! #peribrain

pussycatlickinglollyices · 14/08/2021 09:08

I do the "I'll know it when I see it" thing too. Just back from Sains and Argos. Had to buy DH a new mobile as his has gone on the blink. Only a cheepo Nokia PAYG, nothing smarter than the user here 😂
49 would kill me, anything over about 23 is too much and I turn into a big purple leaky mess 🥵
why I hope you enjoyed your evening.

FireflyGirl · 14/08/2021 10:09

49?? Yikes! I think I'll stick with meh too!

Fluffy I saw #peribrain and was trying to work out why periperi would make you forgetful Blush

In my defense, it's been a looooong 2 weeks!

DD caught a virus and it's been horrific. DN had the same thing and ended up in hospital for 4 days because his oxygen level kept dropping to 75%, he even ended up sedated on HDU. Thankfully, they're both much better now.

I need to take stock of what I've already bought then get myself organised for Christmas! I'm usually nearly finished by now!

pussycatlickinglollyices · 14/08/2021 10:29

There's something on the BBC business pages about supply issues, so the preparedness we have Halo seems to be the sensible path again this year. Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 14/08/2021 16:53

And yet people still mock those of us who are prepared!

I've had a busy day of gardening, cleaning, decorating and popping to Aldi. They didn't have the winter cider I had before, but there was a different one I decided to try instead. DS came with me, so I got skanked for soft fruit and biscuits! Plus more bloody ice lollies. Their ice lolly habit is costing a fortune during the holidays! 😂🤣

NoWordForFluffy · 14/08/2021 16:54

Ooh. I made chocolate brownie too. It's smells amazing!

MMmmmmm Brownie said in the Homer "beer" voice
You don't really want to eat that, do you??
You've got my address and a jiffy bag 😋😂😂

Firefly I'm glad DD and DN are ok now. BearBear

FireflyGirl · 14/08/2021 22:44

I think Fluffy needs to send some to each of us, so we can properly taste test it Wink

We've spent the day sorting through the man cave to turn it into DD's bedroom (loooong process, it's been like that for 8 years!!), visiting DMIL for the first time in 2 weeks due to illness, and I took DS swimming for the third time this week. He is loving the summer holidays, he will not want to go back come September!

Good Luck with the ManCave Firefly , you'll discover loads of things that "must be kept" and have to find another home for them.

Chocolate Brownie is delicious and needs a good 12-24 hours to mature before eating otherwise it just tastes like chocolate cake . So if Fluffy gets it couriered out to us today it'll be perfect Xmas Grin

I might try Blondies , I have a bag of white chocolate drops , never tried them before though

NoWordForFluffy · 15/08/2021 08:37

Morning!

I think I was tired yesterday; I allegedly had 9 hours 47 minutes sleep last night! 😱 I conked out on the sofa before 10, then went up to bed at about 11.30. I woke up at about 8. I think it was more likely 9 hours. Still way more than I usually get though!

Lots more rain overnight. Hurrah! No need to water the allotment. 😁

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 15/08/2021 08:38

I made some pear Blondies last year, 70. From Good Food magazine, I think.

CrazyBaubles · 15/08/2021 08:49

Morning! Love the idea of sending your choc brownie to us but will have to forgo mine as we're moving a lot Sad

It's very grey and drizzly here and we have a chilled out day planned so I think I'll keep working on my cross stitch which is Christmas themed (pic).

Firefly do you have a lot more work to do on the man-cave?

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/08/2021 08:51

Morning.

I haven't baked in ages. The nearest I got was freezing some apples for crumble when the weather gets cooler. I need to do a sort out of my freezers and start filling them properly. They're mostly full of ice and ice cream currently. Once DS heads back to school next month I'll get a little more prepared.

CrazyBaubles · 15/08/2021 08:57

I forgot the pic Blush
