Thread 25 - the one where WE GOT TO MAGIC THREAD 25!

Reastie · 05/12/2020 06:50

25th December is Christmas Day and for the first time ever we’ve hit 25 threads! My little challenge every year was will be make it magic number 25 and we’ve only gone and done it and still 20 days to go!

Thank you everyone for posting and sharing ideas and links, so many have been helped in what will be a very difficult Christmas for many, to be able to achieve a Christmas more bumper and less expensive than they had thought they could manage,

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

Zalando is a possibility for the peacoat.

Sycamorescrumptious -Cressida Cowell's Wizard of Once books could be good

Does anyone know where I can buy postcards with photos of wildlife on. Dd wants to make a wall of them. She likes mice, squirrels, hedgehogs etc. The real animal not cartoons. I thought she wanted big obes which you can get from ebay, but I was wrong. And now I am running out of time !

Could you print images from internet onto card? Or laminate?

Thank you so much & also to Luxpkus for finding/knowing what I meant when I had no idea - still trying to decide which one or two to buy them - have imposed a deadline of later today to decide by Smile

Hi all I've kind of fallen off these threads as I've been not well at all the past week. I'm still not right so not online much but wanted to pop on and say thanks to everyone for their hints and tips and I truly hope everyone has a happy Christmas!

British wildlife postcards here: www.amazon.co.uk/POSTCARDS-BRITISH-ANIMALS-collectors-postcrossing/dp/B00P95E1J2?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

It sounds like you might need a lot to make a wall collage!

Vebrithien · 09/12/2020 01:32

50% off of the last marked price,on lots of items in M&S outlet stores

I got a full length wool ladies coat for £25 yesterday, down from £100.

Gardening present? Soil moisture metre:

NoWordForFluffy · 09/12/2020 05:06

Just a warning to be careful with gardening presents. I often see presents recommended and wouldn't want them myself (I have an allotment). It's always worth asking the gardener in your life if there's anything they'd like, as there probably is!

TinyTroubleMaker · 09/12/2020 06:28

Thanks Fluffy I will admit to having no idea about gardening Blush

BalaamsAss · 09/12/2020 06:35

@Shufflebum the best I could find was the 15% off for signing up to emails. You have to be patient though - it took 24hrs from when I signed up to the emails before my discount code came through. They did of course manage to send me a reminder “you’ve left something in your basket” email after just a few hours, but the promotional code one seemed to take forever. I was very tempted to give up but as our non-essential stores are still closed and I know it’s going to be hell at the shops from Saturday onwards as people make a mad dash to fulfil their shopping once they reopen, I have zero desire to go out to do real-life shopping.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/12/2020 06:39

@TinyTroubleMaker

Thanks Fluffy I will admit to having no idea about gardening Blush
It wasn't just aimed at you, sorry! People often discuss gardening hampers on here, and I wouldn't want / need most things suggested.

I'd hope that most adults are amenable to being asked what they'd like so money isn't wasted!

margaritasbythesea · 09/12/2020 06:53

CeeceeBloomingdale,
Renarde Renarde, thanks those are all perfect. I'm ordering a selection.

Willsantabecoming - that's what she suggested but we only have black and white printer and the local print shop isn't doing colour because of Covid (they have to work the machine).

catanddogmake6 · 09/12/2020 07:43

@Catcheronthesly is this Ubercorn? Must admit it’s been a while since mine loved the Gojetters. If it is he was free off a magazine. If you pm your address I’ll pop him in a bit of bubble wrap and post.

Lovemusic33 · 09/12/2020 08:24

I’m going into town to brave primark, I need gloves for the kids as we are going to a outdoor event at the weekend, I hate our local primark and it’s going to be hell, wish me luck...

DD’s Jellycat is arriving today and I’m stupidly excited 😛 it’s the last gift to arrive so I have technically finished and almost wrapped too.
