When do you shower on Christmas Day?

Out of curiosity... this is the first year dc's are old enough to understand and be excited about Christmas.. I don't want to miss a moment of them enjoying their presents or eating special breakfast etc.. but I also like the idea of all going downstairs sleepily in pyjamas to open stockings etc.

Is it madness to shower quickly then change into clean pyjamas before we all go open presents...? What do you do?

Obviously this is a chats and fun post, not actually stressing about it... GrinXmas Wink merry Christmas!!

Never.om Xmas day

MrsHugsxx · 16/12/2020 21:32

In the morning just after present opening.

VictoriasCousin · 16/12/2020 21:34

With very little kids in the house then the night before, otherwise after breakfast and presents (but before going out)

GintyMcGinty · 16/12/2020 21:35

Presents are opened wearing pjs.

Then I get first shower and cook breakfast for everyone else.

EileenGC · 16/12/2020 21:36

We have Christmas dinner in the evening of the 24th (not British). We all shower quickly after the food has been cooked as we like smelling nice and fresh whilst eating it Xmas Grin Then we're good to put new PJs on after dinner.

On present opening morning (not 25th), everyone comes down in pyjamas. Shower and change only after a veeery lazy morning spent in PJs... breakfast, TV, playing with presents. It's the best Xmas Grin

@myhobbyisouting

Imagine having to wait while everyone showered to find out if he's "been".

I used to almost explode if my mum had a long wee on Christmas morning Grin

There's usually a lull after present opening when everyones got all the batteries in (fuck haven't bought any yet) and the rubbish is tidied away before the cooking starts that I nip away to get showered and dressed. Either into new pjs or clothes if I got some.

After presents, breakfast and walking the dog!

hartof · 16/12/2020 21:43

In the first 6 years we used to wake up stupidly early and DD would still be asleep so I'd have my shower then. After that I started having one after present opening leaving DH to build things.

reluctantbrit · 16/12/2020 21:43

Before breakfast and presents.

I sweat a lot overnight and hate the unwashed feeling and I also hate being in pyjamas outside bed.

majesticallyawkward · 16/12/2020 21:44

I have stockings upstairs for DD to open at the ungodly hour she wakes up, I'm sure the 1yo will be joining her this year... while I get an extra 20 minutes or so to wake up. Last year she was prodding us awake at 4am.

Showering happens when I've had coffee, lots of coffee, and DD has opened her gifts. But I'm a night sweater so washing is non-negotiable 😳

No dc here, but tend to have presents with tea and bacon sandwiches, then shower late morning. I often have a bath at night so don’t care about being in my pyjamas until midday!

DP cooks, otherwise I would probably shower just before we eat as I hate my hair having cooking smells.

YewandOak · 16/12/2020 21:45

Up,shower,make beds.
Then breakfast, wash up and presents when the jobs are done. Can't relax otherwise.

ComDummings · 16/12/2020 21:46

Presents then a shower/bath while DH makes breakfast. I’d feel mean making the kids wait while they’re bouncing off the walls like 2 hours earlier than their usual wake up Grin

indemMUND · 16/12/2020 21:48

After presents and breakfast

SirGawain · 16/12/2020 21:50

In the morning the same as every day.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 16/12/2020 21:50

After opening presents and breakfast. It’s a mad dash, usually just a quick shower. I tend to have a long soak or shower on Christmas Eve.

1sttimemumtobe2021 · 16/12/2020 21:50

After presents! Get up early for presents, a few hours to chill/drink Buck's Fizz/play with presents etc and then shower just before we socialise with others so usually around mid morning.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 16/12/2020 21:52

Between stockings and breakfast. Presents are after breakfast.
Usually day goes...
Tea in bed while we open stockings
DH showers while kids get dressed
I shower while DH starts breakfast
Eat breakfast
Settle down with tea while we open presents.

Maybe because the children are used to it they are never in a rush to get to presents. We have all day to open presents.

Hohomerryxmas · 16/12/2020 21:52

Just before bed on Christmas eve and if I'm sober enough ill have a shower before getting into my pyjamas on Christmas night, if not then it'll be boxing day morning 🤣

Scanner20 · 16/12/2020 21:52

Always bath every night so Christmas Eve. Before I had dc i would bath/shower and get ready for the day sometimes if we were out till late. Now it's just madness at home on Christmas Day and I'd never get away long enough to shower.

snookercue · 16/12/2020 21:54

Is it madness to shower quickly then change into clean pyjamas before we all go open presents...?

Complete madness. Why on earth can't you open presents without showering?

Tbh I probably won't even shower on Christmas Day. It's literally the least important day for showering ever.

chunkyfunk · 16/12/2020 21:54

I will have my usual shower/bath Xmas eve then again Xmas night with all my new bath stuff 🤣

user1471478181 · 16/12/2020 21:56

After 7am then me and the dog go for a cheeky walk to see how many people are up. Then have breakfast then go for another walk with the dog
