We stayed up watching Sherlock and now I'm wide awake. I'm unimpressed! 😂

At least we finally made it to thread 2...I doubt we will do as many this year!

Is crazy ok? I just had my second dose hope I don't feel awful tonight

NoWordForFluffy · 13/03/2021 13:44

We were asked if we wanted to opt into paperless billing, so said yes. The allotment bill is paper though. That arrived on pay day last March, I think!

NoWordForFluffy · 13/03/2021 13:45

It was 13 March last year, so I bet it comes on Monday!

Hi folks I am off till Tuesday now. I dreamt last night that I set my house up as a Christmas wonderland ready for Easter. Woolly was helping there were many garlands, loads of tinsel and 50 Christmas trees 🌲

TheWoollybacksWife · 13/03/2021 14:57

50 Christmas trees

Will the there be mulled wine and little cheesy biscuits why? If so give me 10 minutes to unpack my Tesco shopping and I'll be down 😂

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 13/03/2021 15:57

Of course there will Woolly. All the Christmas trimmings here.

NoWordForFluffy · 13/03/2021 16:34

I've cleaned the kitchen etc this afternoon. After making brownies and yorkshires. No point doing it before as I'm a messy baker!

I made a pan of vegetable soup yesterday (in the Pressure Cooker that I debated for ages if I was going to buy ) , darned fine it was too Xmas Wink

I have rwo magazines to read in bed while I eat the Mothers Day Breakfast that I'm sure someone will bring me .

Then I've co-erced my OffSpring into making dinner .using naice crockery and the Christmas glasses - which aren't Christmas patterned , I just bought them then.

Our Council Tax bill is just shy of £2,000 , I knew it would go up , they have to claw back the money .

NoWordForFluffy · 13/03/2021 18:07

Our CT will be about £1600 if it goes up 5%. No doubt it will!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 13/03/2021 18:13

Ours is £1750 for our two up two down house. We don't get much for our money round here either.

NoWordForFluffy · 13/03/2021 18:25

£1,620.03 next year. That's a 9% rise. Interesting!

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 13/03/2021 18:29

No, it's 7%. Has anyone else gone up more than 5%?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 13/03/2021 18:32

I thought 5% was the legal maximum? It is here.

NoWordForFluffy · 13/03/2021 18:38

It is for the council bit, it's the police commissioner and such like adding extra we think. It was £1512 last year. So definitely gone up more than 5%! Robbing bastards.

Belated happy birthday puss

Where were you arguing with people yesterday Fluffy?

Was thinking about the sexual harassment stuff that's being highlighted at the mo as DH and I have been talking about it and I'm 🤢 thinking about the amount of examples I could give, and even more annoyed at how much I brushed off because it was just deemed as 'normal / par for the course' then.
I think DHs eyes have been opened to a lot of things though which is probably a good thing.

I'm kind of ok Wreck thank you. By yesterday lunchtime I had a temp & shivers so basically sent myself to bed and although I'm pretty much back to normal, today has been spent taking it easy. Even DH feels a bit off and he's never ill but if he moans about his arm one more time I'm going to offer to cut it off

I love the idea of Christmas for Easter why Xmas Smile

We haven't received our CT Bill for the new house yet. Old house was £1450 ish last year but we got almost nothing in return for that - it was a private road so they did no maintenance or anything, just collected the bins each week. I'm expecting it to be higher here.

WreckTangled · 13/03/2021 21:18

Pleased you're ok crazy!

I think CT needs an overhaul as people with £10m houses only pay around £1000 a year more than I do and I don't really think that's fair (as it's based on house price)

NerosFiddle · 13/03/2021 21:49

We don't have council tax or water charges but we do have rates bills which are similar. Think ours is about £1800. I think it's up 2% on last year.

NoWordForFluffy · 13/03/2021 21:55

I found our 2015/16 bill and it was £1204. So it's a 26% increase since then! Seems a bit steep.

OP posts:
MarshmallowManiac · 13/03/2021 23:24

We got our letter this week and ours has gone up 5% to £2020

MarshmallowManiac · 13/03/2021 23:41

Happy that you're feeling a little better Crazy

Belated happy birthday Puss

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 14/03/2021 07:14

Thank you for the birthday wishes. DH remembered 😂
Marshmallow that's very high! I'd expect to live in a castle with a moat for that much.
The council tax bit is £1400.
The bit I really object to is Police which has increased 7% to £225 😤Fire Brigade much more reasonably priced and more essential at £80.

Once I get the actual bill I'll see exactly what's gone on. I just looked at the figures online. We get charged for the city region that we didn't even know we were a part of due to there being no discernible benefit until it was used as a lockdown area description!

I'm meant to be allotmenting today but it's going to rain so I'm not sure it's a good idea!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 14/03/2021 08:36

I've never looked at the breakdown of my council tax bill but I will when I get this one.

I've been up for half an hour - have wrapped up the gifts for my mum for Mother's Day and had a cuppa. DH is still in bed so I'm going to peruse Love Crafts as I've had an email about a 'Mega Sale' then maybe cross stitch a bit before going to see dm.

For now we have blue skies and sun but forecast says it's going to go grey soon.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/03/2021 09:02

I'm trying to avoid the Love Crafts sale. It's hard! 🙈😂

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 14/03/2021 09:07

Ours is:

County council: 2%
Police: 7.5%
District council: 3%
Adult social care: 3%
Parish council: 3.8%

Total 5%
