Before I nod off in a food / booze coma, here is our new thread!

We've had a lovely, chilled, day building Lego. I should probably eat more cheese to really finish the day in style though. 🧀🧀🧀

Do you check Stock Informer?

I can't believe they're so hard to come by. Wonder if it's Brexit / ports chaos and / or lockdown-related?

ShandlersWig · 09/01/2021 12:07

Fluffy thanks for the syock informer link, looks like Very last had them on the 8th so must be due a delivery once it works though the Brexit red tape/pandemic shortages!

MarshmallowManiac · 09/01/2021 14:05

Afternoon everyone. Not too cold today, but we had a sprinkling of snow last night. DH went to Lidl this morning and said fruit & veg seemed quite full, hopefully it can stay that way. Trying to cut down at the moment and going to do a workout from Youtube. Determined to shift this Christmas/Lockdown weight.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/01/2021 18:56

Well, a vaguely productive day here: I cleaned the kitchen / utility / random downstairs woodwork and doors then I walked into town to get a few food bits plus bird food. So many people wandering about the streets getting in the bloody way. I walk into town quite often and I've never seen that many people roaming the streets. Maybe they think leaving the house for exercise is compulsory though at the snails' pace most were walking at, it couldn't be deemed exercise!

WreckTangled · 09/01/2021 19:05

Fluffy it's so busy everywhere isn't it? Just a nightmare. We haven't left the house today but will probably go for a walk tomorrow.

I've hoovered and dusted the whole house including bedrooms and cleaned the kitchen plus done some washing. Pretty busy, the house was a tip.

Didn't get any exercise done. I'm feeling tired today. DH has annoyed me too. Ever since he got back from work he keeps asking me what's wrong and why and I in a bad mood, but I'm not! Or I wasn't until he went on so much it made me cross!

NoWordForFluffy · 09/01/2021 19:25

The shops didn't seem too busy, I don't think, but the roads and paths in housing areas were. Where is everybody going if they aren't in the shops?!

Then there was a bloke without a mask in Poundland who was roaming round, not paying attention to where he was going and therefore utterly failing at SD. If you're not wearing a mask, at least pay attention to your bloody surroundings!

I rarely vacuum, Wreck, that's DH's job. I use the cordless Dyson for top up cleaning, and steam mopping is my job, but the heavy vacuum is his job! Sadly he doesn't seem to understand dusting. Confused

Our washing is still out. The breeze has picked up, so we will leave it out a bit longer.

I got us some Christmas paper plates in Wilko for 30p. Bargain!

Lachy, how's your cleaning gone today? I bet you're knackered.

WreckTangled · 09/01/2021 19:30

We only have a cordless shark. I love it, we don't need anything else. My dh doesn't know what dusting is either.

I suppose people feel they have to get out of the house each day, I wonder if take away coffee shops being open contributes to it? If we could walk to one I probably would.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/01/2021 19:47

I got the vacuum cleaner in 2009 and it's heavy, noisy and cumbersome, but really good at cleaning! We then got the Dyson once we had both kids due to the huge increase in crumbs. Hmm You can really tell the difference between the Dyson 'clean' and the Vax clean.

I had to cut a load of hair and embroidery thread off the Dyson brush today. It was hideous! 😳😂

MarshmallowManiac · 09/01/2021 19:50

My friend went to Asda this week and she said it was rammed. Sad

WreckTangled · 09/01/2021 19:50

Eugh yes ours gets like that, could make a full on wig out of it Grin

Morning!

The frost and ice has gone - for now - so hopefully the ground will be thawed at the allotment. I doubt I'll do more than a couple of hours there though!

DD is the only one with long hair here, so it was mostly hers! It was pretty special combined with my threads, however. Blush

The kids are playing some elaborate game involving the lounge and DS' bedroom. I'm keeping out of it (once I saw Thor's hammer heading upstairs, it was time to back away)!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 10/01/2021 10:40

Morning. It was lovely driving to work and seeing the sun starting to rise. Really pretty.

I think I would run for the hills if my kids had ever vanished anywhere with Thors hammer.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/01/2021 14:00

No sun here! Gloomy but dry to start and now mizzle.

They're still playing the same game, I think. No sign of the hammer, however! 😂

WreckTangled · 10/01/2021 15:33

We had a bit of sun for a about an hour. Now cloudy again. We went for a walk and are just home having lunch and thawing out. It's not much above freezing.

FireflyGirl · 10/01/2021 19:51

I'm back (hopefully!)

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas 🎄🎅🔔❄

How are we enjoying home schooling with the added incentive of the school spragging on anyone who doesn't do enough?

CrazyBaubles · 10/01/2021 19:54

What a day. We cleared our shed as we had a tip run booked with a van (borrowed from a friend) today so we were up and about early.
From nowhere at around 11am a migraine hit and I've only just managed to open my eyes enough to focus. I'm blaming stress and the resulting lack of sleep. I feel rubbish so am staying in bed and DH is about to bring some toast.

Welcome back Firefly

No dc here but I'm not happy with home schooling things because it means DH will be here interrupting my quiet WFH routine!

WreckTangled · 10/01/2021 20:06

Welcome back fire. My two are at school mon-thurs. Friday was our first day home schooling. Ds needs 1:1 so thankfully dd can get on with it but she's such a perfectionist she didn't finish it all in the day. Ds had done his by lunch time.

I don't envy those trying to work and homeschool at the same time, our school aren't overwhelming us but I don't like the platform they're using.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/01/2021 20:25

Welcome back, Firefly!

Crazy, I hope you feel better soon. Flowers I thought your DH was volunteering to go into school to be there for the key worker kids? Is that not happening now?

Wreck, Google classroom? Bloody awful!

NoWordForFluffy · 10/01/2021 20:27

Have you seen this meme?!

Countdown to Christmas 2021 (thread 1): Here we go again!
WreckTangled · 10/01/2021 20:31

No just class dojo

NoWordForFluffy · 10/01/2021 20:32

Oh yeah, the infants have that. Google Classroom is worse!

WreckTangled · 10/01/2021 20:41

Really?! This is just one long list of different teachers adding different pieces of work and sometimes you have to scroll back ages to find the piece they need to do! Glad I don't have to do it every time. Might offer to work my day off so they have to go in then too Grin

CrazyBaubles · 10/01/2021 20:55

Thank you Fluffy

I'm not sure what platform DH and his school are using. Not a lot of it is live but he has to be available for calls from parents etc throughout the day.

He's WFH as each school is acting as a hub here but their numbers are so low they don't need many staff in and are trying to reduce the amount of people everyone comes into contact with.
I think they have 2 classes in each day so need 2 teachers. DH has volunteered so he's in 1 day each week but he said there was actually a bit of a scramble because everyone wanted to be allowed to come in 😂

FireflyGirl · 10/01/2021 21:48

We're having to struggle through Google Classroom as well. It's ridiculously cumbersome.

They're setting 5 pieces of work a day, we can't print it all, so I'm having to print to PDF and DS uses a touch screen to draw on the worksheets! Nightmare. Or else write on blank paper, take a photo and submit that. So the teacher knows we haven't taken our tree down yet!

They're starting online video teaching from tomorrow, and one of the requirements is for students to be 'appropriately dressed'. That means socks on with his PJs, right Wink

NoWordForFluffy · 10/01/2021 21:55

Anything that's not naked is fine! 😂
