Have you sorted out whatever the row was about most?

I am also hot and a bit grumpy today. I woke up at 3:30am absolutely furious but not sure why, then realised the fan was hitting DHs back and not touching me at all. Had serious thoughts about pushing him off the bed / pinching him and making him move but ultimately went and got another fan and set it up on my side.
Also tried the freezing hot water bottles and having them in bed. The long one my mum bought me for Christmas was amazing, we both rested our feet on it.

It's DHs last day of term today so he will be in a great mood later. I'm planning to finish at 4, have a cold shower then have a relaxed evening with him - I've taken steaks out of the freezer, to be barbecued for tea 😋

BiddyPop · 20/07/2021 10:50

Morning all,
Work has been absolutely mentally exhausting this year so I have not had my Christmas hat on at all yet. No shopping, or lists, or crafting, or anything yet!
But I've taken 6 weeks off over the summer so attempting to slow down a bit, including crafting etc. And catching up with you guys too!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 20/07/2021 10:57

Couldn't even identify what we were arguing about! After 10 mins we realised we were being ridiculous Grin

Hi Biddy :)

CrazyBaubles · 20/07/2021 11:36

Always makes me laugh when that happens most 😂 At least it's wasn't a prolonged argument, just a bit of shared grumpiness.

Welcome back biddy. 6 weeks off? Do you have much planned (travel / hols etc) or just going to relax at home?

I'm on a holiday countdown (13 days) as I can't wait. Just keeping fingers crossed nothing happens to cancel it 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

BiddyPop · 20/07/2021 13:56

I had a week with my family (non-stop hectic ness), and have 2 days at home before what was 3 days but is now 8 days for me with DMIL (she's temporarily in a wheelchair and DBIL is away next week). But DD has withdrawn from a big sailing event (also injured, not serious) so the next 2 weeks are less hectic than I feared. Just emptying out and replacing the shed and filling a skip, sorting house things, and making inroads into my fabric stash by making some projects in my head for years. (just...🤣)

TheWoollybacksWife · 20/07/2021 20:22

Nice to see you back Biddy. Enjoy your six weeks off.

I've had a lovely day. My car needed an MOT and I had it done at the dealership (service plan). DH came with me as he had an Apple appointment so I had a lovely mooch round John Lewis where I bought more sock wool 😂 and nearly fainted at the cost of buttons (£1.50 each - I didn't buy them). Then we went out for lunch and walked back through the park and along the river to pick up my car.

Now I'm knitting, watching the T20 and hoping that the thunderstorm starts again.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/07/2021 21:12

Ooh hello again Biddy

Xmas Envy at the 6 weeks , I have a week in August (visiting family)

QVC Christmas in July is this Friday , I've looked online at this years previews , hope the live airings will be better .

I'm going to start a list of all the things I want to do , or buy or cook over the festive period , mainly to remind myself . Christmas Loo Roll for the whole of December is going on there Xmas Grin

And I've booked a few random days in Nov/Dec to relax and do shopping . (I carried over A/L last year so have some spare days which is nice )

I might even drag DH out for a shopping day , we used to book the last Friday in November , but he's such a lightweight shopping !

lachy · 20/07/2021 21:49

Hi @BiddyPop. welcome back!

@70isaLimitNotaTarget have you any plans for "THE THING" yet this year? I saw the most beautiful table setting somewhere but cannot for the life of me remember where. It was eucalyptus and very natural, in theme but so very pretty!

Thunder is rumbling in the distance, probably won't rain though.

lachy · 20/07/2021 21:53

it was similar to this...

TheWoollybacksWife · 20/07/2021 21:54

Ooh that's pretty lachy

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/07/2021 22:04

Ha , no - not got onto The Thing yet lachy but when I see it , I'll know
Xmas Grin

BiddyPop · 20/07/2021 22:09

Well, it's 60% unpaid and I've already done over a week (and had to deal with work queries last week and a meeting today...) but I've packed a bag of fabric to occupy me down at DMIL's house (I'll borrow her machine).

Morning!

I really haven't had enough sleep. 💤 🥵 I purposely turned my alarm off so I could get more sleep (I'll water the allotment tomorrow), but still woke at 6. After not going sleep until after midnight. Sigh.

Time to get up now really. I want to start work early as I've not had a lunch break the last two days as I seem to be rather busy! I have holiday in 4 weeks, so need to get on top of stuff before then!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 21/07/2021 07:31

I woke at 5 and went for a walk before it got hot.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 21/07/2021 08:14

I went to Asda for 7 to get bread (the salad shelves were a bit bare)...we've had blanket of misty fog over us this morning, but it's starting to burn off now.
Really humid too, so I'm 🥵 with very burny feet already.

Biddy nice to see you back. I hope you get to recharge your batteries during your break from work.

CrazyBaubles · 21/07/2021 08:28

I've had the opposite type of morning to you all. DH got the tower fan down from the attic yesterday so we had a fan each last night. I was asleep by 11 and had obviously switched off my alarm this morning. Thank God the dog got annoyed and woke me at 7:10!

What sort of sewing projects do you have in mind Biddy?
My sewing machine is arriving today Xmas Grin

70 I have an ever growing list of things I want to do / watch / make over Christmas too. Helps me feel organised, especially with a completely different house to decorate this year.
Real trees in pots are priority for me!

lachy that table centre is very pretty. I'd love something similar - we've never really had a table centre before but it will probably need to be fake because the table is in the conservatory and even on a cold day, if the sun is out it gets very hot in there.

We're in DMILs house, and DH went ahead of me with DD and DPup (I had to go into work for a couple of hours). Introduction to DMIL's DDog did not go terribly well - she is tolerating a strange dog some of the time but getting snappy for no apparent reason as well fairly regularly. So DH is very on edge.

I have the material for a set of Christmas PJs (navy flannel covered in candy canes), and cotton for some sea-themed placemats (but I need wadding for heat proofing). But I suspect I will mostly just work on my XSt bookmarks (I still have 3 to do for my DSiblings project....for Christmas 2020 🤣).

Very hot here so I plan to disappear for a while later to the sea, and revisit some childhood haunts in peace.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/07/2021 07:54

Morning!

It's already really warm here. I've been to the allotment to water and got bitten to death! and marvelled at the number of pumpkins we have. It's a forest of pumpkins (plus courgette and squash)! 🎃🎃🎃🎃

I think today is going to be the hottest day so far.

The kids have woken in godawful moods. Thank god DH is taking them to his parents' house later on!

Morning all :)

Love the allotment pics fluffy

Thinking about our local soft play today as it is always freezing in there which sounds perfect today! Probably the morning there and the afternoon in the paddling pool.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 22/07/2021 09:38

Too hot.
I have a bumpy sort of rash all over my chest.
I hate the sun.

CrazyBaubles · 22/07/2021 10:43

Heat rash puss?

most I would go to somewhere with good air con if I could. DH is at the cinema with our nieces this morning - apparently it's actually a little chilly in there which he needed as he's hung over

Lovely pics Fluffy.

biddy when did you get a pup? Is he / she very very cute? I love puppies but they're such a lot of work!

It's meant to be the hottest day here too (30°)! 🥵🥵
I'm clearing my washing basket before the rain comes on the weekend. Also working all day then apparently going to FILs for a BBQ for tea.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 22/07/2021 10:47

It's far too hot for me it must be said, looking forward to it cooling a bit tomorrow especially as I am on a long day and we don't have air con on the ward either.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/07/2021 11:32

We're still 26° tomorrow. And somebody has stolen our previously-forecast weekend rain. I'll have to water early on Sunday at the allotment too. It does pay off, water pressure-wise!

It's 27° in our bedroom where I'm working. Too hot! 🥵🥵🥵

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 22/07/2021 11:33

The heat is just too much isn't it? Right now I'm sat at my desk with a fan on me, another fan on floor keeping the dog and my feet cool and a frozen water bottle against the side of the hamster cage (I'm freezing a damp towel to go under the cage but it's not frozen / cold enough yet.

I've been out and hung washing out too - was sweating like mad when I got back in.

On the plus side, my aloe appears to be growing another flower (DH has been instructed not to touch it), and there were some new flowers in my wildflower planter today 🌸

pussycatlickinglollyices · 22/07/2021 11:49

Crazy I think so, it's pretty much everywhere and a bit like tiny goosebumps - not itchy luckily!
Having caesar salad with chilli chicken for lunch. DH is a bit surprised there will be no chips with it...I'm not putting the oven on.
Biddy we need a pic of DPup...🐶 asleep in the shade will be fine. 😂
why that's awful for you and for the patients. It's 8yrs today that I last visited my dad in hosp (he died that night) he was on the top floor and it was like a furnace. The lovely nurse brought him a fan and it just blew hot air around.
