Here is thread 4 this year. With an appearance from Mr Bon Jovi himself!

Fluffy DH has started growing grass in seed trays so effectively it's squares of turf and then chopping out the bald bits and putting the turf in. It seems to work better than seed and saves the birds scoffing the lot.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/07/2021 15:01

That's a clever idea! I shall do that if this fails!

puss I'm probably maligning him a bit. He doesn't like much veg apart from beans and tomatoes as long as they are cooked in a pasta sauce or a chilli. He'll eat salad and lots of fruit. We are having paella tomorrow and I know he doesn't like it so I've got him a pizza. He'd happily have pizza three times a week but it's me that insists on some variety.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/07/2021 15:36

DS has an over-reliance on sausage / cured meats. He's showing signs of ARFID, which would make sense if he is autistic. Drives us potty, but at least he eats loads of fruit and veg!

DS had a lovely time with his friend. He is now in the shady part of the garden playing and I am lying on the sofa in DH's boxers and t-shirt as they are the coolest things available Grin

I think I win one of the Shit Prizes of the evening (obviously the Shittest Ones are the poor souls involved in the accident and the Emergency Teams dealing with the aftermath )

DD and I decided to mosey along to Lakeside after the shopping delivery .
Junction 29 -30 we were over an hour in pretty stationary/slow moving traffic . Everyone was diverted at J30 (which is where we turn off for Lakeside anyway ) .Motorway closed at 30
It was 29c on my car dashboard , I put the engine off when I realised we were there for the duration, people were getting out and walking about and some using the hard shoulder to skip the queues (even though there were signs up not to Xmas Hmm and loads of blue lighted vehicles trying to pass ) hopefully they'll trigger cameras and get ticketed ( wankers )

Primark had the first sneaky arrivals of A/W clothes ( thick tights and thermal socks indeed ) so it won;t be long till the Christmas stock

lachy · 17/07/2021 21:21

Always makes me smile at this time of year - is super hot, everyone is grumpy because its "too hot" and the shops ate selling jumpers and thermals.

Feels really strange that in 4 months time we'll be fighting over blankets rather than the fans!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/07/2021 21:52

Ha! A few years back ( my DD would;ve been about 7yo ) I was in Sainsbury in the hottest August day .....and saw a gorgeous long , fleece lined hooded coat in grey or plum (I bought plum) which I bought for DD winter coat .
By November you couldn't have got one for love nor money Xmas Shock

Morning. I've left DH in bed and I'm enjoying a cool breeze downstairs. It got too hot for me yesterday 🥵 and the rest of the week is looking decidedly unappealing too.
Listening to some of the neighbours raised voices and frayed tempers was like being in EastEnders. 😲

NoWordForFluffy · 18/07/2021 06:58

Morning!

In a surely taking the piss moment, my body has decided that the hottest week of the year so far is the week I'll have a period. Hurrah!

I'm off to the allotment before it gets too hot to do much. It's nice at present.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 18/07/2021 07:33

Mine started to cramp really badly last night, so I expect it will arrive shortly. 🤦🏻‍♀️

lachy · 18/07/2021 07:51

Morning. It's already hot here. DH goes on to night shift tomorrow for a week. He's not impressed 😕

pussycatlickinglollyices · 18/07/2021 09:55

lachy I don't envy him. He might be better sleeping in your garage, if there's space it's the coolest place in our house, I'm considering moving in 🤔

WreckTangled · 18/07/2021 10:03

Morning! Scorching here already too. Off to pil's later which will be nice. I've somehow managed to avoid a hangover despite the copious amounts of alcohol consumed last night. I guess being sick on the journey home helped Grin

NerosFiddle · 18/07/2021 10:44

Morning.

Got burnt to a crisp on half my legs yesterday. I put au cream on my legs but didn't account for my shorts riding up when I sat. So now my thighs are like beetroot.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 18/07/2021 11:58

Nero I did that once watching cricket. We called in at a pub on the way home and my uncle got me a glass of icecubes to take the sting out/cool them down - it didn't work they were still glowing 2 days later. 🥵
Wreck classy. 😂 Was it medicinal, instead of too many painkillers for your ankle?😉

WreckTangled · 18/07/2021 12:10

Of course Grin £30 for each bottle of brut though and I definitely drank two of the six we had (we didn't pay for all of them). I was drinking water for the last two hours though, I get terribly car sick Grin

pussycatlickinglollyices · 18/07/2021 12:15

Car sick...do you? oooohhh kaaaay. 😂😂😉

NoWordForFluffy · 18/07/2021 12:28

Oh yeah, I've suffered that kind of car sick before! 🤔🤔🤔 (I do genuinely get car sick, especially in the back!)

DH just reminded me that I haven't had breakfast yet. Slight fail! 😂

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 18/07/2021 12:38

I've always suffered with car sickness, usually I have to have the air con full blast in my face and close my eyes but nothing was going to stop it this time Grin it was half an hour in the car which is a long time when you're drunk you get car sickness. My dad was just like 'yeah, I get car sickness too, you get that from me I'm afraid' Grin he was probably just pleased I managed to ask him to pull over in time!

NoWordForFluffy · 18/07/2021 12:44

Why can tell many tales of my travel sickness causing problems! 🙈😂

CrazyBaubles · 18/07/2021 13:02

Wreck amazing that you've avoided the hangover I'm so jealous I had too much wine on Friday and didn't fully recover until yesterday afternoon (when I fell asleep mid rugby match) Blush

My dad also has an amazing gift of knowing when to pull over before anyone is 'car sick' - he's well practised after being the parent taxi of choice for me, my sister and our friends 😂

Fluffy sending you all the sympathy after my mega on/off period. Body's suck.

It is boiling again here. Yesterday my sister and the kids came here - niece was quite happy under the parasol, watering plants and eating ice cream. Youngest nephew couldn't handle the heat at all - he wandered off and we found him in the living room (coolest room), he'd moved the fan on to him and was sat on the dogs cooling mat 😂

No plans at all today aside from cross stitching in front of the fan and drinking lemonade 🥵

lachy · 18/07/2021 20:43

Last summer when it was really really REALLY hot I basically lost it and sat on the stairs sobbing because I was "too hot"

I stomped out of the house, went to The Range and bought an air conditioning unit. DH did pull faces and muttered quite a bit, but guess who is laying on the sofa totally chilling their beans?

DH 😆

Apparently it was "A Very Good Idea"

Of course it was. It was my idea

CrazyBaubles · 18/07/2021 22:23

Lachy I will happily trade you - I'll send my DH to your house and you come here with your air con unit. I am melting .

The heat did give me the worlds worst nosebleed earlier. Lasted an hour and I thought was going to pass out. DH came up after a while and told me I was white but it seemed to prompt him to bring me drinks regularly, organise tea and make sure there is a fan on me at all times 😂

Oh, one more development- I finally bit the bullet and bought a sewing machine. I went for a JL one - this one... should be here within 5 days ready for me ignore it because I'm scared learn how to use it Grin

Morning!

🥵 🥵 🥵 already. Grim!

I was woken at midnight by people having very loud sex, seemingly outside, by the sound of it / the proximity! Thankfully it was either quick, or I just woke up for the final crescendo, as it were! 🙈🤣

I have made an afternoon tea in a bag for DS' teacher / TAs and had to get up early to bake the scones (made the dough yesterday and the ready-to-bake scones could just be flung in the oven, which was left on timer so was already hot when I got up).

They have rosé lemonade, a bottle of Brut (sorry if that's triggering, Wreck!), lemon drizzle cake, scones, homemade strawberry jam and lemon curd and clotted cream. DH put money into a collection for DD's teacher.
