We use the hose / tap water for heavy watering. The chillies, lemon trees and tomatoes get watered from the butts generally.

My friend is having my sulky lemon tree (flowers but doesn't bear fruit) to put in her polytunnel. We shall see if it perks up for her! I'm keeping the happy / fruiting one!

Morning!

It's lovely here. Sunny but breezy. Perfect for the allotment. I'm standing here watering the sweetcorn right now!

DS had an ace day yesterday. So. Much. Lego! 😁

Happy Rudolph Day Xmas Grin

I have a painful right shoulder , last night before I went to bed it just kind of 'fixed' . I've been moving my arm to loosen it , still sore but not as much . I haven't done anything to injure it , just one of those maddening things . I had it before , couple of months back and it sorted itself of its own accord .

No Christmas Planning but I have ordered new bedding sheets/pillowcase for my winter bedding . They were on my watchlist for ages .

I;m debating if my DC would like some Hotel Chocolat Christmas sweets (QVC have them , they don't get sent till Oct . Then I can congratulate myself for being So Organised Xmas Grin )

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 25/07/2021 15:22

Happy Rudolph Day and happy belated birthday to fluffy's DS!

My Rudolph Day activity is starting this years major Christmas cross stitch. Going on holiday tomorrow so hopefully get a decent amount done :)

NoWordForFluffy · 25/07/2021 19:26

I've broken myself after 6 hours at the allotment! Lots of weeding done, plus some more seeds in the ground. I can concentrate on weeding from next week as everything is now in the ground. And hopefully we get the forecast rain this week so I won't have to waste time watering (yes, they need water to stay alive, but it feels like a terribly inefficient use of time when there is so much other stuff to also do!).

I dug up some spuds today which are red all the way through! I forget their name. I also picked about half a tonne of beans. 🤣

DD's pumpkin is about the size of a basketball now. DS' plant is a bit behind, but does have fruit on it. 🎃🎃🎃

This time 5 months I'll be sitting with a bottle of wine watching the next series of Bridgerton 🤞

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/07/2021 21:11

According to the local news and TFL there's horrendous flooding , loads of stations closed , some roads under water , especially areas where the roads 'dip' .

We've had a load of rain dumped . hopefully most will clear (clay soil here) .

Morning!

I am definitely broken...everything aches / burns / is generally sore! Proper workout, it would appear!

70, I saw the flooding. They were saying that there was 100mm rainfall in a very short space of time.

I hope your shoulder is feeling better today 70

I missed the Rudolph day altogether yesterday as I got roped in to babysitting nephew and niece before going to my sisters for nieces birthday tea party. By the time I got home I was wiped out and good for nothing but a tiny bit of cross stitch and bed.

What is your major Christmas cross stitch most? Is it the wreath / Robin one?

No rain here since early the storm on Saturday morning and it's hot again today but we're did a storm this afternoon. If that doesn't come to anything I'll have to go out and water the garden though.

I'm feeling very festive today, not sure why, I just really want to jump into planning... Xmas Smile

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/07/2021 17:20

Aye it's loosened up Crazy I just kept stretching it and not sleeping on that side .
Nothing Christmassey happening here , bit meh , need a routine break I think . I'm off in a couple of weeks which is nice .

Looking online for some pre-Christmas trips .

Evening.
It's gone quite grey here...I wonder if we're due some of that elusive rain that everyone else has had except us? It's Gobi-esque...like a bad sci-fi Mars landscape. The lawn is brown. DH has had his wonder-hose out every evening, and it's just not enough!!
🤦🏻‍♀️😂😂

NoWordForFluffy · 26/07/2021 19:26

When did you last have rain, Puss? We've not had it for a bit!

I'm hoping it does rain as forecast tomorrow / Weds.

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 26/07/2021 19:49

I'm feeling the same 70 - not helped that I'm WFH while DH has spending a lot of time relaxing / doing things he enjoys 🙄

Wonder-hose puss Blush 😂
No rain here either. The 'storm' amounted to a giant grey cloud that was gone within 20 mins and did not provide a single raindrop.

Ive got the beginnings of a cracking headache and yet another start-of-a-period 😫 Feeling very sorry for myself tonight, my stomach is is cramping so much it's physically aching but I need to to sort itself out by next week when we're away!

pussycatlickinglollyices · 26/07/2021 21:18

fluffy one night when the Euros were on I think, DH thinks around 4 wks. This is excluding the mist/drizzle the other morning, as it evaporated before it actually made it to the ground. 😂
The lawn has pulled away from the patio in places. Shock It's lucky we bought some grass seed.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 26/07/2021 21:24

fluffy 4th July according to this thread. ☔☔☔ DH was a week out.

Morning!

I think we had rain the week after you when I didn't send it your way! as I got up early the last two weekends to water the allotment, plus I went last Thursday, but I didn't need to go midweek the week before, or the preceding weekend. Maybe Monday 12 July, thinking about it. We've had a couple of prolonged dry spells this year though, so it's shifted down your way!

Planning the washing this week is fun at the moment! We'll have to choose our times carefully. 😂

Hi folks doing my usual slump on the edge of the bed contemplating my life choices 🤣

My son did not come home last night and did not say where he was. I did not sleep very well as I would have preferred to know he was not coming back, but he is an adult so did not want to be the mother that texts non stop. He has texted to ask for his work clothes to be dropped off though so all is good.

WreckTangled · 27/07/2021 07:35

We've had loads of rain. It was so heavy in the night it woke me up.

I've been to the gym, first time in three weeks as my ankle is finally on the mend.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/07/2021 07:49

I want loads of rain too!

Hopefully our forecast is right for a bloody change!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 27/07/2021 08:13

I've woken up to lots of rain overnight too (sorry fluffy )

I always got in trouble for doing that why, even as an adult. I remember thinking my mum was being dramatic but I completely understand it now I'm older.

Work today then out for a meal this evening for my dm's birthday. I realised last night that I've bought her presents but not a card 🙄 so will have to pick one up today.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/07/2021 08:18

I used to stay out all the time. But it was safer for me to walk back in a group and stay out (on the other side of town) than walk home alone in the small hours. And it was pre-mobiles, so short of using a carrier pigeon or waking the house with a call, there wasn't much choice as to whether to tell them! 🤣

Hopefully the rain is heading our way! 🤞

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 27/07/2021 08:25

I often used to come walking in just as my dad was leaving for work. This was aged 17-19. My parents were really lax (I was my dad's third and then he had two more with my step mum so I was left to it, hence why I messed up my life so much during those years 🙃).

CrazyBaubles · 27/07/2021 08:27

Same Fluffy - I had a mobile phone as I got to 17ish but would regularly go out and decide to stay at friends houses as they all lived close together and I lived miles away so would have had be the last person in the taxi.
Quite often my friends parents would push me to stay at theirs and I'd fib and say I'd let my mum know but I never did. No idea why, my mum probably thought I was doing something terrible when really I was passed out at a friends house then letting their parents look after us while we were hungover in the morning Blush😂

CrazyBaubles · 27/07/2021 08:31

Letting my mum know if I was coming home or not was pretty much the only rule we had - things were very lax in our house too Wreck

Do you look back at the things you did and wonder how you functioned?
At 17 I was in full time college, had 2 PT jobs and went out a lot. My weekends started on a Thursday and basically went - college, work, pub, bed. I would do college all day on Friday, work 4 hours (4-8), go to the pub when I finished, home at 1am-ish, work Saturday 9-5, out clubbing, home at 4am then start work at 8:30 on Sunday, hungover and feeling sick.
