We’re not a very ‘present-y’ couple. We share all the finances so usually what happens on Xmas and birthdays is we buy ourselves what we want and when the one of us admires it or compliments the other on it we’ll say thanks, this is what you got me!

Anyway, this year DH has taken it upon himself to buy me something very thoughtful. (He told me he was doing it.) So now I feel I should get him a little something but I don’t know what. He’s a bugger to buy for.

Just after some inspiration really!

Well usually we spend £20 on whatever we can fit into a stocking.... Due to some obvious mahoosive miscommunication....

Dh heard me say we were 'going all out' when in actual fact I said 'the usual nowt'... He has been shopping madly and I need to either pull up my socks and get shopping or big girls pants and say sorry I haven't got time /money /inclination...
Blush

Some kind of cordless tool.

Actually, he bought it himself. I just have to wrap it.

Hotel chocolat velvetiser, SAD lamp, winter running stuff, big bar of toblerone and some star wars lego thing from DD

PassataQueenofBritain · 15/12/2020 17:20

Ooh @LegoPandemic the cantina set is ace- I love the little beige domes! (DS had the set a couple of years ago)

Mine is having a set of Poliakov films that he's wanted for ages, a lock-picking set, clothes, star wars light sabre mug (his old one stopped working a few months back Sad), coffees.

nancybotwinbloom · 15/12/2020 17:25

T shirts, socks, a kitchenaid food processor, a teppenyake grill and two bottles of aftershave

longtompot · 15/12/2020 17:28

A workmate as I'm fed up of him using the dining table for projects
Some thermal leggings as he feels the cold and never seems to have enough of them. Or the elastic goes
A wind proof fleece
A pewter spoon which is small enough to fit in his dark brown sugar jar for his coffee
And I may treat him to a nice whisky.

copperoliver · 15/12/2020 17:32

Trainers. Trousers. Underwear. Pjs Aftershave. Wallet. Chilly bottle.
I get everyone in the house to write a list of stuff they'd like or need and choose some things from it, that way they get what they want but still a surprise. X

MsAwesomeReindeer · 15/12/2020 17:33

I've bought dh a mortar and pestle. He likes cooking and was moaning about not having one a few weeks ago. Not very exciting, and quite possibly a "house" present rather than a "dh" present but I certainly won't be using it as I don't cook.

He's also got a couple of pairs of jeans and some t-shirts. There will be some other little things wrapped up under the tree but all boring stuff like socks and pants. He's not one for liking exciting/surprising presents. He likes me to just replace what he's already got that is wearing out, mainly so he doesn't have to shop for himself.

Mrsfussypants1 · 15/12/2020 18:56

Dh has been hard to buy for this year, he turned 50 in the summer and i went all out and bought him an ipad and wireless headphones leaving my stumped for ideas for Christmas. I had settled on getting him a handmade watch stand/organiser and a new golf watch as we thought his was broken, but it turns out it was the charger broken. I've managed to come up with ideas but they aren't my best.

This year he has:
A sherpa lounge hoody
2 x pairs cosy lounge socks
A big bag filled with boxes of chocolates, fudges and other sweets
New alexa echo plus and smart bulb (panic buy, ours broke and he missed it)
Private eye annual
Set of golf pens and a note book
A box of 12 titelist pro v golf balls

Stocking: nose trimmer, deodorant, shower gel, ball cream, tube of munchies

For his main gift i asked him what he would like and he's asked for a golf club (hybrid driver fairway) which apparently you have to test out at a golf range in person, so I'll be putting a card in with his gifts to remind him to go book a session and I'll buy it then. He's hard to buy for and over the years I've had some succesful gifts (uggs slippers, golf watch) and some crap ones (ps4 has been played on a handful of times).

Hohomerryxmas · 16/12/2020 07:37

Main gifts: Pyjamas, tracksuit, knitted jumper, hotel chocolat velvetiser, miniature desk Henry hoover, massage cushion, molton brown gifts set, laird or lady title gift.

Stocking: power Bank, small drill, chocolate, socks and underwear, leather passport holder and poker chips Coasters.

Littlemissnutcracker · 16/12/2020 07:41

Clothes and decent trainers. Book and chocolate.
Other years I bought stuff related to his hobby. Also a Swiss army knife. Decent North face travel bag. Trip away.

Lille4 · 16/12/2020 07:47

Eau de parfum, book he's been looking for and a ninja food processor/juicer since he's now into gym and making a lot of smoothies.

Redwinestillfine · 16/12/2020 07:51

Coffee machine, Bluetooth speaker, radio, watch are the gifts that went down best with my DH in the past

ArtemisBean · 16/12/2020 07:51

Blimey 😳 Mine is getting a book. If it ever arrives...

Besom · 16/12/2020 07:54

A record player because he said he wanted one but usually I find it difficult.

AlohaMolly · 16/12/2020 07:55

We usually get each other a small gift but DH is difficult to buy for and a moody bugger to boot. I hate buying stuff just for the sake of it, but eventually he sent me a link to some big battery pack with USB charging points and an integrated torch or something, so he’s got that! I’ll probably grab a toblerone or something too.

kitschplease · 16/12/2020 07:55

Bottle of whisky

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 16/12/2020 07:56

I usually spend about £50 but want to treat him this year so he's getting a huge hamper of food with things like Kobe beef steaks and caviar etc. A cable knit fisherman's jumper, a retro strategy game and an oil painting.
