Thread 25 - the one where WE GOT TO MAGIC THREAD 25!

Reastie · 05/12/2020 06:50

25th December is Christmas Day and for the first time ever we’ve hit 25 threads! My little challenge every year was will be make it magic number 25 and we’ve only gone and done it and still 20 days to go!

Thank you everyone for posting and sharing ideas and links, so many have been helped in what will be a very difficult Christmas for many, to be able to achieve a Christmas more bumper and less expensive than they had thought they could manage,

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

Yes it looks like it's on the move now. When I track it the website now says they have it and will deliver Friday. Thanks for the reassurance.

The game and the Hotel Chocolate hamper are my last 2 bargains from this thread to be delivered. Thanks to everyone that has taken the time to post, I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and New year. I will of course still come back and post if I come across any last minute bargains. Merry Christmas Xmas Grin

Must be just ours then! I wish you could buy online.

TheCrow · 09/12/2020 21:55

Think all the Minecraft Christmas jumpers have ended up on eBay, loads of people selling them for £25 with the Primark tags still on 🤨

Hate it when that happens. I remember DS1 & 2 both wanting a switch game (needed 2 as they have lites) and all sold out in store, this 1 was Smyths Exclusive at the time. Lots on Ebay just after they sold out for more than double the price Hmm The same happened with the B&M initial stockings too!
Justonedayatatime11 · 09/12/2020 22:11

Anyone else having issues with the HC hampers? I ordered the melting one which arrived this morning, but only had the melting kit and 1 hot choc in it, missing the batons and the other hot choc Sad. Need it by Sunday and their customer service aren't getting back to me or picking up the phone!

Someaddedsugar · 09/12/2020 22:17
@TildaTurnip - the switch I ordered was supposed to be delivered yesterday - had a text from Royal Mail with an expected time of between 9:42 and 13:42 - but it still hasn't arrived. It was apparently 'dispatched by their supplier' (Very's supplier) on 29th November, but not received at Royal Mail until 7th December, so goodness only knows what it was doing for that week; Royal Mail just says they have it and 'normally expect to deliver to your address between 9:42 and 13:42', but no date....but there was a text yesterday saying it was arriving yesterday? Luckily there is someone home, as it's not the kind of thing I'd want just left.

I can only assume Royal Mail are seriously overloaded? Although I sent two parcels second class last week, and they all got to their recipients 2-4 days later.

I give up! I'm hoping it will come by the weekend?
I had similar with RM yesterday - a text to say my parcel would be delivered between 9 and 1. I had a second message along the same lines today and it arrived in that timeframe. The postman said they're massively behind with there being so much post and people on leave/unwell.

BalaamsAss · 09/12/2020 22:34

Noooo! @Justonedayatatime11.

I only ordered mine on Monday so not expecting it yet. I ordered the Nice List and the Meltingly Good collection. My email confirmations don’t actually detail exactly what I ordered though. I’ve gone back through my internet history on my phone and managed to find the Nice List and screenshot the relevant info, but when I click on the Meltingly Good pages it just shows up as blank. Do you have the info of what exactly is meant to be included? I know there was the small dipping adventure, a regular hot chocolate and a salted caramel hot chocolate. (I think) But wasn’t there something else too?

BalaamsAss · 09/12/2020 22:35

Oh the batons - that was it. So 4 items in that particular collection?

threesenoughthanks · 09/12/2020 22:35

@1122christy I had one email to say it was delayed, another to say it was on its way then a couple today to say it was coming. Mine was delivered by Hermes though. It wouldn't be so bad if you could get some reassurance from Aldi.

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 09/12/2020 22:55

@snotrockets what about one of the M&S musical biscuit tins? They're really pretty and £5 from memory, but you could maybe add a bottle of mulled punch or something if it didn't look enough.

That's so annoying!

truthlemon · 09/12/2020 23:03

@Asj0405 I ordered my Chameleon games on the 30th too and they arrived today.

flumposie · 09/12/2020 23:11

@MrsJamTart I'm having the same issue with the aldi hot chocolate maker. Having to soak it as soon as I've used it and then scrape it.

Connellschain · 09/12/2020 23:12

Cheeky ask but does anyone have a spare Argos or M&S voucher going spare please?

DS hates his new bed so I’m having to desperately re-do his room

The threads go so quick these days, I almost almost miss the puppet posts....

Ah thank you, it was the Christmas version I was after, otherwise I'd be grabbing that Smile

LetsPlayBamboozled · 09/12/2020 23:33

Raindancer411 · 10/12/2020 04:13

@greyinganddecaying We got a Christmas looking Minecraft sweatshirt in Tesco

herecomesthsun · 10/12/2020 05:06

@mogtheexcellent

DH has just started shopping Hmm. He needs a nice fluffy dressing gown in either cream or pale grey for his god daughter. We like to limit to 20 pounds but can go a bit over. Any ideas?

AmberRoseGold · 10/12/2020 06:29

Smash Hits subscription? The only one I can find is £100s so I assume that’s dodgy. Any ideas? I thought it was BBC but their website gives no joy either. Thank you!

margaritasbythesea · 10/12/2020 06:58

herecomesthsun nice dressing gown. One for me. Thanks!

Is anyone else wondering how many raclette makers that people bought a couple of years ago are still being used?

Chocolateteabag · 10/12/2020 07:02

@Demitri - I'll pm you once I get to work (am on my phone on an eerily empty train to work)

CupoTeap · 10/12/2020 07:05

@TheLastStarfighter

I can’t remember who asked, but I said I would report back further on the hot chocolate shaker.

It doesn’t make much difference to Cadbury’s Hot Chocolate, but I find that always dissolved pretty well anyway (better than Green and Blacks for example).

It is AWESOME with Terry’s Dark Chocolate Orange. 3 segments in the shaker with hot milk. Also works out much cheaper per kilo than chocolate flakes.

Quick question - cheapest place for a Switch with WiFit currently? (OK if it arrives after Xmas).

Hot choc shaker? What have I missed?
