Thread 25 - the one where WE GOT TO MAGIC THREAD 25!

999 replies

Reastie · 05/12/2020 06:50

25th December is Christmas Day and for the first time ever we’ve hit 25 threads! My little challenge every year was will be make it magic number 25 and we’ve only gone and done it and still 20 days to go!

Thank you everyone for posting and sharing ideas and links, so many have been helped in what will be a very difficult Christmas for many, to be able to achieve a Christmas more bumper and less expensive than they had thought they could manage,

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

@shipperssss
Seconding TKMaxx, best prices I’ve seen for Spode. It is also currently on BrandAlley, I believe, though you’ll need to be quick on there (timed sales).

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 07/12/2020 19:52

I’ve lost two of my side plates and one bowl from my Spode tree collection- literally no idea where they have gone. Going to try TK maxx but they are so unreliable for stock. Wish they’d sell it online.

TummyTurtle · 07/12/2020 19:52

Thank you so much for the HC stacked codes! Finally sorted my DB's gift, the last one to buy!

I bought Spode Christmas tree from Port Merrion last year. Delivered on time and no problems or damage with the consignment.

That's my shopping finishedXmas Grin

mogtheexcellent · 07/12/2020 20:32

@NaturalBlondeYeahRight

I bought the bowls from an Ebay seller last year as I got the large deal from spode with mugs instead of bowls. Worth trying Ebay?

kulaexchange · 07/12/2020 20:33

Any Lego experts on here? I've suddenly decided I need the Lego gingerbread house (code 10267) and that I can justify the price tag because building it will become a Christmas tradition every year ... the only problem is that it's sold out on the Lego website, John Lewis and Amazon. I found it on bric-brac but it was £150.00. Does anyone know if it's likely to come back into stock before Christmas?

Shitfuckoh · 07/12/2020 20:51

I can't work out what the Hotel Chocolat offer is (or where to find it) haha

TheLastStarfighter · 07/12/2020 20:57

@Shitfuckoh it’s what @JoHo123 summarised

Go through Top Cashbackgir 11% cashback.
£20 off Meltingly Good, Nice List and Mellow collection with code HOLLY20
£5 off £30, £10 off £50 or £20 off £80 with code CLHCXMAS
Free delivery with FREEDEL30

rosebb1 · 07/12/2020 21:01

@Elskerdeg

Another broken Aldi hot chocolate maker here, I'm so disappointed as it was an early Christmas present I'd given out Sad
I'm going to return mine I think...really disappointing to hear of so many faulty ones.
Shitfuckoh · 07/12/2020 21:05

@TheLastStarfighter
I couldn't see that post for looking! Grin
Thank you!
& you @JoHo123 although my bank balance may not thank you!

@kulaexchange I would give Lego a call and ask. Loads of sets have sold out this year. I was after mandalorian set for ds and waiting for price reduction. That never came and when Lego sold theirs out I bought it from Amazon straight away.

Good thinking - thank you!! Will give it a try! X

CoffeeAndEnnui · 07/12/2020 21:15

@TheGriffle, does the weighted blanket look like a 'naice' gift, is it packaged well? I think it would be ideal to finish off a relaxation pressie for a friend with anxiety but she can be a bit sniffy about things that look cheaper. Essentially I want the best of both worlds: expensive looks/cheap as chips priceXmas Smile

TheGriffle · 07/12/2020 21:19

I can’t get to it to take a photo @CoffeeAndEnnui but it looks similar to the attached photo.
Thin fabric type bag with clear front and zipped up.

Has anyone successfully bought the cute cat’s paw socks? They seem to be on some scammy looking sites, and I’m avoiding amazon.

I'm desperately seeking the holy grail that is the M&S light up gin Hmm. Has anyone seen any in their local store?

Liverpool city centre had loads! They were in with all the cards and wrapping paper, a big table full. May be worth looking around your local store in areas you wouldn't necessarily think they'd be as I thought it strange they were where they were.
SweetPeaPods · 07/12/2020 21:31

Wow thread 25, well done Reastie!

Yes there was loads in my store in Cornwall today, I was very surprised
Annie1290 · 07/12/2020 21:36

Anyone miraculously got any free delivery codes for Typo? 🙄 have decided I need a secret Santa present from there but £5 delivery on a £3 item seems extortionate!

Shitfuckoh · 07/12/2020 21:38

Ha. I've bought some of the Hotel Chocolat stuff, no idea who for didn't want to feel left out & it was a bargain!

alittleprogresseveryday · 07/12/2020 21:50

Just wanted to say for anyone that ordered the Laithwaite’s wine deal, I’ve now tried a bottle of the wine and it was lovely, so far so good and I’m rather fussy... I’ve also checked and the cashback has worked too so really pleased.

I’ve got so many gifts sorted thanks to this lovely thread and you lovely people, and the wine was a really nice treat to myself that was just too good to resist.

Casablanca78 · 07/12/2020 21:50

@PinkDaydreams I thought exactly the same but then when I picked one up realised it was bubble bath, the bottles look almost identical! So disappointed but did explain where it was located though!

Casablanca78 · 07/12/2020 21:52

Do the hotel chocolate offers on the collections come in any kind of presentation box or is it just loose individual items. Trying to work out how giftable it is as one present or will need some boxing up. Thank you
