Before I nod off in a food / booze coma, here is our new thread!

We've had a lovely, chilled, day building Lego. I should probably eat more cheese to really finish the day in style though. 🧀🧀🧀

I can't get raspberries. There were plenty of bananas in the co-op at the garage today though.

That's good news woolly, one of my grandads has his this weekend (he's 90) but my other grandparents aren't even 80 yet so haven't heard, will probably be a good couple of weeks. I'm speaking to a lot of elderly people at work who haven't heard when theirs is and, understandably, they're concerned especially with the news going on about how places are now on group 4 Hmm

CrazyBaubles · 20/01/2021 20:23

Just dropping in quickly to say - WE ARE IN THE NEW HOUSE!! It went to the absolute wire yesterday with a few issues but got the keys this morning and all our furniture was here by 5. Now have the joy of unpacking but I don't care - we're in!! 🥳

Hope everyone is ok - I'll try and have a catch up on thread tonight.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 20/01/2021 20:23

M6 shut, loads of A roads and side roads impassable. The road outside the hospital is really only doable in a 4x4. One poor woman on my old commuter route had to be rescued from her car Shock before the dual carriageway was closed.
As if all that rain isn't enough, it's now turning to sleety snow!
And the conservatory doors are leaking.
Send beer.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 20/01/2021 20:25

Crazy Ooh, well done.
Pob lwc yn eich cartref newydd.💐

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 20/01/2021 20:48

Correction.
it's not sleet... it's snowing...⛄

NoWordForFluffy · 20/01/2021 20:56

Yay, Crazy!! Sorry it was stressful, but it'll be worth it. Are you off work until Monday now?

Sounds like Armageddon down your way, Stockings...I'm not surprised though, seeing as it's still chucking it down. 🌧🌧🌧🌧

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 20/01/2021 21:32

Well done on the move Crazy. Looking forward to catching up.

MarshmallowManiac · 20/01/2021 23:32

Congratulations on the move Crazy

Morning!

We are now in the windy part of the storm. Apparently there may be some rain today, but we're heading to dryer weather. Good job as well have a ridiculous amount of washing to do!

I'm assuming we've missed out on snow, but haven't checked! Wigan was as close as it snowed, potentially. It can stay there!

WreckTangled · 21/01/2021 07:19

Great news crazy!

I had a bad night last night, I suddenly got a bad headache when I went to bed but thought I'd sleep it off, then I woke at 2am with it still really bad so had to take something for it and was awake for a bit then. So tired now. Last day of work for the week.

BiddyPop · 21/01/2021 09:39

Congratulations Crazy on the move. And belated congrats to lachy too, I missed your recent move. May you both be very happy in your new spots.

All a bit mad here, howling wind, crazy deadlines, narky teen, ….stay safe all.

MarshmallowManiac · 21/01/2021 12:20

Afternoon everyone. Quite sunny today but still really windy.

Belated moving in wishes lachy

I feel your pain with the narky teen and howling wind Biddy Grin

Drying everything on the radiators here Fluffy but hopefully better sunnier and hotter weather is on the way.

Sorry to hear you had a bad night Wreck mine was the previous night so last night took something as had to sleep.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/01/2021 13:05

The poor washing won't know what's hit it. It's really windy with intermittent rain and sunshine. It's like still being in the washer! 😂😂 It's meant to be OK from now-ish though, so hopefully it'll be dry enough to come in to air later.

I don't like drying washing from wet indoors; I prefer at least partially-dry from outside if possible.

MarshmallowManiac · 21/01/2021 14:23

I prefer washing dried from outside too but unfortunately not possible here atm, ot is lashing rain here now.

MarshmallowManiac · 21/01/2021 14:24

*it

NoWordForFluffy · 21/01/2021 14:30

That's why we've ended up with so much washing waiting to be done! It got too much and today it had to go on whatever! I think it'll do OK, however, due to the wind.

MarshmallowManiac · 21/01/2021 15:45

Just started the sausage pasta for tonight, the DC love it as it makes the sauce taste meaty. Smile

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 21/01/2021 16:14

Afternoon,
Most of the snow has now gone, there's a bit which has turned to ice on the lawn and the shed roof. One of the neighbours has made a massive snowman (complete with carrot nose) at least 3 foot tall (and round)⛄
Looking at the local news, I think we got away with it quite lightly compared to the rest of the County.
Wreck hope you're feeling better now.
Biddy I love your narky teen comment 😂

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/01/2021 20:41

Good luck in your new houses Crazy and lachy

A good day here today with two loads of laundry done. There's still more than I'm comfortable with left to do but it's impossible to dry outdoors so I'm juggling the hot airer and the tumble dryer. I've made bread and pancakes to go in the freezer to use up an excess of milk so I'm feeling quite domesticated overall.

MiL has had her jab and feels good. She was at one of the mass vaccination hubs and said it went like clockwork and everyone was so kind and cheerful. We've also had (online) parents evening for DS. It was brilliant - automatic 5 minute slots so you could possibly get cut off mid sentence if you were still talking (only happened once when his Physics teacher was trying to put his case for GCSE). All in the comfort of our dining room and done and dusted in 75 minutes - no hanging around waiting round while people are going on and on. I wouldn't be upset if this was used in "normal" times.

lachy · 22/01/2021 07:38

Congratulations @CrazyBaubles! Hope you celebrated with a moving in feast!

We're still settling in, lots to unpack.

Work has been absolutely bonkers and I've got a huge deadline to hit today. Once that's done I can start to get organised

Hope you're enjoying the weather (ha ha) 😳 its horrible here.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/01/2021 07:51

Morning!

It's cold, dry and windy here. We've done 3 loads of washing in the last couple of days and reached the bottom of the basket! The washing did get wet yesterday as the forecast kept changing from dry to wet until after dinner. It's mostly dry now, so DH can get that bit in soon,

My eye is not good. My medicated eye drops had better arrive today or I'll have to go and get some. I'm pretty sure now that I've undiagnosed blepharitis which leads to styes, having read the description (such as gritty sleepy dust etc). If I'm not around much it's because I'm avoiding screens outside of work. I've not read my emails in two days! Liberating.

WreckTangled · 22/01/2021 07:53

That doesn't sound very nice fluffy.

Day off today so home schooling. Yuck. Am also going to attempt a low carb banana cake. We have mountains of washing but I've just put one load on and realised we're almost out of washing powder. Sigh.

It's very frosty here this morning. My working hours are changing from Monday so I won't have to leave home until 11 which will give me a chance to keep on top of everything.

CrazyBaubles · 22/01/2021 09:14

Morning.
Thank you all for the congratulations on the new house. I'm so pleased - we walked to the river yesterday (DH timed it - 4 minutes from the front door 🙄).
We've been so busy - we've fully unpacked the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and conservatory / dining room. We need to do 2 more car loads from the old house (if I had a bigger car we could do it in one but not in a mini) and have approx 10 boxes to unpack.
Need to buy some furniture too as we have no bedroom drawers and a big gap in the living room which we weren't expecting.

I'm doing a few hours work today too - the sellers left their router and have arranged for their internet to cancel on 28th and ours should start Monday so we haven't had to do without.

DDog is slowly getting used to the house too although he hasn't quite figured out the glass patio doors yet

Everything froze here overnight so it is 🥶 outside.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 22/01/2021 09:22

Your poor eye fluffy hopefully the drops arrive and work
I've had blepharitis before and it normally goes quite quickly for me, within a day or two. It's more uncomfortable than painful.
Good luck with the home schooling Wreck Gin
Woolly I'm contemplating buying some double ended needles to knit some leg warmers child of the 80s Grin are they easy once you get used to them? Do I need some of the clip on type row markers to mark the end of one row before starting the next iyswim? and how on earth do you stop the stitched falling off the end of the needle?🤔
Frosty here, still a bit of snow on the lawn and shed roof. Forecast is for more over the weekend. I've got a few snowdrops and a couple of tiny daffs open.Daffodil

Crazy when Charlie and Tills were kittens, it took a week or two for them to work out what glass doors were when they were chasing each other.
