Crazy Hamster? Pic please 🐹 - only because DH has fed/watered NDNs hamster for their last 3 holidays and has yet to see it...🤔 I think he's feeding an empty cage.

We can't have fans puss because they would get thrown at us.

I hadn't thought of that. 😲 I suspect the "cold water over your head" technique I used to use at work again, on the top floor of somewhere with a flat roof might be your only option.

I was lucky enough to get a fan this time 7 years ago when I was incarcerated on the antenatal ward for a week before having DS, in very similar weather. I also died! #dramatic

Years ago when I was in hospital I had a fan because of a very high temp - but given it was December and there was snow outside I don't think they were very in demand!

DH has just told me there another potential heat wave coming while we're away. Heatwave + campervan = crispy me I think 😱 I really hope it isn't as bad as I'm imagining.

Pics for you puss - no escaping this hamster. She loves me so when I call or talk to her she comes right out. She's also very active, forever moving her bedding and burying food - at one point DH and I both thought we were the only ones feeding her. Eventually realised she was emptying the food bowl by stuffing it all in her cheeks then hiding it in her little house in the bottom cage so when either of us checked, she had no food. No wonder she was so bloody fat! 😂

To keep her cool I've got a damp frozen towel underneath the cage she sleeps in and I put some extra bowls of cold water in so she can wash her face / drink from. Also give her the odd frozen pea / strawberry top / piece of skinless apple. Little bugger, she's absolutely got under my skin.

Aww I'm never kept hamsters but I had many years keeping the guinea-pigs cool .
FTR - guinea-pigs are as thick as mince and will bury themselves in insulating hay ( they need hay as part of their diet 24/7 ,) so I had to be clever and give the loo roll tubes stuffed with hay . I tried a metal wire box ( kitchen storage thing about 12" square ) full of hay...they jumped into it .
They don;t drink water much but will eat as much veg as you can wheelbarrow to them.

My room at work today was furnace-esque . Even with the window open and the XPelair on.

Looking forward to the weekend 🥵 there's not a breath of wind.

In Christmas news I've got the Hairy Bikers Christmas book arriving any day.

70 have you seen the QVC offering? Bit naff, I was expecting a big tree.

It was nearly 32 degrees here today. Makes me wish I had an extra freezer so I could have somewhere to sit for a while.

I'm watching QVC at the moment pussycat there's a telescope on at the moment (I could spy on my neighbours ... bottle of MindBleach on the Christmas List )

The TSV is a bit meh but they will have trees maybe nearer the time .

Last year I got DD a Christmas Sock Advent Calendar (12 pairs , quite nice socks . She still wears some of the less jazzy ones all year )

I did the cinnamon buns from the HB book last year. They're epic!

It feels much cooler this morning...some cloud cover and a decent breeze are helping out massively.
I might actually turn back into a functioning human today.😂😂

God. It was the lack of breeze yesterday which made it stifling!

I'm still horizontal. I shall see what it's actually like once I bother to move to vertical. 😂😂

I've got the conservatory doors at the back and the windows in the living room at the front open and it's like a chilly wind tunnel. It's marvelous. 😎
DH is upstairs wrapped in a 10.5tog duvet as he got a bit cold in the night. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Morning :) supposed to be a bit cooler here today (27 rather than 30 degrees) and then thunderstorms and 21 degrees tomorrow, can't wait! Now it is the summer holidays I am getting in a Christmassy mood. Will finish my current cross stitch and then start on the Christmas ones I have planned.

Well, I got up and upstairs is still sticky and grim (which will improve once the kids are up and I can get their doors open) and downstairs is still warm. Outside is definitely fresher though. Now all the doors and windows are open it should filter through. Hopefully!

I need to do the back stitch on the current cross stitch, do a baby cross stitch (the same one I did for a friend last year; I'm waiting on the threads from my DMC dealer on eBay!), then do the one of my kids which will be my parents' present. I'm dreading that one slightly! Confetti-a go go! Then I'll do actual Christmas ones.

We got up just after 6 in the end and I've wrapped DS' birthday presents (7 tomorrow!). So that's a job done. Cake baking later on. Thank god a) it's the crumb layer today so it goes in the fridge overnight and b) it's cooler tomorrow!

Dds last day at primary school today! They've had a class play which we've been to watch, after school yesterday was pool party (including soaking the teachers) and dominos and this morning is the leavers assembly. I've finished work for the summer too!
