Thread 25 - the one where WE GOT TO MAGIC THREAD 25!

Reastie · 05/12/2020 06:50

25th December is Christmas Day and for the first time ever we’ve hit 25 threads! My little challenge every year was will be make it magic number 25 and we’ve only gone and done it and still 20 days to go!

Thank you everyone for posting and sharing ideas and links, so many have been helped in what will be a very difficult Christmas for many, to be able to achieve a Christmas more bumper and less expensive than they had thought they could manage,

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

@Raindropsonrosesand

My fairy houses haven't arrived yet either. I haven't been worrying too much yet - deliveries seem slow this year. Really hope there isn't a problem - I'm really looking forward to hiding them in our (very overgrown) garden for DD to discover Xmas Smile
That’s what I don’t understand I placed both orders minutes apart. I got mine the next day but not even a dispatch e Mail yet for the second order
KillZill · 09/12/2020 13:18

So, it turns out there are 7 staff instead of 6 in DTs nursery.
I had previously managed to sort them out with the Wax Lyrical candle bargain back in September.
Anyone know where I can get something similar but cheap? Open to something a little more expensive and could give it to their key worker.

(Sorry, by “tat” I just mean ornamental rather than functional items. No disrespect to Typo’s cushions!)

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 09/12/2020 13:21

@Helssjbells I called Hotel Chocolat earlier, I missed out on the offer as I was trying to get a voucher to work, the products were out of stock by the time I came back to my basket Sad

I explained this to the nice chap on the phone who offered to discount a different hamper by £20 (the Merry Christmas Everyone box). I haven't gone ahead yet as it's actually a gift for DP's aunt and I don't know if she drinks Prosecco, but he said he'd put a note on my file and I could call back and go ahead later if necessary.

Might be worth giving them a call with your questions? I don't think they're getting any extra stock online, more like selling off whatever is left.

(I did wait about half an hour to get through though, you might be quicker calling a store near you first to ask if they'll do any discounts!!)

lexloofah · 09/12/2020 13:22

@yeknom, Thnx, I love it, so Dickensian. Sorry about your mugs, hope you find some new bargain ones. A lifetime of my clumsy Dad breaking things on a regular basis has put me off trying to have a nice full set of anything so embracing the mis-matched look

I am officially done and almost fully wrapped, just here for the chat and lovely Christmas cheer

ASkyPaintedGold · 09/12/2020 13:24

@catcheronthesly Apologies for this late response.. I see I've been pipped to the post! (But in a very lovely way!)
I've managed to finally find Ubercorn & Grandmaster Glitch too - you're more than welcome to have them, if you'd still like them?

Just a guide for how long Royal Mail are taking for deliveries, I got an email on Friday to say my Joules order had been dispatched. Finally got a text from Royal Mail to say they would be delivering it tomorrow.

Jacopone · 09/12/2020 15:42

The Card factory stockings look super cute, @Raindancer411, thank you for the trouble looking for me.
I just love this thread. The exchange of ideas, offers of help, jolly, silly comments... It’s my warm, cosy place to go in December. Star

eliope · 09/12/2020 15:43

thanks @riddikulussness, in my panic I had forgotten about my blue light card. I've finished, honestly I really must have finished now!
