End of an era, Wreck!

Is her secondary school massive? I went from a village school with about 80 pupils in it to a secondary with well over 1,000. It was a touch overwhelming to start with!

Yes over 1000. Luckily the biggest feeder school this year is one with a bulge year of 42 so most of them will all be in the same position (ie coming from a small school). In my job I've met nearly every single one of them briefly

70 I've always wanted guinea pigs but we've always had dogs so we've never done it.
Don't think DH would agree - he's very dogs or nothing when it comes to pets.

I think I'll have a look at the Hairy Bikers Christmas book, and maybe Nigel Slaters one too. I only have the Jamie O one - but I don't cook much over Christmas so it's not really needed. I want them more to have something to look at to make me feel festive

Can't believe your DH has a duvet puss! We've been sleeping with a fan on and using just the duvet cover as a sheet. Duvet is rolled up in the airing cupboard.

most how many / what Christmas cross stitches do you have planned?
I'm working on my Croeso kit now, then I have 2 Christmas cards to make. If I have time I also have a small horse one I want to make for MIL (all in pics).

HomeSense/TKMaxx had Hallowe'en things in .......

That's about right 70 - means by September the Christmas stuff will come in. I rely on my dm to keep me updated (she works in TK maxx). I usually know stuff is coming in as she will buy something completely random in September (like a box of baubles / a wreath / towels - all previous examples)

I was this close > < to buying a Hallowe'en mug , but I have trouble getting them in the cupboard at the moment , I don't need another .

I did buy some QVC ornament , light up and (hopefully) Cat Proof

Morning!

It's DS' birthday today, so I've been up a while finishing his cake off. With the bonus addition of some lemon and orange jelly slices which DD made DH buy in Asda yesterday! He managed to get up before I'd finished it, but was very patient waiting for me to finish before opening his presents. 😁

It's definitely cooler / less oppressive today. Hurrah.

We're meant to be going to the wetlands place today, but we shall see if the draw of Lego-building is too great. 🤣

On a late today. The ward is a nightmare at the moment. I got hit again yesterday which wasn't pleasant.

We had thunder and rain in the early hours -DH said lightning but I wasn't awake enough to hear it .

I went out yesterday with my DS (he's officially a NEET Not in Employment Education or Training ) and claimed to be growing out of all his clothes and skint .
So got him some TShirts, training shoes and underwear . Got him loungewear last week .
He'll need a suit when he starts work , might order that online and get him to try on at home though.

Ear Piercing on the first weekend of the summer holidays ...I remember that .
I keep thinking about getting my tragus done but I wonder if I could sleep on /off my ear and would my mask get caught

I've got lots of piercings, some now closed up. Is there one side you sleep on more than the other? I remember it being uncomfortable to sleep even when I first got my lobes done. I can barely wear earrings now, after having three in each ear, since I got pregnant I find them so irritating.

We had a big storm too apparently but dh and I slept through it.

Sorry work is as hard as ever why. Not nice to be hit, I'm sure the huge pay rise we're going to get will make it worthwhile

I used to have 10 in my right ear, 3 in my left, 2 in my nose and my belly button. I have none now! I re-pierced my lobes when I got married, but not worn them since (almost 9 years!).

Wreck / why I think you all deserve a massive pay rise to be honest - can't think of many places where the work is paid so poorly in relation to how important it is!

I've had my ears pieced 3 times (after letting them close the first 2). Have kept the 3rd one open since I was a teen.
I did have my tongue done at 15 and quite miss that - I took it out for my wedding and just let it close up which I regret.
That's it for me except a stupid tattoo I got at 17 🙄

Thunder woke me at 6. I sat in the conservatory and watched the lightening for half hour then went back to bed.
It's lovely and cool here today.

We're just back from our first trip to Costco. It was ok and we spent a small fortune but I'm expecting it to be much better when we go back in the run up to Christmas!

I used to have my tongue done too crazy. And have had my nose done twice. Might get it done again. Also have my nipples done I did have my belly button pierced but regret that as it looks awful post babies.

Costco starts selling their Christmas stock in Sept Wreck so give yourself a head start to get in there Usually once the DC go back to school they start .

No job yet Crazy but he's getting his CV out there and applying . I thnk he wants a few larding weeks and he's travelling with me to DParents house (and see his Gran)

I made some Cinnamon Buns for breakfast , I think they were a bit warm rising though , bit chewey . I'm still working on perfection so I can effortlessly turn out a batch on Christmas morning .

DD has a bellybutton piercing but she has the perfect abdomen and if she decides against it at any time it is easy enough to remove but she will be left with a small scar . They went through a populer phase/ chavvy phase (I;m in Essex I'm allowed to say it) then popular again.
I was "seriously ?" when she wanted it done , and insisted she thought about it and went to a proper tattoo/piercer

I had a totally flat stomach, til DD tore my abs, now it's wrecked.

You're very brave Wreck. I booked in to have my nipples done twice and chickened out each time 😂

Have never looked at having my nose done because I have nosebleeds fairly regularly so don't want anyone messing with that!

We went back out after unloading the Costco haul and walking the dog. DH went food shopping while I had a mooch around the craft shop - have bought some christmas fabrics ready for when I learn how to use my sewing machine....

Oh I love the fabric! It doesn't hurt too much, well it does but by the time you've thought 'oh fuck that hurts' it's all done.

Blimey you're brave getting your nipples pierced! DD is badgering to get her ears pierced but as we are still having battles with her over cleaning her teeth it ain't happening!

Dd has waited years, I've always said between primary and secondary school and has to be done with a needle not a gun. She was very brave.

I've only got my ears pierced once. I always fancied a second set but never got round to it and I think it's too late now.

My second hand copy of the Hairy Bikers Christmas book arrived this morning. It's really good.

I had some apples that were not getting eaten so I've stewed them and will freeze them for apple crumble later in the year. They've needed doing for a couple of days but it was too damn hot. We had about 12 drops of rain when I was driving back from the butcher this morning but nothing since. We have 4 water butts and they are all empty so we could do with a downpour.

We've been to the pub and DS had an adult meal (all day brunch, without eggs / tomato), exactly the same as he had last year! 🤣😂

They're building Lego and eating plates of salad veg before bed now. I won't be far behind them. I'm knackered! Early start for watering tomorrow.

Love the fabric, crazy. Aldi does lovely fat quarters nearer the time too.

4 butts, Woolly?! We have 2, and they're still relatively full after the last rain we had, thankfully.

@WreckTangled I've said the same. They will definitely be done with a needle. Doesn't help that there are a few girls in her class with pierced ears either!

Me too puss. No to tomatoes but yes to scrambled eggs.

4 butts Fluffy. 2 big ones at the back and two smaller ones at the front. We've got lots of baskets, pots and troughs so use a lot of water. Our spuds seems to be drooping now so we might dig one bucket up this week to see what we've got.

lachy I had a flick through when I opened the parcel this morning. It looks fantastic and I do like their style of writing. I'm not wishing time away but the cooler weather with roasts and hot puddings will be very welcome.

It doesn't help that my knitting projects for the next few weeks include Christmas socks. They are lovely and light to knit compared to the blanket I have planned for later in the year.
