Thread 25 - the one where WE GOT TO MAGIC THREAD 25!

Reastie · 05/12/2020 06:50

25th December is Christmas Day and for the first time ever we’ve hit 25 threads! My little challenge every year was will be make it magic number 25 and we’ve only gone and done it and still 20 days to go!

Thank you everyone for posting and sharing ideas and links, so many have been helped in what will be a very difficult Christmas for many, to be able to achieve a Christmas more bumper and less expensive than they had thought they could manage,

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

The hard to acquire facemask maker machine arrived for dd2 and it’s absolutely battered. Bought on eBay ( new) waiting to hear from the seller

Luxplus · 09/12/2020 08:33

I have a 15% off voucher for the entertainer if anybody can use it?

SparklingLime · 09/12/2020 08:50

What a happy Christmas miracle, @catanddogmake6 and @Catcheronthesly!! 😊

Catcheronthesly · 09/12/2020 08:53

@SparklingLime it really is! I do feel quite emotional about it because I thought I wouldn’t be able to get one!

Ibelieveinyou · 09/12/2020 09:03

@thaegumathteth so sorry to hear you’ve not been feeling well, really hope you feel better soon and a very happy Christmas to you too.

Can anyone please recommend a scooter helmet for an 11 year old? She has always worn a micro one and is currently in a size medium, but it keeps slipping backwards. She grew out of a small which used to fit perfectly, I think this one must not suit her head shape but they all seem the same?

caffeineanddryshampoo · 09/12/2020 09:08

Any books4people codes? I seemed to have glossed over all the chat about them!

BeaLola · 09/12/2020 09:09

@dizzygirl1

I've bought some 'make your own' crackers, just wondering what to put in them now..... Any ideas?
Lottery ticket Lip balm Festive brooch/earrings Lindor sweet or other chocolate Mini alcohol bottles Pretty face mask Hair slides
girlsyearapart · 09/12/2020 09:09

@Ibelieveinyou got ds one in Halfords the other day is like a motorbike helmet and fits so much better than the usual ones

Got a reply about the battered facemask maker they offered me a £2.50 refund. I turned it down and replied that it doesn’t help me to give it as a present ..

Bridecilla · 09/12/2020 09:27

Make your own crackers sets are more expensive than filled crackers on amazon!

Has anyone seen any bargains?

dizzygirl1 · 09/12/2020 09:37

I picked my make your own set of crackers from Sainsbury's with 25% off so they were £1.86 I think.... But filling them is more difficult 😂

Thank you for all the suggestions.... I will be off to look at them... Lottery scratch card I think definitely!
Also thank you for the lego bargains, my DM had given me £65 for DS and there is a lego car half price for £62.50 which will be perfect!

TinyTroubleMaker · 09/12/2020 09:39

No worries Fluffy it is a useful piece of information!

Jacopone · 09/12/2020 09:46

Ay, Christmas stockings taken out from cellar and have a distinctive musty smell. Will try washing them but if get ruined I will need emergency replacements Are there any left in shops? London, so no Home Bargains or BandM stores. Ours were from Asda bought over the years, ages ago and dearly treasured. I’m stupidly fond of them but feel I should probably get some new ones just in case. 😢

Does anyone want a 20% off Matalan code?

ClaraLane · 09/12/2020 10:07

@HoHoHolyMackerel

Would anyone be able to recommend a nice push along toy? My son started walking today Smile at 10 months (OK nearly 11) so I'd love to get him something. Bargain would be wonderful

I placed 2 orders on the fairy houses last week, mine arrived the next day but no news at all about my mothers order and I’ve tried to contact them but no option to contact by phone and they aren’t replying to my emails. Has anyone else had any trouble?

mogtheexcellent · 09/12/2020 10:29

DH has just started shopping Hmm. He needs a nice fluffy dressing gown in either cream or pale grey for his god daughter. We like to limit to 20 pounds but can go a bit over. Any ideas?

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 09/12/2020 10:30

Sainsbury’s & Morrison’s usually have nice ones.

lexloofah · 09/12/2020 10:32

Just back from TKmaxx, found a lovely Royal Stafford Christmas plate for £3.49 to add to my deliberately random collection of Christmas serving plates and bowls

pardon the usual hard to remove sticker

They had loads in the store but can't see on the website

PinkJam · 09/12/2020 10:33

@thaegumathteth I wish you well and hope you have a lovely Christmas Smile

Yeknom · 09/12/2020 10:36

Ooh that's really pretty @lexloofah. I keep meaning to pop into TK Maxx. In one week I've smashed two of our Emma Bridgewater bargain mugs from a couple of years ago 🙄 hoping that they'll have some as I buy mismatching ones too

SparklingLime · 09/12/2020 10:39

Try bicarb and/or white vinegar, @Jacopone?

Aww I just love this thread, full of Christmas spirit.

Fuckingfuckssake · 09/12/2020 11:16

An offer for the Photobox coasters popped up on my Facebook feed earlier and now I can't find it! It brought them down to £8, now is that the best we can do? And, does anyone happen to know what the code is 🙄
