Thread 25 - the one where WE GOT TO MAGIC THREAD 25!

Reastie · 05/12/2020 06:50

25th December is Christmas Day and for the first time ever we’ve hit 25 threads! My little challenge every year was will be make it magic number 25 and we’ve only gone and done it and still 20 days to go!

Thank you everyone for posting and sharing ideas and links, so many have been helped in what will be a very difficult Christmas for many, to be able to achieve a Christmas more bumper and less expensive than they had thought they could manage,

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

On the subject of minecraft this book looks a great price.

Asj0405 · 09/12/2020 20:09

@BunnyBerries Ooh great, maybe it will still turn up then. I'll hold on for now, thanks for letting me know Smile

TheCrow · 09/12/2020 20:10

@Notlongnow1 that's really weird, I saw that book in a charity shop for £3.50 the other day, decided it was too expensive and regretted it when I got home and saw it was £17.99 at Waterstones! Of course when I went back to the shop it had gone so I just snapped one up so thanks 🙂 My DD loves danTDM, it is a really good thick book as well

Puffalicious · 09/12/2020 20:11

lolarabbit · 09/12/2020 20:12

@FizzyPink I have a lovely cosy dressing gown from Next similar to this one. I'm oldish and always chilly and it works for me Grin

Puffalicious · 09/12/2020 20:13

TheGriffle · 09/12/2020 20:17

I’ve gone through all my presents today. Thankfully found them in all my obscure hiding places!

Bought the last 2 presents I needed and did a stock check of what I’m still waiting to arrive and I’ve got 8 parcels that I’m still waiting for. Fingers crossed they all come soon then I’m officially done!

Notlongnow1 · 09/12/2020 20:18

@thecrow how strange!

@MydeamonsanOstrich

Can anyone recommend good quality, hopefully bargainous, coffee beans for hard to buy for BIL? He acquired a massive barista coffee machine during lockdown from a local coffee shop that closed down and it's become his new obsession.
They had huge bags of coffee beans in TKMaxx.
threesenoughthanks · 09/12/2020 20:29

@1122christy My black friday aldi order only arrived this morning. Was beginning to get a bit worried too. Fingers grossed yours won't be too long now.

threesenoughthanks · 09/12/2020 20:30

Fingers crossed Hmm

HoHoHolyMackerel · 09/12/2020 20:30

Thanks for the Robin suggestions. I have one winging it's way to my son's Christmas eve box (ba-doom). I'm now declaring myself finished...... Again (help)

Theonlyoneiknow · 09/12/2020 20:32

Coffee Beans, I usually google and look for a local roaster - they usually have 20% off first delivery if you sign up to their newsletter. I recently tried - Dear Green, Glen Lyon, Union Roasted, Artisan Roast and SteamPunk. I would always buy direct from the roaster that way you know they are fresh beans (best consumed within 6 weeks) I have spent all of lockdown trying various coffee roasters!

1122christy · 09/12/2020 20:35

@threesenoughthanks hopefully! It's the emails saying it's getting delivered that day between 1pm and 3pm then not doing that which is worrying and a courier company I Haven't heard of - XDP?

SnapeSnapeSeverusSnape · 09/12/2020 20:38

@Asj0405 My Waterstones order, also placed on the 30th, arrived today, annoying as it contained a 50th anniversary card for my parents and my sister's birthday card, which were both at the start of this week. But hopefully means your order will arrive soon!

greyinganddecaying · 09/12/2020 20:49

Thanks for all the tips on where to find Minecraft Christmas jumpers - I've just done a tour of the shops and sadly all gone (that'll teach me to wait until the last minute!)

Thanks anyway though Smile

MrsJamTart · 09/12/2020 20:51

Is anybody finding that the Aldi hot chocolate ‘velvetiser’ it leaves a chocolate residue that gets stuck on the bottom. Tried both a hot chocolate powder and grated chocolate and it did it both times. The first time I didn’t wash it straight away and it was a nightmare to remove.

MydeamonsanOstrich · 09/12/2020 21:09

Thanks for all the coffee suggestions. Going to have a cuppa and a look through. Once I've sorted this gift I'm done Smile

Adelais · 09/12/2020 21:16

These Book and Soft toy sets are down to £6 on Amazon and would make a nice gift.

Daisy829 · 09/12/2020 21:35

I caved & just did the hour round trip to smyths for the £6 sloth as it doesn’t look hopeful that they will be back for delivery. I’m officially done. Thanks for all the ideas from this thread x
