Thread 25 - the one where WE GOT TO MAGIC THREAD 25!

Reastie · 05/12/2020 06:50

25th December is Christmas Day and for the first time ever we’ve hit 25 threads! My little challenge every year was will be make it magic number 25 and we’ve only gone and done it and still 20 days to go!

Thank you everyone for posting and sharing ideas and links, so many have been helped in what will be a very difficult Christmas for many, to be able to achieve a Christmas more bumper and less expensive than they had thought they could manage,

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

Thanks Sh0ppingstar and I will do the same.

Someone asked about deliveries - I haven’t received hotel chocolat ordered quite a while ago. Will have to check date of order.
Also the original QVC offer - mine arrived damaged and replacement has not yet arrived.

Still happy my oodie came early. Have just got email though to say it’s on the way so they are definitely having problems.

Puffalicious · 10/12/2020 17:29

Bamboozled you're coming up trumps! My DS3 would die of excitement if got one of those snakes in his stocking. I'm on the hunt!!
Jingleballing those biscuits are divine, on the hunt for those too!

TheLastStarfighter · 10/12/2020 17:32

@recklessgran yes, loads of stuff running late on deliveries here. Hotel Chocolat order from mid Nov, Zavvi order from mid Nov, Eufy Black Friday order, Qwertee Black Friday order, character.com Black Friday.

I don’t think it’s the delivery system generally, but just a cumulative effect of delays on some items. Plenty of stuff I ordered since has already arrived. I’m not panicking just yet (although we are also many miles from real shops, that I can’t visit anyway due to tier restrictions).

Martinisarebetterdirty · 10/12/2020 17:36

Agree re Royal Mail deliveries - I have a Brand Alley parcel sent on 2 December - apparently still on its way to RM...

Puffalicious · 10/12/2020 17:39

On the Oodie front all of mine arrived on the 8th with no notification. The despatch date was the 8th so I was expecting them a bit later.

They're worth the wait, I'm invited you, mine was a birthday gift from DH (2 weeks late, but I knew this) and it is phenomenal. All 3 DC have commandeered it so far- thank God they're getting one each for Xmas (although they don't know) as I'll them get it back!

Puffalicious · 10/12/2020 17:41

I'm invited you! I assure you was the correct sentence!

YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable · 10/12/2020 17:48

The oodies, I’m so tempted to get dd (9) one but I’m worried it’ll be huge on her. They’re expensive so I don’t want to make a mistake

SnowDoggy · 10/12/2020 18:01

I have orders taking a while too. I had an email from Royal Mail saying a parcel id been sent on their 24hr service would be with me last Saturday between 9am-1pm and it still hasn't arrived. Tracking still just says the same thing.

Puffalicious · 10/12/2020 18:06

Bamboozled found this snake in a can

Puffalicious · 10/12/2020 18:14

Yule my DS8 has been wearing mine, and whilst huge on him the cuffs are very long and comfortable and pull in really well. I have him one for Xmas and I feel it'll do him for years.

MsMiaWallace · 10/12/2020 18:28

@SnowDoggy DH had something similar from Royal Mail. Message sent saying parcel from Boots would be arriving between 10:30-14:00 yesterday.
It never did. Said parcel was at local depot in Northampton, this is miles away from us.
No further updates from them!!

secretlyhappy · 10/12/2020 18:42

I have been ordering only from Amazon last few days because I want the things before Xmas. Royal Mail parcels take ages but Amazon manages next day delivery.

BeaLola · 10/12/2020 19:33

Are the Dunelm Snuggle Cushions really fab ? Have not seen IRL but may solve a gift problem for a 14 year old. When I looked at the picture I assumed it s like a cushion you could rest on only in bed ?

Also suggestions please - buying for DS godparent - mid 40s male who has asked for a water bottle for gym - said recipient tends to like high quality branded stuff eg takes Molten Brown only as his shower gel for gym, has latest iphone etc etc. I dont mind particularly the cost but want to get it right otherwise it will not get used. Shall i go Swell, Chillys or something else - THANK YOU

chocolatepudandchocolatesauce · 10/12/2020 19:33

I went to find the M&S biscuits but they are still £6 in my store :'( will go back next week to check again unless others update that theirs are all cheaper and I'll go and ask :)

TummyTurtle · 10/12/2020 19:42

We ordered from HC a couple of days ago and surprisingly have just had an email from Royal Mail saying they will be delivering tomorrow morning.

Sylvanian families hedgehog family is reduced to £10.50ish atm

MaudHatter · 10/12/2020 19:45
  • on amazon
lazzaroo · 10/12/2020 20:07

Thanks Lellyo I went for that one for the 11 year old and koala for 8 year old. Hopefully there won't be arguments on Christmas day!

Voiceofreason92 · 10/12/2020 20:27

Are there any Molton Brown discount codes atm?

SnowDoggy · 10/12/2020 20:47

I really want a hot chocolate shaker but I can't justify buying one!

SparklingLime · 10/12/2020 21:15

I get the impression that Royal Mail are struggling under huge pressure - we’ve had extra parcel deliveries as late as 9pm. And a parcel posted on Tuesday arrived this evening.

TheLastStarfighter · 10/12/2020 21:21

@SnowDoggy yes you can! Grin. You haven’t lived until you’ve tried a chocolate orange hot chocolate from the shaker. (I promise I am not in any way affiliated with the company.)

A Christmas present to yourself, maybe?

Lovemusic33 · 10/12/2020 21:22

IWOOT are doing 10 items for £30, I know people have had issue with them so not sure if worth the risk but might be ok if you want to put some things back for next year (if not delivered before Christmas).

Butterflyfluff · 10/12/2020 21:25

The Oodie tracking thing has gone totally haywire

Today I’ve received-

  • An email saying they are having trouble with the tracking numbers
  • An email saying it will be shipped on 30/12
  • A parcel containing the actual Oodie 🤣

It seems it’s pot luck but hopefully most people will get their’s in time for Christmas
