I haven't seen this thread yet and it's one I enjoy - the annual game of fridge jenga!

Here is ours - no meat in there yet so not sure where that is going to fit 😬

There is lots of booze & juice as well as prawn cocktail, squirty cream & double cream, red cabbage, Savoy cabbage, sprouts, a gazillion cheeses

Just filled ours up. We need a bigger one. Can't get a week's food in it meaning I have to shop more than I like. It's tall but not very deep. There's a plastic box full of stuff in the garage - fruit, veg, butter. Better not freeze too hard out there, tonight!

This is a bit much this year I think. Read the room.

BesideTheFire · 22/12/2020 15:38

Maybe I find it painful that @formerbabe comes on here boasting that her DH works. My DH is dead.
But my fridge is full. You win some, You lose some. I actually don't begrudge anyone their living husband, their happiness or their full fridge.

It's huge. Are you a massive family? How can you not fit a weeks food in it?
UndertheCedartree · 22/12/2020 15:38

@BronwenFrideswide - well the fridge posters have brought me a bit of festive fun and cheer. Pretty sure that's what they hoped to achieve and they have. But what did you hope to achieve? You've just made me feel patronised and a bit fed up.

UndertheCedartree · 22/12/2020 15:39

@BesideTheFire - I'm sorry to hear about your husband.

Titsywoo · 22/12/2020 15:39

Mine is pretty full but no booze in there - I'm going to put that outside to chill (looks like low temps on xmas eve and day). We have enough so we don't have to bother going out for food from now until 28th and we do have my best friend here on xmas day as we are her support bubble and she has two children.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 22/12/2020 15:39

Covid rules police, fun police, fridge police...there's no end to the number of people queuing up to tell you just how wrong you are in 2020. It's boring and tiresome. It's like they want the whole country to just wear sack cloth and ashes and be miserable.

Well, I'm trying to make Christmas fun for the kids by spending my Nectar points on treat food. And no amount of dementors will stop me from doing that!

MrsFluffyMuff · 22/12/2020 15:40

Not the same in the slightest.

UndertheCedartree · 22/12/2020 15:40

@triceratops12 - I don't think you've read the room. This room is just trying to have a bit of fun.

Backbee · 22/12/2020 15:41

This is a bit much this year I think. Read the room.

The thread title is clear, there is no obligation for anyone to click on it. Or is no one allowed any fun now because people are struggling.

I wasn't boasting...I was explaining that I'm not in a situation whereby I'm jealous of those with full fridges before anyone accused me of being jealous or assumed it.
islockdownoveryet · 22/12/2020 15:41

Just to warn one or 2 of you I suspect there may be a few people 'bragging' on social media over the next few days .
Like pictures of piles of presents , pictures of Christmas dinner .
Tier 4 people especially don't look as tier 2 and 3 will have 2 other households round .
You may want to stay away if your easily offended .

It's 2020, @Backbee, we're not allowed fun this year. Xmas Hmm
MrsFluffyMuff · 22/12/2020 15:42

I'm not on social media as I cant those similar to you who brag constantly OP, but thanks for the concern Grin

LH1987 · 22/12/2020 15:43

@ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy, your use of the term dementors has really made me chuckle. It’s very apt!

MrsFluffyMuff · 22/12/2020 15:43

*cant stand

BesideTheFire · 22/12/2020 15:45

And I dont think OP was boasting or gloating about her fridge. She was just posting about a kind of cultural phenomenon, a widely shared experience, that many people have at this time of the year. And many of us have given a nod of acknowledgement and not tried to turn it into something else.

Mumsnet is social media..........
UndertheCedartree · 22/12/2020 15:46

@MrsFluffyMuff - so you avoid looking at things you don't like but you think those of us struggling are unable to do that and you begrudge those of us that get a positive boost to our mental health from threads like this?

MrsFluffyMuff · 22/12/2020 15:46

Sorry, any other form of social media I should say. This is an anonymous forum so not the same as Facebook or Insta

MrsFluffyMuff · 22/12/2020 15:47

If you get a positive boost by bragging that speaks volumes about you imo.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 22/12/2020 15:50

@MrsFluffyMuff

It speaks volumes of those who shit on others' small attempts at lightening up a pretty shit year too, IMO.
TheTiersOfAClownAKABoris · 22/12/2020 15:50

Goodness the way this thread has descended has made me very thankful there wasn't a Show Me Your Hanukkah Fridge...imagine! Xmas Wink

UndertheCedartree · 22/12/2020 15:51

@MrsFluffyMuff - where have I bragged? Was it where I said we'd got some treats from the Salvation army? Or where I said I'd not had dinner in 2 weeks so I could buy fresh food? Your attitude is so patronising thinking you speak for all of us who are struggling - you don't!
