Before I nod off in a food / booze coma, here is our new thread!

We've had a lovely, chilled, day building Lego. I should probably eat more cheese to really finish the day in style though. 🧀🧀🧀

I saw a giant pheasant in a group (flock?) of them last week - on closer inspection it turned out to be a stray turkey Grin

He didn't like sultanas, meal worms or broken up bits of stale white sliced hovis fussy bugger
🤔😹😹

NoWordForFluffy · 17/01/2021 16:15

A turkey that had dodged the Christmas bullet! Must've staged his own chicken turkey run!

Pheasants only eat stuff you're growing and want to keep, Stockings!

😂😂😂
CrazyBaubles · 17/01/2021 18:57

I like pheasants to look at but they can be a PITA. DHs grandparents have them where they live (rural Devon) and his grandad rages about them - they eat from his veg patch and sit in the road refusing to move for cars etc 😂

I am finally sitting down -well, lying in the bath. It's been a busy day - we've painted some furniture, the bathroom and some cheap photo frames I uncovered while packing, helped my dad clear his stuff out of our shed and packed the last box we can for now. We also had 4 different sets of people come to collect furniture we were getting rid of which is a relief.

Why I'm glad you're on the mend after your jab.

WreckTangled · 18/01/2021 07:14

Eugh. Work today. Should never have offered to be redeployed, I could be sitting at home all day in my leggings instead of driving 20 miles every day to an office where I have no clue what I'm doing 😭

Morning!

I did wonder why you'd asked, Wreck! Can you take it back?! Grin

WreckTangled · 18/01/2021 07:41

I could, my manager said she would pull me back at any time but I know that wouldn't look good at all. I had to ask really, I felt like a fraud sitting at home using key worker school places and calling myself an nhs worker when I had nothing to do. Was hoping to get some more money too but as they've said they're happy for me to keep my hours that won't happen!

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 18/01/2021 08:51

Wreck it will still look good on your CV. Especially if you term it "Voluntary secondment".

fluffy have you seen how much rain is headed our way? 🤿 We might need Biddy with her "International Rescue" rowing boat 😮

NoWordForFluffy · 18/01/2021 09:23

Yes, Stockings! I wonder if Aldi has a dinghy down the aisle of wonder?!

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 18/01/2021 09:27

It's been a very long time since I last went to Aldi - I do miss the Aisle of stuff you didn't know you needed. 😂
Last time I bought DH some drill bits and a loo roll holder.

TheWoollybacksWife · 18/01/2021 10:32

Aaah the Random Aisle of Shite. Go to Aldi to buy fruit and chocolate and come out with an arc welder and a paddling pool.

Morning all.

MarshmallowManiac · 18/01/2021 11:52

Morning everyone. Fairly warm ish and dry here. Loving your pheasant/turkey pics. Grin Think rain is winging its way down to us though for Tues/Weds/Thurs. Sad

Hope work improves Wreck Flowers

lachy · 18/01/2021 20:30

Evening all. How are you all? It's blinking chilly here and I've heard a rumour of snow.

It might be nice and festive on Rudolph Day

TheWoollybacksWife · 18/01/2021 22:33

I'm not very optimistic about snow here lachy - we seem to be in some sort of snow repelling bubble. Although there is talk about a new beast from the east...

NoWordForFluffy · 18/01/2021 23:27

We don't get snow either, Woolly! Much to the kids' disappointment!

I should've popped out for that dinghy, Stockings. It sounds very wet out there!

Lachy, how's the house doing now?

Biddy, we're going to need your boat! 🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧

Morning. It's chucking it down here, and has been all night. NDN decided to dig up his lawn before Christmas to extend his drive and now has what looks like a small boating lake instead.🤔😂
We get snow, but it doesn't hang around for long enough to make a ⛄
I'm glad we went shopping yesterday. Sainsburys disappointed me - they had no dinghys. 🤿☂

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 19/01/2021 06:50

Cross posted with you fluffy
It's quite heavy here. There aren't any water courses nearby, and the field in front of the house will soak a lot up.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/01/2021 07:14

We have a brook around the allotment site. I've a feeling it may breach its banks today though, unless they keep the local pumping station turned on (it's hit and miss, but makes a massive difference when it's on; I'm not sure who has the power though!).

All the fields will be sodden. Plus a brownfield development site at the other end of town already looked like a nature reserve lake. Can't see that improving!

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 19/01/2021 08:45

They're building some quite expensive "executive" 🤔 homes on a bit of flood plain in the neighbouring small town. Not sure I'd want one...🤿
The big brownfield site in town that is being built on looked like an aqua park yesterday. I won't be driving near it as the roads are now quite clayey.

NerosFiddle · 19/01/2021 11:41

Morning (just about).

It's torrential here today. Ds said he didn't have to get changed yet because it was still dark out. We compromised and he is now in a full Liverpool kit as is Dd.

We're due to get snow at the weekend but I hope this is wrong. I live on a hill so it's a nightmare to try and get out.

MarshmallowManiac · 19/01/2021 15:06

Afternoon everyone. Quite blustery here, trees are blowing away madly. We have a few areas round here that are prone to flooding, but as we are quite high up luckily we seem to escape this. Only thing is when it snows it is hard to get out and quite treacherous unfortunately. Sad

Think we are going to need your boat too Biddy as we are forecast for rain all week!

BiddyPop · 19/01/2021 16:15

I can cheer you up a little - the band of rain that passed over (yes very heavy but passed over in about 3 hours) is followed by a good dry spell here. So hopefully it will keep moving east and pass over the UK as well.

But yes, I'm happy to get the boat out for rescue duty.

Hope you're all staying safe.

WreckTangled · 19/01/2021 16:40

Our weather warning doesn't come into force until tomorrow...
