Thanks @raindropsonrosesand for the title

I just accidentally set up the thread in the wrong talk board 🤦🏻‍♀️!

Think this will be the thread with Christmas Day on it. I hope all of you have wonderful christmases (well, as wonderful as possible atm) and everyone enjoys all the bargains and you’ve saved money. We’ve been quite careful this year and I’ve definitely saved even more money than usual!

Keep an eye on the sales, I’m assuming the actual shops, given many are closed in the SE atm, will have pretty mega discounts to shift stock once they’re reopened.

You’ve all kept me sane in a slightly insane world this year, here’s to next year Brew Wine Thanks

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

Thank you for Disney colour brain, I keep looking at it and saying no but actually today I bought it!
I was so tempted by the hotel chocolate offers but couldn't justify it... Yesterday a surprise parcel turned up... Some Hotel chocolate from my parents! Actually made my Christmas, such a surprise!

Juliecloud · 23/12/2020 14:31

Has anyone seen any annuals cheap? I normally buy them at the last minute but they don’t seem to be cheap this year!

Luxplus · 23/12/2020 14:39

@WheresMrMonkey

Can anyone help? I remember last year people saying about a game of throwing a dice getting a pressie, certain numbers meant you do certain things like steal/swop?
In Denmark we call it pakkeleg. We have to get a 6 on a dice and then we take a parcel from the table. When all parcels from the table has been taken, we set the timer and then steal from each other when we get a 6. Its usually small and funny or editable stuff.
TheCrow · 23/12/2020 14:47

@Juliecloud the pound shop had unofficial annuals a few weeks ago but not sure if they'll still be in stock

TwnklTwnklLittleStarfighter · 23/12/2020 14:55

@PinkDaydreams I’ve been really pleased with online home shop. I’ve bought weighted blankets and fleece hoodies from them in different transactions. Quality is really very good and they came quickly.

Daisy829 · 23/12/2020 15:05

I used online homestore & so did my sil on my recommendation. & we are both pleased with our purchases. She got some blankets that were on sale (sausage dogs & unicorn) they were £5 each & apparently they are massive & fleecy. My weighted blanket is amazing.

Whenasuitcasejustwontdo · 23/12/2020 15:15

Lisaangel sale now on, quite a few reductions but not as good as the summer sale.

TheCrow · 23/12/2020 15:50

Typo have a 50-70% off sale and selected items are 10 for £10 or 3 for £5

PinkDaydreams · 23/12/2020 16:30

Tesco had quite a few Christmas themed clothes reduced when I went in this morning

Lovemusic33 · 23/12/2020 16:46

I can no longer twitch. Someone hacked into my bank so I had to cancel and order a new card so I can’t spend until the new one arrives, it’s likely I won’t be able to buy any tat in the Boxing Day sales either (which is probably a good thing).

Oh how awful? .... sorry to hear this, good job you were on the ball ,
caffeineanddryshampoo · 23/12/2020 17:48

Just wrapped all the children's presents and now worried I haven't bought a "big" present for eldest. First world problem but I don't want him sad on Xmas day.

PunkAssMoFo · 23/12/2020 18:24

My espa orders from yesterday have indeed arrived this morning! Amazing considering I’m still waiting for for several things ordered weeks ago. Also managed to order some last minute storybook orchestra books to be delivered directly to the recipient from Amazon. Still twitching away merrily.

Daisy829 · 23/12/2020 19:28

@Lovemusic33 I’ve lost my bank card this afternoon whilst getting some last bits. Think hubby is secretly relieved. We are done anyway. I’m going to try to ignore the sales as there’s nothing we really need....although I do fancy a new kettle & toaster

Puffalicious · 23/12/2020 19:55

We had a small, Christmas miracle today. DS16 has been searching for these particular trainers for weeks but out of stock everywhere online in his size, contacted Adidas direct and they replied not sure when restocking these, or even if they'll come back in.

He ordered alternatives from Office, they came but he wasn't 100% on them. We nipped real life to return them in store (Scotland so still open and very near as we're in a city) and right beside is a Schuh store. I suggested popping in to see if anything took his fancy and, low and behold, the ones he's been searching for were there, the last pair left in the shop in size 10!

DS nearly jumped for joy! A wee sunshine moment in the day, particularly since I've not been near a RL shop and this was 15 mins before the shop shut. It was obviously meant to be.

Squ1ggle · 23/12/2020 19:58

@Puffalicious that's great!

Just to say online home shop have the Sienna hoodie blankets in stock again. Obviously too late for Christmas but I've just ordered one for me so it doesn't matter when it arrives

franfranwills · 23/12/2020 20:00

Last minute panic buy on this ooodie style blanket delivery before Xmas apparently fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Yes, I think it happened for a reason, to stop me buying things I don’t really need 🤣, I don’t really need anything in the sales unless Dr martens have a good sale so at least now I can’t spend more.

WheresMrMonkey · 23/12/2020 20:19

Thanks so much!!

Bezzi · 23/12/2020 20:51

Love that @Puffalicious ! Little Christmas miracle. So pleased for your ds

SpamIAm · 23/12/2020 23:05

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who's shared bargains and Christmas spirit on this thread. I hope you all have a lovely Christmas, despite plans being somewhat scuppered this year.

Merry Christmas!

I'm in need of help! Me and DP have been told tonight that we need to self isolate until the 2nd Jan so I'm looking for recommendations for board games. We're not big board game players and he's definitely more competitive than me so need something a bit light-hearted that we can play with a few beers and which won't end in me wanting to kill him 😂 don't want to spend a lot and needs to be Amazon prime-able. We enjoyed game of thrones monopoly, that's about the right level of seriousness for us!

Puffalicious · 24/12/2020 00:50

TheCrow Flags of the world is great, as are Accentuate, Querkle, Risk and good, old fashioned Cluedo still gets pulled out with our teens. Sorry to hear you're isolating. Xmas Hmm

How about cooperative games so you don't compete? Pandemic Code names duet There's also one themed around the universal monsters but the name is escaping me

Ones I enjoy playing with DH as they aren't just tit for tat are:
Takenoko
Flux (lots of different versions, all good)
Carcasinne
Blokus

ocado have a sale on, mostly 1/3 off or 1/2 price. 4 boxes of family biscuits £4, chocs, party food etc. You can also sort by expiry date.
