We’re not a very ‘present-y’ couple. We share all the finances so usually what happens on Xmas and birthdays is we buy ourselves what we want and when the one of us admires it or compliments the other on it we’ll say thanks, this is what you got me!

Anyway, this year DH has taken it upon himself to buy me something very thoughtful. (He told me he was doing it.) So now I feel I should get him a little something but I don’t know what. He’s a bugger to buy for.

Just after some inspiration really!

Mandalorian merch
Slippers
DVD of a series he likes
selection of nice teas and coffees
sweets made with real gin
sausage making kit
chocs

Not loads but hopefully he will like them.

@OffredOfjune DH has a millennium falcon silicone heat mat. I'm sure he's planning to have something star wars related in every room!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 16/12/2020 17:34

We’d agreed not to bother (except for stockings) but I’ve bought him a box set, series 1-6, of Spiral (v good French crime drama formerly on BBc4) since we both really like it and have been unable to find it on catch-up, Netflix, or anywhere else. He’s a nightmare to buy for anyway, never wants anything, or if he does he just orders it himself.

Final series of Spiral coming up soon though! 🙂

@Stompythedinosaur

I got dp a telescope for his birthday last week which was expensive, so just getting smaller things for christmas. Some vodka, a couple of board games and and a bow drill from the dc (who he helped with studying prehistoric times over lockdown).
What telescope did you buy? Is it entry level? Struggling to know what to get!

Mrsfussypants1 · 16/12/2020 19:57

Ahh, the ball cream! It was recommended on another thread as a stocking filler.

It's a bold move! I think I'd look like a trussed up joint of meat, but I applaud you!

DH is a horror story to buy for, and every year I end up taking back what I bought for him with a face like a slapped arse muttering I'm never buying him anything again...........

So this year, we decided we'd get something for the house we both want and go halves on it instead of gifts. I didn't imagine blowing £1300 on a Naim sound system but thankfully it's amazing Grin

CoodleMoodle · 16/12/2020 20:04

We're doing 4 presents each this year. One from me to him/him to me, one from DD, one from DS, and one from me and the kids/him and the kids. He's got:

Big big bar of chocolate from all of us.

New slippers from me.

Back to the Future mask (his request) from DS.

And then a Back to The Future puzzle in a VHS style box from DD. Only place I could get it was Smyths Toys and they were out of stock for ages... finally came back in on Monday and I ended up twitching and buying two more presents for the DC as well, when I'd already finished theirs!

We also do three stocking presents for adults (me, DH and DM) and this year he's got a new shower puff thing, a wallet multitool and a bag of chocolate coins.

LaBelleSauvage123 · 16/12/2020 20:04

Levis
Biography of Joe Biden
A set of those net food covers (I know but he wants them!)
Beanie with light

ZoChan · 16/12/2020 20:08

A kids spade that he coveted on holiday in Cornwall this year. It's crazy how much I spent on it, and I wondered if he'd remember but, watching a Dino excavation on tv tonight he brought it up and asked if I remember the name of it!!! Ding ding winner of a gift for me 😂

RUOKHon · 16/12/2020 21:15

Is no one else doing bondage this year then?

Some great ideas, hive mind.

A screen print of his favourite album cover.

dylanthedragon · 16/12/2020 21:24

I've bought more this year than usual so he has a meat thermometer, a jumper, a bottle of whisky, the fifa game for the kids' new Nintendo switch 🙄 and some chocolate.

Pinkybike · 16/12/2020 21:35

I've got mine a voucher for a landscape photography day.
3 books
A good bottle of brandy
A multi tool thing
Light up arm band things for running
Chocolates
Socks
And I'm paying for a monthly dark room computer thing that he's asked for.

AliasGrape · 16/12/2020 21:36

Beer selection from local brewery
Smelly cheese
Pocket knife (he said he could use one for something or other a few weeks ago and my ears pricked up)
Hotel chocolat chocolate coated kirsch cherries
Two books - one novel and one military history
Hot sauce

No big main present this year as we agreed just a few ‘bits’ and strong focus on consumables as we really don’t have the space/ storage for any more ‘stuff’ as we have a tiny house and a baby.

We usually do hotel stays or theatre/concert tickets as gifts but that’s out this year (and probably would have been anyway due to very young baby).

By far the most successful gift ever was a wallet ninja - couple of quid but he bloody loved it.
