Before I nod off in a food / booze coma, here is our new thread!

We've had a lovely, chilled, day building Lego. I should probably eat more cheese to really finish the day in style though. 🧀🧀🧀

why hope the jab goes ok. afterwards, get yourself a Brew and put your feet up.🥱
It's still bloody freezing a bit chilly outside, I've just fed the birdies with lots of fruity suet, mealworms and sultanas. I'm not sure it's warmer now than it was at 9. 🥶

WreckTangled · 15/01/2021 12:53

It's freezing here too, not that I've been outside.

Ahh pleased you're getting your vaccination.

The dc have finished their school work for the day, need to pop out later to collect our magic bag from greggs, I won't be able to eat any of it but I'm excited to see what we get. It'll be the dc's dinner as there's no food in the house (click and collect for tomorrow) Grin

MarshmallowManiac · 15/01/2021 13:01

Morning everyone. Hope you are all well. Dry here but very cold. Sad Heater on full blast, still seems freezing.

Good luck with the vaccine Why, hope all goes well. Smile

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 15/01/2021 13:19

Marshmallow Our heating has been on full blast for days and it's just not warming up. I normally love winter and spring, but at the mo I'm wishing away the days until March and April.

MarshmallowManiac · 15/01/2021 13:36

Yes ours too Stockings and it usually heats the house, but atm I'm still frozen! Cannot wait to see March & April coming too.

NoWordForFluffy · 15/01/2021 14:08

It's definitely a persistently bloody cold winter. It's normally at least 6-8° with the occasional cold day. Not like this.

Our house heats - and cools - quickly. It's so bloody cold in the morning!

CrazyBaubles · 15/01/2021 14:18

We have a lovely 1 degree C here 🥶 The dog walk definitely blew the cobwebs away!

Work until 4:30, DH is doing the food shop at 3. Steak for tea tonight 😋 before another (should be last) weekend of packing, painting furniture and trying to get rid of stuff!

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 15/01/2021 14:42

Crazy Are you hoping to be in for next weekend?? That's exciting! 🏠

CrazyBaubles · 15/01/2021 16:01

We are 🥳 if all goes to plan although nothing else has through this process we'll be in by Friday and I can't wait. Since things started looking like they were going ahead I've started to really notice all the things about this house that annoy me - like just now when I went downstairs. We have the hearing on - Upstairs is nice and toasty. Downstairs is like walking into a fridge!

How are you cross stitches coming puss? What are you working on?
My new ones came today but I'm not allowed to start one until I've completed half of my Christmas one..

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 15/01/2021 16:05

I have had the jab. There was a constant stream of people waiting and sitting whilst they made sure there was no reaction.

My arm really aches at the moment.

Jenasaurus · 15/01/2021 16:14

Oh, I am having mine today, (NHS Worker), which one did you have, I am having the Oxford one, but my son (also NHS worker) has the Pfizer one as my trust are offerring both.

I am going to be freezing as we are having them in a tent and am wearing a short sleeved top for easy access :(

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 15/01/2021 16:19

We had the Pfizer one. It was cold where we had it because all the windows were open.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 15/01/2021 16:20

I am also NHS Jenasaurus.

WreckTangled · 15/01/2021 16:21

Ours was quite well run, only had to wait 15 mins after having it, luckily the waiting area for before and after was indoors as I heard of other people waiting outside for over an hour. I was in and out in forty minutes I think.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 15/01/2021 16:23

why I hope you got Brew and biscuits jaffa cakes
Crazy hmm, here - upstairs is positively toasty (if not a bit too warm) ...downstairs is like a fridge, and this house was built in 2000 so is relatively well insulated (not quite as good as a newbuild) you might need to adjust your expectations a teeny bit, and invest in an some nice comfy booty=type slippers and an electric blanket 😻

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 15/01/2021 16:28

Wreck we were told to wait for 15 mins after our flu jabs, DH wouldn't 🤦🏻‍♀️ - pity we can't be done in consecutive jabs, as he could go in first and then be made to wait for me!

WreckTangled · 15/01/2021 16:30

Oh really? I don't have the wait after flu vax (or pneumonia) but I've been having it for over 20 years so maybe that's why?! I vaguely remember having to wait after it when I was younger.

Everywhere seems to be getting snow apart from us. I'm not impressed.

CrazyBaubles · 15/01/2021 16:35

No snow here either Wreck
*
Puss* this house is full of random gaps which let the wind in - it's old, there's one tiny radiator for the open kitchen diner and both front and back doors are wooden with gaps, plus it has high ceilings so everything takes ages to warm up.
The plus side is that this house has character, is perfect for Christmas decs and the living room here is amazing if we have hot uncomfortable days in the summer.

Normal temp variations I can handle but when it's freezing I really struggle with the main room of the house being the coldest one.

My dm bought me a foot warmer for Christmas and I've been using that all afternoon - it's working well!

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 15/01/2021 16:36

We've had it for 10+ yrs, but the (Sainsbury) pharmacist asked us to sit for 15 mins to check we didn't have a reaction - neither of us have.
No snow here, so it's not just you, perishing cold though 🥶🥶 supposed to get warmer overnight.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 15/01/2021 16:47

Well done Crazys DMum
Our house has a v big living room window 🥶 and is east facing, so isn't that warm.
The cats are upstairs nearly all the time at the mo - I think they search out the CH pipes under the floor boards.😹

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 15/01/2021 16:59

Stockings no jaffa cakes or cake generally which is kind of sad. Especially whilst waiting.

MarshmallowManiac · 15/01/2021 17:08

We have had a sprinkling of snow here, but don't think it is going to settle as the ground is still wet.

Hope your arm feels better soon Why

Hope all goes well for next weekend Crazy , our downstairs is like a fridge too. Sad

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 15/01/2021 17:16

why that is very disappointing Cake
If it stays as cold as this, I think we might have an early night with the electric blanky on and watching TV in bed.

WreckTangled · 15/01/2021 17:18

Why we had Maltese reindeer for afterwards and free bottles of water handed out when we entered. I also saw packs of biscuits.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/01/2021 18:16

I didn't get biscuits either , I thought you only got those when you donate blood ? (My DS donates I'm sure it's because they give him crisps and squash rather than a desire to be a decent person and help others through the selfless donation of his vital fluids )

I was this close > < to buying some chairpads from Sainsbury ( Robin pattern) they were £10 prior to Christmas now £6ish .
