Thread 25 - the one where WE GOT TO MAGIC THREAD 25!

Reastie · 05/12/2020 06:50

25th December is Christmas Day and for the first time ever we’ve hit 25 threads! My little challenge every year was will be make it magic number 25 and we’ve only gone and done it and still 20 days to go!

Thank you everyone for posting and sharing ideas and links, so many have been helped in what will be a very difficult Christmas for many, to be able to achieve a Christmas more bumper and less expensive than they had thought they could manage,

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

Does anyone know what a 27 year old who is in the Army Reserves would like for Xmas? I've been told 'army things' - helpful. It's for BIL who I don't ever speak to but he's coming to ours for Christmas so we need to get something.

TheSilentStars · 07/12/2020 15:47

Build a Bear Olaf is £7 from £21.
I was after something for a toddler so Olaf will do nicely!
I don't need Hotel Chocolate pop ups tempting me...(she says as she keeps reloading the page in anticipation)

Thank you so much saltedcaramelhotchoc that has just worked for me-you're a Halo

I hope it has worked for you too Doordye

VividImagination · 07/12/2020 16:03

@TheSilentStars this might be a silly question but I’ve never been to a build a bear. Do they come ready built when you order them online or do you have to finish them off?

I would like to send something to my cousin’s (whom I haven’t seen for 25 years) grandchildren and I wondered if build a bear’s would work.

NotEnoughTime · 07/12/2020 16:07

Turnedouttoes You're so lovely. What a kind thing to say. You have made me cry even more but in a good way if you see what I mean.

Honestly, though please don't worry I have already ordered my sister another candle from NEOM. It just means that my DH won't be getting a Christmas pressie this year-only joking, I'm not that evil Xmas Grin

I really appreciate your kind offer though. I think this is the nicest thread on Mumsnet, it certainly has the nicest people on it.

WIshing you and yours a very merry Christmas Xmas Smile

I had no idea either! But you choose your "bear" and then add extras like clothes, and sound effects. I just went for Olaf because he was on offer (there are other offers too, and if you spend £25 you also get a £10 voucher for them for only £5)

They come ready stuffed and you can add the cardboard boxes for 50p each which I would reccomend as its part of the gifting experience.

Aaaargh. My boris the badger slippers are far too big. Dh is going to have to walk around with them flapping around.Grin

@Turnedouttoes

Oh *@NotEnoughTime* that is really unfortunate, I’d probably have cried as well! I run a very small candle business and would love to send you one for your sister. It’s not Neom by any stretch but we’ve got some lovely Christmas scents and they come in a nice gift box. I’ve experienced the kindness of this thread and would love to pay it forward
Can we have the details of your candle shop please? I love a good candle!
VividImagination · 07/12/2020 16:31

@TheSilentStars @Elphaba17 thank you. They look lovely and quite a few on offer.

1stTimeMama · 07/12/2020 16:31

Does anyone have a discount code for Dunelm at all please?

TheGirlWhoLived · 07/12/2020 16:34

@Turnedouttoes I too would love to buy a little something from you, it’s my birthday just before Christmas and I’d much rather support a smaller business! Usually I buy from the Christmas market but I can’t get out to one this year, if there are even any going ahead! I know our local isn’t Xmas Smile

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 07/12/2020 16:41

Elskerdeg · 07/12/2020 16:47

Another broken Aldi hot chocolate maker here, I'm so disappointed as it was an early Christmas present I'd given out Sad

My broken Look Fantastic shampoo is being refunded, my missing Bluetooth ear things are still missing (Amazon just tell me every day they are going to be delivered two days later) and my IKEA order made 24 days ago has finally been despatched!

CompleteBarstool · 07/12/2020 18:06

Probably not in all Tesco but in the (not very big) one by my mum they had some Faith in Nature handwash etc for 90p. It's about £3.50 in most places.

Would be a nice addition to a stocking or hamper for any green-living types. I bought some for student DD's stocking.

I probably wouldnt go to Tesco specifically to get some as I doubt it's in all stores but if you're there anyway it would be worth a look. It was on a high shelf with reduced labels on the front of the shelf. They also had another eco-conscious brand (baby ptoducts) and fake tans etc

BalaamsAss · 07/12/2020 18:20

Oh my giddy aunt @AFingerofFudge! I was resisting until you posted that! DH might just have a canary when he sees what I’ve just ordered from HC Blush
