When do you shower on Christmas Day?

Out of curiosity... this is the first year dc's are old enough to understand and be excited about Christmas.. I don't want to miss a moment of them enjoying their presents or eating special breakfast etc.. but I also like the idea of all going downstairs sleepily in pyjamas to open stockings etc.

Is it madness to shower quickly then change into clean pyjamas before we all go open presents...? What do you do?

Obviously this is a chats and fun post, not actually stressing about it... GrinXmas Wink merry Christmas!!

@SuePreem

I shower at the normal time - My dcs open a couple of presents while I have a coffee.

Then they have a break from presents while I shower as I really don't like being unwashed for much longer than that.

I don't think present opening needs to be a mad frenzy.

You haven’t met my kidsGrin

I have a bath before bed Christmas Eve and then I have a long bath in the evening of Christmas Day. How early and for how long depends on just how much I have had enough of the rest of them tbh. It's my excuse to escape.

DailyPotion · 17/12/2020 21:13

When they were little all piled on our bed to open stockings, then quick shower while they pick up the rubbish and move their goodies downstairs, before breakfast and on to tree presents.

Now, after my early run whilst waiting for some other bugger to get up Grin

When I get up. Consideration for others of any age who I spend Christmas with.

Stockings and Father Christmas presents brought into our bedroom. Open these presents in pyjamas. Then breakfast and showers. More presents before lunch with champagne and canapés

itsgettingweird · 17/12/2020 21:28

Get up. Stocking done on my bed. Even now ds is 16 he still wants to do it this year!

Then breakfast and presents here.

Then usually go to Xmas day swim to watch but it's cancelled this year.

We always shower after that and then head to my parents.

We will still shower before we go but will just laze around longer in the morning!

I shower in the evenings anyway so I'm all sparkly clean for bed Blush

pinkksugarmouse · 18/12/2020 13:05

I'm definitely a shower in the morning girl. When DD was little there is no way I would have kept her waiting for me to have my shower and years later it's still presents and breakfast before shower and dressing.

pinkksugarmouse · 18/12/2020 16:40

As well as being nice and clean, a shower in the morning really helps my muscles and joints. I haven't been able to use the bath since I was a child.
I can't imagine not having a proper wash every day. You might not think you need to but I bet those around you think differently.🤢

HintOfVintagePink · 18/12/2020 19:56

Hair appointment Christmas Eve afternoon, shower on Christmas Eve night once DC are asleep (shower cap) to do ‘proper’ shower i.e exfoliate etc, then quick 5 minute ‘freshen up’ shower on Christmas morning after doing stockings but before breakfast. It takes no longer than a it takes for the coffee to percolate! DH can keep the children contained for that long!

It’s a very sensible question; if I don’t shower at that specific point in the day then I wouldn’t get to do it!

DickAndSizzy · 18/12/2020 19:57

Yeah. Xmas Eve night then Xmas Day night before bed.

HoHoHolyMackerel · 18/12/2020 20:40

Xmas eve night bath with a bath bomb and all the trimmings then a shoerrtom Xmas day night. He dammed if I have time on the bg day

Itstheprinciple · 20/12/2020 17:12

All downstairs in PJs for presents then breakfast. We don't always do a big breakfast unless inlaws are coming over so if it's just us we get breakfast and then one by one drift off to get showered and ready while the others look at presents (unpack and build stuff back in the day, not so much of that now). If inlaws come for breakfast it's a bit more of a rush but still get showered. DD loves a long bath.

delilahbucket · 20/12/2020 17:14

Presents, breakfast, shower and dressed. All at a nice slow pace.

inquietant · 20/12/2020 17:16

The whole premise of this thread made me laugh, of all the things to plan! Just go downstairs, then wash when you go to get dressed. You can't seriously put a shower ahead of a stocking!

MissEllaWater · 20/12/2020 17:42

We don't have a shower installed, but even if we did, no way could I be arsed with that on Christmas morning. I have a bath on Christmas Eve afternoon before I prep the veg for the next day, DD and DH have one on the 23rd usually. I have a quick one on Boxing Day morning, too if I'm not too hungover

mam0918 · 21/12/2020 11:04

we dont, the kids get new bath stuff in the xmas eve box and bath before bed - I'm pretty sure we dont stink that much that 1 day without a shower/bath is the worst crime ever lol.
