We’re not a very ‘present-y’ couple. We share all the finances so usually what happens on Xmas and birthdays is we buy ourselves what we want and when the one of us admires it or compliments the other on it we’ll say thanks, this is what you got me!

Anyway, this year DH has taken it upon himself to buy me something very thoughtful. (He told me he was doing it.) So now I feel I should get him a little something but I don’t know what. He’s a bugger to buy for.

Just after some inspiration really!

Camera (due to a balls up by Jessops, it won't arrive in time so he's actually getting an empty small cereal box with pictures of a camera on it - the best make shift camera I can do!), record, chocs, boxers, socks, shirt, jumper.

Spent a bit more than usual but as others have said after the year it's been I wanted to get him something special.

Also, it's the final Christmas just the two of us so I expect the Christmas budget for me and him going forward will be lower (baby due April).

OffredOfjune · 16/12/2020 21:51

@NerdyBird

Mandalorian merch Slippers DVD of a series he likes selection of nice teas and coffees sweets made with real gin sausage making kit chocs

Not loads but hopefully he will like them.

@OffredOfjune DH has a millennium falcon silicone heat mat. I'm sure he's planning to have something star wars related in every room!

I think i've seen that before actually! Grin

Yes, we seem to have accumulated something to do with Star Wars in most rooms too. Luckily, I don't actually mind it, so i'll let him have it Wink

WeCameToDance · 17/12/2020 08:04

Black Sabbath Dr Martens (these were requested and a bloody nightmare to find because I left it to late and they sold out)
A record player
A couple of vinyls (boards of Canada)

WeCameToDance · 17/12/2020 08:05

Oh and a King Kong figure that I’m purposefully trying to forget. He collects figures and I’m not sure there’s any room for more Hmm

I've been slightly bothered that my presents for DH are 'nice' but a bit dull...

  • cashmere mix loungewear (hoody and bottoms) + longsleeve t-shirt
  • monogrammed glasses case (he broke his normal one)
  • cashmere beanie hat
  • Molton Brown shower gel (cypress and sea salt or some such)
  • record (Julia Holter)
  • knitted wools socks from local maker
MuckyPlucky · 17/12/2020 08:23

Large art print for his bedroom wall
T-shirt with his favourite tv prog on
Marzipan fruits
Marzipan bars
Knitted mushroom with a mouse on.

MyNameForToday1980 · 17/12/2020 08:26

Oh and an animal charity sweatshirt with an orangutan on it.

That's something wonderful to look forward to next year. I saw an actor who has young children say in an interview that the thing he's hoping for at Christmas is a big box of sleep. That might be on your list for Christmas next year! Wink.

DH is a horror story to buy for Ditto!

I gave up the novelty gifts years' ago. He's not into sport. We can't go on holiday.

So music, pyjamas, books. Ordinarily I'd get tickets for a gig or play too but for now, that's not happening.

Frannibananni · 17/12/2020 08:47

He bought himself something for his telescope 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ll probably get him some fancy sweets to go with it.

goose1964 · 17/12/2020 18:47

I have bought him a jar of mustard, a bag of coffee, a jar of good marmalade and a packet of mints. The main present is his county cricket membership and travel costs.
I'm going into town on Saturday as I'm child care so I'll look for a few more little things.

ZippedyDooDa · 17/12/2020 18:57

Fitbit
New Scientist subscription
favourite booze
garden shears set (he chose this)
socks
chocolates

Aside from the Fitbit, they are all things he would buy anyway

LadyFlumpalot · 17/12/2020 19:00

He's always complaining that our cheap knives are blunt so I've bought him a posh Japanese, hand forged, Damascus metal kitchen knife. That'll have to do because it cost more than our whole other block of knives!

Lindy2 · 17/12/2020 19:08

-An ale selection pack

  • A bottle of Baileys (I may actually drink a fair bit of this Grin)
  • Ferrero Rocher (and eat some of these Grin)
  • A beanbag for heating in the microwave (we have several but they always go missing - mostly lost under beds)
  • Some books - he's chosen and bought them so I'm just giving him the money for them.
  • An engraved brandy glass.

I know he's bought me quite a lot as he wants to make this Christmas special because of the horrible year we've all had.

Gotheeunicorns · 18/12/2020 09:30

He has:

2 x merino wool walking jumpers
Pair of jeans
Socks
Pants
Hockey socks
Shin guard liners

He has bought a new xbox x to share with the kids too.

He is very difficult to buy for. He doesn't drink, eat any crap or drink hot drinks. He can't stand tat. He is very tech savvy so would always buy that himself.

A pair of suede slippers with a very fluffy lining, as he has worn through his old pair and is wearing them a lot WFH.

A tshirt which mocks the fact that engineers are always right (he is an engineer).

And a naice shower gel that he likes.

Oh, and he asked for the cover with integrated keyboard to go with the new ipad he bought himself. So he knows that one.

thriftyhen · 18/12/2020 10:40

Online foreign language lessons bought through a charity auction.

Sn0tnose · 18/12/2020 12:32

Main present is a Ping waterproof golf bag (it is bright green. There is zero chance of him ever getting lost if there is a freak snowstorm on the 9th hole, but it will make him happy)

Playing golf balls from Titleist
Practice golf balls from Srixon
Looking at golf balls with the Incredible Hulk on them
A bag for his golf shoes
T-shirt’s, shorts and hoodies
3 pairs of swimming shorts
A board game he likes
An R2D2 pop socket
Pineapple beard balm

FlamingGoat · 18/12/2020 17:07

We did the bondage restraints last year 🤭

Sadik · 18/12/2020 17:18

"Is no one else doing bondage this year then?"

I'm now feeling very boring - dp is getting new lumberjack shirt, sweatshirt & socks!

(Classy organic cotton - and I know he'll like them, he's very easy to buy for fortunately. )

ElfIsAnAss · 18/12/2020 21:25

@FlamingGoat

We did the bondage restraints last year 🤭
We have strapping with restraints that are permanently set up under the mattress...we just tuck it away when not in use. Fancied trying something different this year! Grin
