Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

@IceCreamAndCandyfloss thank you for the advice on jigsaw storage. I would have just gone with the roll one so that’s really helpful. I do love this thread Smile

Does anyone have fake joy cons they are happy with and would recommend please

Elphaba17 · 13/12/2020 14:06

@suneetime

Almost done but I need to buy a jigsaw mat that you roll up and store mid-puzzle. There are loads on Amazon but is there anything specific I should be looking for? Or are they all pretty much the same?
I got a jacques of London one from Amazon and it seems to be pretty good quality. I'm impressed with it so far.
PunkAssMoFo · 13/12/2020 14:22

Quick question for those that recommended Baked in kits. Are they suitable recipes for using with a stand mixer- or are they too basic for that?

suneetime · 13/12/2020 14:39

Thanks @Elphaba17 I’ll take a look at that too

Lolly12 · 13/12/2020 14:41

@nocutsnobuttsnococonuts thanks for logo game advice will get it ordered as think it’s something we’ll all be able to enjoy.

So impressed with QVC. Ordered the Molton Brown set Friday night and was delivered this morning.

Really need to start wrapping now!

Prizepudding · 13/12/2020 15:16

@PinkDaydreams, I asked for weighted blanket recommendations on a previous thread and 2 posters suggested onlinehomeshop.com. I ordered an adult one and it arrived very quickly and I’m very pleased with the quality, it’s also been great for my sleep too. Noticed they had kids ones too and are reasonably priced.

I use them with my stand mixer especially the bread (cinnamon rolls) kit and the rainbow cake. I bake a lot, usually my own recipes but I occasionally use the bakedin kits to save buying loads of ingredients that I will only use once and to save time.
PunkAssMoFo · 13/12/2020 15:21

Thanks @lovemusic, it’s the cinnamon rolls that I have in my basket!

Butterflyfluff · 13/12/2020 16:17

There are some good news stories on deliveries, even via Hermes - I ordered the QVC Molton Brown set on Friday and it arrived today!

Sorry, I just posted the same before I read your post @Lolly12 - really great service

Avoca76 · 13/12/2020 16:28

As a last minute stocking filler can anyone recommend a set of air drying clay?

HollyGennero · 13/12/2020 16:57

I’ve received a few discount codes with parcels/ magazines this week:
BEER52: code PV4 for a ‘free trial’ case (you pay £5.95 postage and it’s then a subscription you need to cancel)
Naked Wines: code PEDC30 password ASP32XYN for £30 off a case costing £49.99 or more (one off not subscription, postage is £4.99)
Betty’s: code TREAT21 for £5 off orders over £40

Thank you for all the bargain recommendations; this week I got the hot chocolate bombs from Home Bargains and the M&S discounted shortbread in the red and white boxes which looks great Xmas Smile

purplepandas · 13/12/2020 17:02

Can anyone please remind me of the book people alternative? I miss BP!

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 13/12/2020 17:11

Lowplex is good for books.

Help! I need a last minute gift that can be delivered to 70 year old couple.
Like tea, gardening, one is a vegetarian. Wasn’t planning to do anything but feeling guilty, £20 ish budget 🙂

Gettingthereslowly1 · 13/12/2020 17:40

Can anyone please recommend a colouring book for 14 year old DD?

And advice on the logo game needed please - would it be far too young for 14 year old DD and 17 year old DS? Exploding Kittens was the last hit from this thread

Gooseysgirl · 13/12/2020 17:44

Hi all! I'm so glad I had seen on here how much difficulty people were having with Matalan orders - I was about to place one! Just wanted to let anyone who's in the NE of London know that the Enfield Matalan store is still well stocked with Christmassy bits - I picked up everything that I had in my online basket, instore this afternoon instead. Christmas bedding had better availability instore and has 30% off. Worth a trip for anyone within easy reach!

Gooseysgirl · 13/12/2020 17:46

And BTW my sympathies to those who have had problems 😔 sounds like it has been a complete mare.

@Gettingthereslowly1 I used to play Logo with DH's family - good fun for adults too I think!

Scout2016 · 13/12/2020 17:55

@Gettingthereslowly1 The Works had a decent range of colouring books hor adults when I was last in, and also books that use transfers which I quite fancied. Looked quiet relaxing.
