We stayed up watching Sherlock and now I'm wide awake. I'm unimpressed! 😂

At least we finally made it to thread 2...I doubt we will do as many this year!

Morning all

CrazyBaubles · 09/03/2021 08:15

Ah, pressed post too soon. why it's awful that it took so long - I think the hope here is that it won't take long as it's already on the radar of the team who are helping because of his CP.

Not much planned here for the day. Work and seeing my sister and the kids I think.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/03/2021 08:36

Morning!

Yes, Crazy, quite often it's easier when you're already under somebody. DS was referred for physio as a baby by the paediatrician who was dealing with his CMPI.

This morning was marginally better in the getting out of the house stakes. No tears because of school (only because of fighting!).

Ooh this thread is quiet today !

I have been called for Jury Duty . DH is Xmas Envy he hasn't been called
DS was ca;;ed last year but deferred as he had exams, re-scheduled to his holidays (he was not pleased) but only had to do one day . Either they took pity on him or they thought he "wasn't what they were looking for"

DD is mega Xmas Envy (she's studying Law so thinks she should be invited )

CrazyBaubles · 09/03/2021 21:42

I would love to be on jury duty (not mid-Covid though)!

I'm just home from the bedlam that is my sisters with the kids. Had almost non stop renditions of Heads, shoulders, knees and toes and 10 little monkeys jumping in the bed 🤯

Am attempting some meal planning to get my arse back on a diet tomorrow - have been shamed by a colleague who posted yesterday about a 5st weight loss. It must be eleventy billionth time lucky mustn't it? Blush

NoWordForFluffy · 09/03/2021 22:39

I'd hate jury duty. There's a reason solicitors weren't allowed to do it until recently! I think the other jurors would frustrate me too much.

Crazy, my friend has struggled to diet. She's started another one recently and it's actually going well. She's very motivated this time. Maybe this will be your turn to nail it?

Crazy I follow someone on Instagram called the fitness chef and he has a book out, the recipes look amazing, it's all just lower calorie versions of our favourite meals. He talks a lot of sense and I would definitely buy it if I didn't have to watch my carbs.

Morning!

It always seems to feel like the countdown goes more quickly when you drop through a hundred marker!

Chucking it down here. It's meant to get quite windy later too. No washing will be going out today!

Morning.

DS back at school today. I need to reclaim the corner of my dining room that was his home learning area and do a quick trip to Tesco for a few bits for lunch today and dinner tomorrow. Then it's crochet and tv until it's time to get DS from the station. My nativity is really coming along. I've only got Mary, baby Jesus and a couple of sheep to make - I'm hoping to have it all finished by the weekend.

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 10/03/2021 08:41

Woolly you know we will require photographic evidence not of the shopping of your nativity Grin
Crazy I need to shift some stone(s) so have cut out cake, chocolate and biscuits, except for the 3 chocolate digestives that fell into my mouth on Sunday. 😳 Next step will be to cut out crisps and beer. 😱
I'd hate to do jury duty, and have to say I'd probably find them guilty anyway for wasting my time. If they get to court there has to be some evidence.🤔

WreckTangled · 10/03/2021 09:53

I had to do jury duty. I got called in on the first case but then my name was picked as one to leave then sat around all day only to be told they wouldn't need me. Pointless really.

lachy · 10/03/2021 11:24

Morning all,

Weather is shocking here, windy, rainy and cold. I really want to get my washing out on the line.

I need a bit of oomph today my to do list is mammoth and nothing ever seems to get ticked off

MarshmallowManiac · 10/03/2021 11:44

Good morning everyone. Very blustery here, and really chilly. My DS's first proper day back not including testing I am really happy for him to have some kind of normality at last. Smile

Had jury duty a few years ago 70, was really looking forward to it, and never even got to sit on it. Sad Lots of time sitting around, definitely need to bring books, mags etc to keep from falling asleep.

Trying to cut down too Crazy haven't been too bad, haven't eaten chocolate for 2 months. Sad Promised myself that when I get to target will allow myself a little each week. Also want to start back running as feel it really helps my weight loss. OMG when the kids were little knew all the verses of 'the wheels on the bus' and 'row, row row your boat'. Grin Grin When I'm at school it's that bloody song 'I'm a circle and wanna be a square' that won't let me sleep at night. Grin

CrazyBaubles · 10/03/2021 12:01

Afternoon. Had a rubbish morning - hormonal cramps and IT issues 😡 And it's grey, cold and raining ☔️ outside which I have to walk the dog in.

I don't know what my issue is with dieting - we meal plan etc weekly but as soon as I need my food to incorporate any sort of diet it's like my mind goes blank, and when I don't have a plan I eat toast whatever's easiest.

I'll have a look at the fitness chef thanks Wreck

Woolly I haven't picked up a crochet hook since I finished the cushions I made as Christmas presents!

puss I can't cut anything out altogether because it makes me want it more (like a child)! Instead when I'm dieting properly I build in an allowance for certain treats but often don't fancy them 🙄

marshmallow I normally enjoy their singing but yesterday they were singing the different songs at the same time before joining together to sing Old Macdonald had a farm (or Old Hack-donna as niece calls it 😂)

WreckTangled · 10/03/2021 12:27

I've got such a bad headache! I logged into my laptop at 8:45 then teams meetings 9:30-11:30 then some phone calls which are done via the laptop. It's just not good for anyone. Going to have some lunch and paracetamol.

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/03/2021 12:42

Crazy I'm working through my stash of yarn as I have made a NY resolution not to buy any more until I've used what I've got. It has been very satisfying to see the little balls of wool that are too big to chuck but too small to make a decent project with be exactly the right amount for a headdress. My SIL had to send me some purple for one of the kings but I count that as a double de-stash.

I've got a bag of full and half balls of stylecraft that I bought to make a blanket, a (now smaller) bag of oddments that I'm looking to turn into more Christmas stuff once inspiration strikes, 3 and a half balls of baby wool that will probably become a cardigan for one of my great nephews, a ball of pink wool that will become something for a new family baby due later this year and enough sock wool to make about 6 pairs of socks for me and my DDs. Plus some random wool that my sister sent me when she was having a clear out. I used some of one lot of this to make a twiddle muff and once I've finished my nativity I'll make another and send them to my sister for the care home she works in.

Dieting has been hard for me all my adult life. 6 years on pred started my weight gain in my late teens and early twenties. I had some success with WW after DD2 but PCOS and now the menopause meant that losses have been slow.

MarshmallowManiac · 10/03/2021 14:06

Can't wait to get back to Slimming World and hopefully start to lose some not zoom Grin

Hope your headache goes soon wreck felt the same after I spent 4 hours doing eye bleeding Psychological First Aid.

CrazyBaubles · 10/03/2021 15:41

My colleague does a mix of SW and calorie counting so I may try that (I think she does 2 weeks SW, 1 week low cal / 5:2). I don't know, I just need to stop bloody eating do something.
Similar issues here Woolly - I have PCOS and endo.

I am Blush about my yarn stash. When we moved I decided to house it together properly - I had to buy a laundry basket and it's completely full - actually over full as it doesn't close properly! I need to get cracking on some stash busters I think!

We're having massive IT issues today so I keep getting logged out. If it isn't fixed soon I'm going to call it a day.

WreckTangled · 10/03/2021 17:14

I can't stand slimming world (sorry marshmallow!). If you have PCOS you likely have insulin resistance which can make it harder to lose weight, which is shit as it's hard enough anyway Thanks

I've had such a busy day with meetings and calls, then I did a 60 minute full body workout, got dd from after school club and have just done the census. Need to start dinner now. And the applications are open for the course I want to do (or at least the first internal application) so I need to sort that too.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/03/2021 17:17

Would the Blood Sugar Diet help people with PCOS, do you think, Wreck? (Michael Mosley.)

I've only ever done calorie counting for losing weight. I get to eat whatever I want within my calorie allowance then. Better than deprivation which doesn't work.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 10/03/2021 17:36

Absolutely but I'm not sure how sustainable it is, although from what I understand it's an 8 week programme and then eases off a bit. I'm a big fan of calorie counting. Eat whatever you like as long as it fits into your calories and no reason why you can't look at them over a week rather than a day, no need to deprive yourself and less likely to binge. Anyway I talk the talk but can't walk the walk Wink it's all easier said than done.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/03/2021 17:36

I'd hate to do jury duty, and have to say I'd probably find them guilty anyway for wasting my time. If they get to court there has to be some evidence

I don't think that's quiiiite how the Justice System works there Puss Xmas Grin .
I'll have to take my books/mags , I have a copy of The Wasp Factory that is waiting to be read (or Good Housekeeping if it isn't frowned upon)

CrazyBaubles · 10/03/2021 17:50

I have a book about pcos and it pushes low sugar and low carb but I've never managed to follow it successfully.
I've done 6 weeks of the 8 week blood sugar thing but it was hard and I had a lot of migraines during it so gave up.
I think SW is ok as long as you're careful as it pushes carbs (pasta and potatoes are 'free' so you can eat as much as you like for example). I like it purely because somethings are free and you can snack away on them because I'm crap at remembering to include everything.

Wreck I can convincingly talk the healthy eating talk but have never managed to do the walk 😂

I'm holding off on completing the census at the mo - I think there's some court thing happening around the guidance for answering the sex and gender questions and I want to know the outcome before I do anything.

I have my jab tomorrow and I'm quite nervous about it. I've only told my boss and that was to make sure she knows the reasons if I end up feeling rough.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/03/2021 18:15

Crazy, it's sex: female, gender: decline to answer (or however it's worded), assuming you're wanting the gender critical version, that is?

And nationality is European!

Pasta and potatoes being free is utter insanity. Too much pasta = weight gain!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 10/03/2021 18:36

Yes there was sex: m or f and then a question about whether or not you identify as the same gender as your sex or something. We're ell European too Grin
