We stayed up watching Sherlock and now I'm wide awake. I'm unimpressed! 😂

At least we finally made it to thread 2...I doubt we will do as many this year!

Well it looks like six weeks on from the referral date dd will have had her initial assessment, moulds and fitting of braces. I'm really impressed with how fast it's all happening. Two more appointments this month and she will have the first set.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/03/2021 17:44

That's fantastic, Wreck. Even if it means a few more trips going round in circles!

Cauli, I was just on Argos chat for something and one of the automated messages was that they had no PS5 stock info!

WreckTangled · 02/03/2021 18:00

Yes and my second Covid vaccine has been brought forward by 2 weeks

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/03/2021 21:19

Fantastic news Wreck

The garden centre by me stocks World of Roses plants but I don't know if they'll be open again in time to buy your rose in person Cauli

I'm no further forward on pudding Puss. Out for various reasons are anything raspberry or lemon flavoured, all cheesecakes, trifle, bread and butter pudding, anything with obvious whipped cream and any chocolate dessert featuring palm oil. I'm tempted to give everyone an apple and be done with it.

I made a chocolate roulade with Aldi chocolate for Christmas and that went down well with 4 out of the 5 of us - DS doesn't have much of a sweet tooth unless it's profiteroles or actual sweets. If I'm feeling generous I might make/buy everyone their favourite dessert and make it look like I'm doing a taster plate rather than just pandering to all our whims 😂

It's cold. I don't want to get out of bed! I will soon though! 😂

Woolly, I couldn't be arsed with your pudding issue. I think the apple idea works for me!

Morning :)

Great news wreck.

I have spent the last couple of days sorting out thr loft and it is now neat and tidy and the Christmas decorations are back in it after weeks on the landing. Only 8 months or so until I get them back out Grin

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 03/03/2021 07:20

Morning.
It is chilly outside. I can confirm that.
Forgot to say - plumber fixed the leak, it was a washer that had perished.
Woolly Why don't you do what you would like to have, and leave them to fight over an apple. 😉

NoWordForFluffy · 03/03/2021 08:34

We just opened the front door. Definitely chilly! 🥶🥶🥶

I'm glad Wimon fixed your leak and it wasn't too serious, Pussy. Must be a relief!

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 03/03/2021 08:50

It's just nice to put the towels back in the airing cupboard. I've had to shoo the cats off them more than once. 😹
I think it was Wayne. Difficult to tell under the mask.🤔

CrazyBaubles · 03/03/2021 09:33

Morning!
Definitely cold - we had frost overnight here and I'm sat on the sofa with my fleece dressing gown on my lap like a blanket and ddog is on my legs like a hot water bottle 🥶

Glad the leak was fixed Puss!

I am putting in half my holiday requests for the year today - am going to include a day at the start of December which will be my Christmas focused day. Aim for that day will be to put up decs and do a final check that cards are written, gifts are bought and everything is under control and will be done while I'm playing Christmas music or watching chrismas films while DH is at work Xmas Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 03/03/2021 10:25

I was going to say that you are very organised on the Christmas front Crazy but then I remembered

  1. This is the countdown to Christmas thread
  2. I'm currently crocheting a nativity 😂
  3. I've already bought yarn to make matching Christmas socks for me and my DDs.

That sounds like a really good plan to get it all done to your liking in one day.

MarshmallowManiac · 03/03/2021 12:53

Afternoon everyone. Bit cloudy here but staying dry at least. Had a nice relaxing doggie walk.

Great news on the vaccination Wreck

Good idea Crazy like to get everything done in a short time. Make sure you have your list on everything you need to do in that time.

Glad to hear the leak was sorted Puss

Hope you get a dessert that suits everyone Woolly bloody hard though the thing is a lot of shop bought desserts have palm oil. Make your own I say.

CrazyBaubles · 03/03/2021 13:24

Woolly my Christmas craft list is never ending (I want to make myself and my mum a crochet tree, some crochet baubles, a tree skirt, cross stitches, slippers, blanket, cushion). I'll never make it all even if I get another 50 christmases!

Who are you making the nativity for? I gave up on mind - I couldn't make it as small or neat as I wanted or make them stand up.

Marshmallow I start looking at presents and prepping in August (ish). Aim is to have everything bought / planned by end of November - my day in December is supposed to be a decorating and auditing day to make sure I don't have to be running around doing last minute stuff and being stressed through December.
Between that day and my wrapping evening (when DH has his Christmas party usually), I get everything done and get to enjoy the season.

Work is a bit crazy today. Roll on 4:30!

TheWoollybacksWife · 03/03/2021 13:35

This is the nativity Crazy and there is a separate pattern for the wise men. I've made it before as a surprise for Fluffy but this one is going to my sister for her grandchildren. The weighted pellets in the flat bases help the figures stand up. I'm using DK and a 3mm hook which seems to get the stitches nice and small.

TheWoollybacksWife · 03/03/2021 13:39

My New Years resolution was to not buy any wool until I'd used up as much of my stash as possible. I spent my Hobbycraft voucher before the end of the year so I wasn't tempted to cheat. The nativity is a bit of a stash buster and I'm also googling scrap projects to use up some more.

MarshmallowManiac · 03/03/2021 14:11

Me too Crazy bought a lot of stocking fillers in the Summer, hate running around in December too. Like to be enjoying this time with Christmassy stuff. This year I want to wrap as I buy as that seemed to slow me down a lot. Think I will borrow your idea and have a wrapping evening. Hope you get a chance to relax a little after work.

WreckTangled · 03/03/2021 20:09

My parents have their vaccines booked now. They're in the 50-59 age group so that's good news.

Ds still isn't asleep and I need to finish the online food shop. So uninspired.

NoWordForFluffy · 03/03/2021 21:13

That's good. I think I'll be getting mine by the end of the month. I'd think having to do a load of second jabs will start slowing first jabs down soon though.

OP posts:
MarshmallowManiac · 03/03/2021 21:56

My MIL had her second jab yesterday. Smile

Morning!

It's cold and gloomy still here. We had to increase the central heating yesterday as it was 16° in the front room! 🥶🤣

Almost the weekend. Woooo! I'm seeing the physio at the weekend as I 'm falling apart ache a fair bit. The guy is a genius and you walk out feeling 2 inches taller!

😆😆😆

This is why I love this thread!

CrazyBaubles · 04/03/2021 08:31

Morning!

Thank you for the pattern woolly. I don't know why I never thought about putting something weighted in the bottom (I've done it before by putting pennies in the trunk of a mini crochet Christmas tree).

Fluffy I'm jealous of your physio app. I almost fell over walking the dog yesterday - I twisted awkwardly to stop myself and I've twinged something in my back so I'm sat very awkwardly with the long hot water bottle wrapped around me.

I love the thread for the same reasons lachy Xmas Grin

DH is actually in school today - they are now 3 teachers down in the school so he's going in to cover. It means I get the house to myself (which I love). I may even put something Christmassy on to watch today....

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 04/03/2021 09:41

Fluffy do you need to be any taller?🤔😉
I'm only jealous because I struggle to reach the upper shelves in the kitchen cupboards, even on tiptoes. I think one day I'll snap and take a hammer to them, then DH will have to relent into replacing them at a lower height 😹 He won't let me buy a step to use - probably quite wise, as I'd end up falling off.🤕😂
Crazy get your fairy lights up while he's out 😈😉

CrazyBaubles · 04/03/2021 10:18

Puss I may have considered the putting up fairy lights if I hadn't hurt my back - they're all up in the attic and there's no way I can get up there.

Also with you on the height or lack of thing. I'm 5ft 2 and can't teach anything on the top shelves of our kitchen cupboards 🙄

I'm taking a break from work this morning (encouraged by the workplace to get us away from screens) and using it to fill in some gaps on my cross stitch!

TheWoollybacksWife · 04/03/2021 10:42

I'm 5'2" too Crazy and have just had to stand on a chair to get a fresh pint of milk out of the top of the fridge. Good for you having some downtime to yourself.

I'm drinking my tea and mentally writing a to do list. I need to do some laundry, clean the bathrooms, empty the dishwasher and do something (probably a dauphinois for the freezer) with the rest of the potatoes from last week's veg box as the new lot came this morning and there's no room to store them.

I think I have reached a decision about Easter pudding. There is a place reasonably close by that has nice foodie stuff including individual desserts. I plan to pop over there just before Easter and get a selection.
