Thread 25 - the one where WE GOT TO MAGIC THREAD 25!

Reastie · 05/12/2020 06:50

25th December is Christmas Day and for the first time ever we’ve hit 25 threads! My little challenge every year was will be make it magic number 25 and we’ve only gone and done it and still 20 days to go!

Thank you everyone for posting and sharing ideas and links, so many have been helped in what will be a very difficult Christmas for many, to be able to achieve a Christmas more bumper and less expensive than they had thought they could manage,

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

Iggi999 · 05/12/2020 19:23

I have no bargains, sorry Sad
Lidl have a nice electronic drum kit for £50, in their latest advert. I've just bought a dearer one for dc from Amazon.Hmm

silky86 · 05/12/2020 19:24

Can anyone recommend a heated electric throw for my 87 year old dad?? I'd seen the Aldi ones in stores but by the time he mentioned it they had sold out. Thanks!

Justyou · 05/12/2020 19:28

But random but I saw sushi kits on Amazon & my dd would love one I think, has anyone any recommendations?

Justyou · 05/12/2020 19:31

Can I ask so ask is Jack Daniels whisky ok as a present or is it not really good?

Scout2016 · 05/12/2020 19:37

Jack Daniels is lovely but might be seen as a bit basic. It also depends on who it is for. Whiskey drinkers who like single malt might not like JD as it's a bourbon.
But if it's for someone who likes it but rarely treats themself then it's a good present. And if you know they like it it's a safe present.
I'm look for a bargain offer for me for Christmas, because I don't have spirits in the house often.
Hope that makes sense.

Scout2016 · 05/12/2020 19:38

*I'm looking

villamariavintrapp · 05/12/2020 19:38

@silky86 Costco has heated throws online, £39.99 so quite similar price to Aldi I think? I'm debating one for my mum..

mogtheexcellent · 05/12/2020 19:43

Pendragons cholcate flakes is amazing. As it their milk chocolate with sea salt bar. I ate the two I bought for a hamper so had to sub with the household after eights Blush

for Turtle Doves lucky dip, you can add a message asking for a particular colour (red, green, bright pink etc) and they will do their best to send to you something you will like.

TheSilentStars · 05/12/2020 19:47

@silky86, I got the Beurer one which was reduced on Lakeland but I got it from Amazon for £50. It arrived yesterday, haven't tried it but it has good reviews.

Thank you, it’s down from £26 to £16 in Tesco so was tempted to stock up for the men’s gifts
NaraDeer · 05/12/2020 20:10

Ooh yes please let me know how you get on with the Cadbury’s @TheLastStarfighter. The family I’m thinking of have very young children who drink a lot of hot chocolate, I don’t think they’d like the dark chocolate.

SecretDancer · 05/12/2020 20:14

Wow 25, that's amazing. I've been here for a few years under various names, suck a lovely friendly thread. Thank you everyone, I've saved an absolute fortune here and also bought so many things I didn't know I needed Grin

I've got 2 x 15% off codes for Cult Beauty if they're of use to anyone

Squ1ggle · 05/12/2020 20:15

@uniqlo I'd be interested in those wristwarmers if pp doesn't want them

Squ1ggle · 05/12/2020 20:19

My aldi lego finally came today. So relieved and happy Grin

Can anyone please help? Someone kindly posted on here lots of novel ways to gift money - I thought it was in thread 23 but can’t find it anywhere - I remember the one where money was put in relabelled play dough ‘play for your money’ - can anyone remember which thread it was/any more suggestions?

Shitfuckoh · 05/12/2020 20:45

Gillette sets
Gillette have some pretty decent gift sets on offer (up to 40% off)
They've also got blades etc on offer if you click the 'Christmas' section on the website.

I've put a link on the referral thread for 20% off a £15 spend if anyone is buying anything, can be used with the items on offer too.

BeaLola · 05/12/2020 20:50

Inspired by the suggestions in the Jellycat thread I'm now looking for a discount code to justify buying DS 13 one for his stocking (every Christmas he gets a soft toy in there)

BalaamsAss · 05/12/2020 20:51

Any fatface codes flying around at the minute? DD has just announced that she “needs” a new onesie and I’m tempted to twitch - but only if I can get a code!

thelegohooverer · 05/12/2020 20:53

Not a bargain, sorry, but thought someone on here might be able to help. I have £40 credit with Lookfantastic after the debacle with their advent calendars but I can’t, for the life of me figure out how to spend it and I don’t think I can face any more attempts at communicating with their customer service bots.
I’ve just asked my dsis who was supposed to get the calendar to pick out a treat on the site and I really don’t want to have to back pedal on that as well. But I want to give them my money even less!

TheLastStarfighter · 05/12/2020 20:55

@Gettingthereslowly1 it was thread 21

YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable · 05/12/2020 20:58

@icedaisy I may be corrected, but I think it’s been 8 or 9 years now!

Glad others are sharing my excitement at getting to number 25!

Gettingthereslowly1 · 05/12/2020 20:58
