How much have you spent on Advent Calendars?

As a child we just had a picture advent calendar to share. Not even a chocolate one.
I have been looking at the threads where you all share what your advent calendar reveals on the day, and feel like I’m missing out.
So I thought I’d treat my self to one (better late than never) but I am shocked by the price of some of them £80! And it may not even contain much that you’d use. And some of you have bought two or three for other family members.
So go on, shock me some more with how much you have spent this year.

I have two more, one cardboard tree where you add the animals, and another with cardboard windows to open and a picture behind, that I use every year.

PTW1234 · 03/12/2020 18:04

£35 for DS, it’s actually a mini Christmas tree with lights etc and 24 chocolate coin baubles

£8 for me (it cheese)

I wouldn’t normally, we had a little wooden house I used to fill will chocolate coins but it broke last year

MysweetAudrina · 03/12/2020 18:08

I made 2 for dd and ds which cost me around £100

H&B for sd £45

LF for me £79

rottiemum88 · 03/12/2020 18:08

£5/each for a basic chocolate one for DH and I, £12/each for the dogs, £25 for a reusable fabric one for DS and another £15 for this year's chocolates to go in in, so £74.

Helpel · 03/12/2020 18:10

Bought my 2 dd's the lindt bear one - £15 each. Me and dh didn't bother his year but are both now regretting it!

Plonque · 03/12/2020 18:14

Normally get cheapo cheapest ones but this year went for slightly better £5 ones for the DC.
I normally treat myself to a beauty one at £50-£75 but haven't this year cos I still have most of the last two years bits and pieces, so I have saved on that.

RightOnTheEdge · 03/12/2020 18:14

I never knew people spent so much on advent calendars this thread has been an eye opener.
Mumsnet always makes me feel so poor!

TheCrow · 03/12/2020 18:15

Around £2.75- white choc coins, choc coins and chocolate lollies to go in DDs refillable calendar. I don't think I could get one for the cat because he'd never forget it and expect one every day for the rest of his life 😂

HomeSliceKnowsBest · 03/12/2020 18:15

49p for a Trolls chocolate advent calendar on 1st December for DD. £9.99 for a huge Frozen book one from B&M (a small book a day) also for DD. £4.99 + p&p for an old fashioned picture one for me. And I was gifted a Boots no7 calendar from DSis for my November Birthday (which she'll have got cheaper as she works for Boots Wink).

WhereOnEarthDoIStart · 03/12/2020 18:17

£10 for 4 calendars.
We have got Lego ones now and then for DC - but usually stick to the simple chocolate ones.

mum2jakie · 03/12/2020 18:18

Nothing - forgot until the 1st December and Morrisons had sold out! Would only have got basic chocolate ones for the kids

iklboo · 03/12/2020 18:20

I got myself the Bonne Maman mini preserves one for £22 - I've never had a 'nice' one and this is lovely. DS & DH were £10 Lindt ones.

freezedriedromance · 03/12/2020 18:21

I have a wooden one where we fill it with chocolates every year. Cost £20 around 5 years ago and each year I spend £1-2 on the chocolate to go in.

Inastatus · 03/12/2020 18:22

Around £80 total for both my teen DC’s. First year I’ve ever bought them an expensive calendar because they’ve missed out on so much this year. DD has a Benefit one which she’s delighted with and I know she’ll use everything it contains. DS has a pop Funko one and is very chuffed as he collects the figures.

joystir59 · 03/12/2020 18:23

£36 on two calenders from our local artisan chocolate.

tunnocksreturns2019 · 03/12/2020 18:23

£1.50 choc ones each for DC; a friend got me one with bath fizzers etc. Same playmobil one has come out every year for 10 years now and I’ve not lost a piece yet Smile. And I sent my brother and said friend the £5 Lindt one.

Splashed out on the Harry Potter one last year as a clue to DCs Christmas present (studio tour) - using it again this year but the Lego keeps falling into the wrong days!

Sonofapizzaman · 03/12/2020 18:24

@RightOnTheEdge I think most people have probably gone a bit extra with calendars this year because of how shite 2020 has been! I’ve never even bought my kids one before. They get a standard Cadbury etc one from my parents.

joystir59 · 03/12/2020 18:25

Chocolatier

stayathomer · 03/12/2020 18:26

Got a no 7 one one year for a present, the make up lasted me 2 years, think was 50euro

AnxiousWeirdo · 03/12/2020 18:26

£7.50 on a Frozen 2 make up type one for DD. I fancied one but I wasn't sure what I wanted so I'll probably browse the sales after Xmas 😂

stayathomer · 03/12/2020 18:27

Oh and we got lego city one 3 years ago 35euro and every part of it is still played with so again would recommend!

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 03/12/2020 18:28

£40 on a Holland and Barrett one for me, £35 on a Degustabox one to share, and £5 on Celebrations one for DS
I always have a beauty one, usually M&S and so feel I have to get DS a more luxurious one too!
The Degustabox is extra as it's been a shit year and we won't be able to do many of the pre- Christmas activities we normally would.

CottonSock · 03/12/2020 18:30

£1 each for kids chocolate one and £5 my lindt. They are a bit jealous

princessphoenix · 03/12/2020 18:30

We have a wooden one that you fill up your self with a wee treat. Had it a few years now. So the price of a bag of wee chocolate Santa's.

Bananaman123 · 03/12/2020 18:32

£300ish but they are both part of my christmas present from dp. I have feel unique and cult beauty because i love trying new skincare. I research every year which each beauty ones contain and decide. The feel unique came with a gift with pruchase and money off

My favs in the past were Rituals, Loccitane, Lumene, Glossybox, Body shop
