Here is thread 4 this year. With an appearance from Mr Bon Jovi himself!

Morning.

Dh is a Dec birthday too. He's 40 next year and we were planning on saving for a big holiday to Florida but don't think that's going to work out.

It's very overcast here. Looks like it's about to downpour any minute.

My Sainsbury's delivery is due today. They've subbed normal mushrooms for garlic breaded mushrooms and onions for garlic 🤷‍♀️

NoWordForFluffy · 28/07/2021 11:03

It's very dark here too. Wish it would just rain (our % chance has dropped and it's been pushed back too 😡).

What might you do instead, Nero?

We've had a few showers today already.

Crazy Grin just usual teen antics I think!

I'm taking the dc swimming later as their school pool is open. £2 per child so a nice cheap activity.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/07/2021 13:12

Finally! It's heavy and horizontal! Hopefully it lasts a fair while. There is also thunder rumbling. Doesn't seem too local though!

Bargain swimming, Wreck!

NoWordForFluffy · 28/07/2021 13:23

Oh. And short-lived! The buckets have increased their level by about an inch though.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 28/07/2021 17:12

We've had some rain!! Not much, but lots of rumbling and it went quite dark.
Nero it's a bit garlic-heavy...unless you're expecting Dracula to pop in for afternoon tea? 😂

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/07/2021 17:41

We had a mid afternoon downpour ( luckily I was inside)
You are all welcome to it , I shall waft it to you with a big bit a corrugated iron.
There's been more localised flooding on roads

TheWoollybacksWife · 28/07/2021 19:25

We had a massive downpour. The baskets won't need watering tonight and I hope at least one of each pair of butts will be filled.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/07/2021 20:07

Corrrr 150 days .
Nice round figure .

I showed DS my lovely Christmas decoration purchases (prelit Fairy Houses) he was Its months till Christmas ...I put him straight !

FireflyGirl · 28/07/2021 21:41

Lots of rain here too, as well as rumbling. Took DS to the park with DSis and DN, and the heavens opened as I was putting the pram back in the car!!

I'll have the corrugated iron, 70. I've seen some DIY flower beds I want in the garden which need corrugate! Preferably 20mx2m, please Wink

Did the kids enjoy swimming, Wreck? I took DS on Monday morning for the first time since last March, he was so excited!

Most that sounds amazing! Hope you're enjoying it. If the numbers don't go crazy again, I've nearly persuaded DH we should go away for a few days at the end of the holidays. Wish me luck...

NoWordForFluffy · 28/07/2021 23:59

We've had another 5 minute burst of rain, filling the buckets with another inch of water. Our weather seems to have forgotten how to rain properly! 🙄

Morning folks. Only vaguely awake at the moment I am sure that will change (or not).

Woolly the hail storm was pretty fabulous last night wasn't it?

NoWordForFluffy · 29/07/2021 08:07

Morning!

It's a touch breezy here, it has to be said! We closed the greenhouse last night because of it. It's also a little damp outside, but seems to be brightening (and isn't exactly much rain either).

We haven't had any hail. It was forecast, but was then taken off the forecast!

It sounds very wet outside. Hurrah!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/07/2021 07:20

I wanted to put washing out today .
Sulks.

NoWordForFluffy · 30/07/2021 07:34

The buckets aren't very full, so it hasn't rained hugely. I think it's only forecast til early afternoon. Put your washing out later, 70!

Wet and windy here. I'm at the gym and taking the dc swimming again in a bit.

CrazyBaubles · 30/07/2021 09:03

Absolutely tipping down here and has been since 8 last night. I led in bed listening to it until 3am as I couldn't sleep 🙄

Bloody knackered today but it's my last day in work before 3 weeks off and I'm feeling Christmassy Xmas Smile

Plan is to finish as much of my work as humanly possible then do a bit of cleaning. Then I'm supposed to be going to the pub but am 50/50 about cancelling purely because I feel so tired and hormonally crampy.

TheWoollybacksWife · 30/07/2021 09:23

Morning.

I started knitting Christmas socks this week. Hoping to make some for the WH sale and some for my DDs.

I had a message from some friends who are holidaying in Cornwall in the teeth of the storm. It doesn't sound pleasant. It was a bit windy here last night but nothing too bad (and today isn't bin day so no chasing tin cans down the road in the early hours).

pussycatlickinglollyices · 30/07/2021 10:19

Woolly I've chased tin cans down the road at 3am, in my PJs, on bin-day before now. 😂 More than twice - you'd think I'd learn 🤦🏻‍♀️

We tried out the central heating this morning, as it was nice and cool (I always test it at least once in the summer months, just to make sure it's still working) and one of the radiators is stone cold. I've phoned the local gas/plumbing repair firm and left a message...we'll see what happens. If it's like getting a plumber to fix the shower, I won't hold my breath.

We had rain overnight, and a little light shower this morning, but the sun is coming out now and the big dark rain clouds seem to be heading west.

Crazy my cramps are back again too. I'm getting quite bored of them, frankly.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/07/2021 10:30

Jeremy Vine is now discussing "Too Soon To Start Christmas Shopping"

The answer is of course "Hell, No" Xmas Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 30/07/2021 10:36

puss I had to chase the contents of our recycling bin at 3am late last year (I think). Most of my neighbours have CCTV and ring doorbells so I was rather anxious about footage being posted on the residents FB page for a couple of weeks afterwards.

I'm doing a charity Christmas gift thing - would a 5 year old prefer a baby doll or a Barbie?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/07/2021 10:50

II'm doing a charity Christmas gift thing - would a 5 year old prefer a baby doll or a Barbie?

I know my DD loved her Baby Annabel dolls , I used to get very tiny nappes ( real ones rather than the ££ doll ones) and someone at school gave me some tiny baby clothes her DD had outgrown.

But when the birthday parties started , there were loads of Bratz Girls dolls ( very distinctive box ) being given.

Or throw a spanner in the works with these ........... Xmas Grin

Woa-oh, we're halfway there...Countdown to Christmas 2021 (thread 4)
TheWoollybacksWife · 30/07/2021 10:58

That pretty much sums up my dilemma 70

DD1 never really bothered with dolls - she had one when she was very small but preferred her teddy. DD2 had two lovely soft bodied dolls and I used to buy nappies and knit clothes for them. Then she was given a Bratz doll - she wasn't even put off them finding out that the whole foot came off, not just the shoe.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 30/07/2021 11:03

NDNs have become quite paranoid lately it's a long story and have installed loads of CCTV. One of the ones at the front catches everything coming into the middle of the cul-de-sac, so includes our drive/cars/front lawn. I haven't 👋🏻 at it yet more tempted to moon at it tbh but DH has said he's not trimming the tree at the front this year to stop her gawping 😂
The thing is, if you are the only house out of 10 to have multiple CCTV cameras and a ring doorbell...won't the burglar be more likely to target your house - you must have something worth stealing?
They never set their alarm, leave windows open when they go out and don't double lock the front door either.
