Thread 25 - the one where WE GOT TO MAGIC THREAD 25!

Reastie · 05/12/2020 06:50

25th December is Christmas Day and for the first time ever we’ve hit 25 threads! My little challenge every year was will be make it magic number 25 and we’ve only gone and done it and still 20 days to go!

Thank you everyone for posting and sharing ideas and links, so many have been helped in what will be a very difficult Christmas for many, to be able to achieve a Christmas more bumper and less expensive than they had thought they could manage,

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

Hotel Chocolat have just revealed the offer to me - obviously I'd been dithering for long enough on the website!!

HOLLY20 gives up to 40% off on the Meltingly Good collection, the Mellow Christmas one and the 'Nice' list one

LostMyRubySlippers · 07/12/2020 13:56

I just got the pop up & these are the ones it says are included
The Meltingly Good Collection
The Mellow Christmas Collection
The ‘Nice’ List Collection

LostMyRubySlippers · 07/12/2020 13:57

Ah cross post Clara!!

sugarplumfairy2010 · 07/12/2020 14:16

Hello wise mumsnetters - where can I find these much hyped chocolate bombs? I must admit I don’t even know what they are😂.
I was given a request for them over the weekend along with the MandS Percy the Pig soft toy. Went to M&S today, got the sodding Percy for £10!🙄 but no chocolate bombs to be found anywhere. In fact they didn’t hear of them in MandS or Whittards or Thorntons.... So where in real shops do I get them from??

Does FREEDEL work with this?
PitNicking · 07/12/2020 14:35

@Jacopone Lakeland had hot chocolate bombs and so did Home Bargains.

ThePurpleGirl · 07/12/2020 14:40

@Chabbylis

I had the Hotel Chocolat website open, have been kicking myself for not confirming a Black Friday purchase. Then a promotion appeared: holly20 gives £20 off a selection of 3 hampers. I just bought 2 at £55 for £70! freedel30 still works too :)
Thank you so much @Chabbylis. I also dithered over their previous offer and then regretted not doing it. Oddly it's showing 4 things as being in the offer for me, the same 3 as everyone else but also the cream liqueur bundle. Unfortunately when I tried to add that one the discount didn't work which is a real shame as it was only £27 in the first place so it would have been a bargain with £20 off!
livingthegoodlife · 07/12/2020 14:45

Chocolate bombs shaped like snowmen with marshmallows available at Flying Tiger £2 each. Both milk and white chocolate available.

M&s also have a set with flakes and small chocolate balls (about truffle sized) that go in too.

pmac62 · 07/12/2020 14:47

For anyone who has not got a velvetsier yet lakeland have a gift set for £94.99.

Lolly12 · 07/12/2020 14:51

I’ve still got loads to buy starting to panic... does anyone have any recommendations for a nice dress up set for a 3 yr old (either chef or police)? Would prefer to order from a smaller shop over Amazon. They’ve had enough out of me already this year.

SnowDoggy · 07/12/2020 14:53

Thanks for the Hotel Chocolat heads up. Got the nice list collection and going to split it up between my DM and MIL as needed something extra to go with their gifts. And I'll eat the rest Grin

Jacopone · 07/12/2020 15:14

Thank you @PitNicking. If I understand correctly those choc bombes are basically hollow chocolate balls filled with marshmallows that you pour hot milk over. I wonder if good quality tea cakes wouldn’t do the same job only in a much cheaper way. I know, not the same if you want it for a present, but perhaps could give similar results. Will check Lakeland to have a proper look at them.

CompleteBarstool · 07/12/2020 15:23

The chocolate bombs seem to be as rare as hens teeth round here. I regularly tried Aldi and Home Bargains but they were always out of stock.

Thankfully a friend got some for me in the end when she went to Aldi one evening and they were restocking the shelves.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 07/12/2020 15:25

Thank you for the chocolate advice @SomethingInTheWaySheCooks and @livingthegoodlife

2mileB27 · 07/12/2020 15:26

Thank you very much @Chabbylis for the HC codes. Just ordered 3 of the Mellow collection with the discount and free delivery for £105 instead of £160. That’s a great help!

WeAreTheWeirdosMister · 07/12/2020 15:28

@Jacopone don't tea cakes have a biscuit base . . . and jam? I'm I mistaking high quality tea cakes for Wagon Wheels here?

mummyof2boys30 · 07/12/2020 15:34

Has anyone had any bother ordering from the hut. Wish id read their reviews first. Missong a £190 order and they just said due to covid. Apparently dispatched a week ago and royal mail still showing as not received it

NotEnoughTime · 07/12/2020 15:35

2mileB27 I'm trying to do the same but HC won't accept the FREEDEL code. How did you manage it please?

NotEnoughTime · 07/12/2020 15:38

I need cheering up as my 'D'H has mistakenly thrown away a NEOM candle. Honestly I could cry I did.

In fairness he thought the box was ready for the recycling so he thought he was doing a good thing but I am gutted as the candles are not cheap and it was meant as a Christmas present for my sister who loves candles Sad

Doordye · 07/12/2020 15:39

I’m having the same issue
saltedcaramelhotchoc · 07/12/2020 15:41

Try FREEDEL30, that just worked for me.

NotEnoughTime · 07/12/2020 15:42

I'm glad I'm not alone Doordye Grin

Jacopone · 07/12/2020 15:43

@WeAreTheWeirdosMister, oh dear, quite possibly🙆‍♀️! You can tell we are not chocolate eaters in this household. I somehow remember teacakes had chocolate coating, marshmallow bit inside and what I thought thicker chocolate base, no jam. But the last time I had them must have been 8-10 years ago, so they might well have changed ..

2mileB27 · 07/12/2020 15:45

@NotEnoughTime and @Doordye put the Freedel code in the same box as you put the discount code in I.e afterwards if that makes sense?
