How much have you spent on Advent Calendars?

As a child we just had a picture advent calendar to share. Not even a chocolate one.
I have been looking at the threads where you all share what your advent calendar reveals on the day, and feel like I’m missing out.
So I thought I’d treat my self to one (better late than never) but I am shocked by the price of some of them £80! And it may not even contain much that you’d use. And some of you have bought two or three for other family members.
So go on, shock me some more with how much you have spent this year.

£2 for a big bag of Jelly Tots to put in the wooden sleigh MIL gave the the DC.

50 Christmas themed books for a Book Advent Calendar...I've collected them over 20 odd years of teaching so it is hard to say. I did spend £50 on 6 new ones this year which is not like me!

£6 - that's 3x£2 - one for each child.

£59 😳 I never thought to add them up, £20 Lego advent calendar £20 Thomas advent calendar, £5 haribo calendar and £7 Cadbury one, £4 Quality street one and a Reeses one at £5......That’s absurd I’m disappointed in myself!

Well I am doing a reverse advent calender each day we donate an item for the food back. So not couting the cost.

Genuinely stunned at how much some people have spent.

My dc have a £4 Cadbury heros one each.

I did buy a Lego one last year for about £20

I cut right back on advent calendars they got out of hand and took over the living room. The kids had Lego, Playmobil, smuggle, chocolate, even cereal. Now they have one chocolate one each.

I’ve got several reusable ones a China Snowman one, a nutcracker book set with a mini book for each day, a paper nativity one and a gramophone that plays different records each day. I prefer the fact they can be used every year.

£36 16yr daughter and I have playmobil ones.
Then the toys will be put in grandchildren’s playmobil house they have here.

Actually, Tell a lie my daughter has an extra one that cost £99 but she used her saved up subscription credits to buy it. It is a sensory box from a company she uses for her sensory aids and has double that value in products that she needs anyway.

£5. £1 for the dog, £2 for me and I bought my adult dd (who lives here) one too £2. Only because she’d start whinging if the dog got a calendar and she didn’t 🙄

I've got two beauty calendars. One was about £40 and the other was about £80

2 X Bonne Mamon jam ones, for me and mum £60
4 X cheese advent calenders for my 4 clients £32

For the kids its part of their xmas present and for my mum and clients, it IS their xmas present.

£2.50 for Ds2, plus a packet of sweets for DS1 who decided he is too old for advent calendars.

@formerbabe it’s a gift for each day of December - ranging from a malteaser reindeer up to pyjamas and Christmas bedding. If I think of the money we will save this year not being able to go to pantos and Santa’s grottos etc it’s not so bad!

I'm really surprised at what people spend on them tbh. And that people give multiple ones to each child.

£0. Found an unused Winnie the Pooh old-style one, i.e. no chocs, when I was clearing out a cupboard. I must have bought it for my nephew when he was little. He is now strapping 6ft 2"

3 bags of sweets to fill 24 Christmas baby socks we hang from a rail (for 3 kids). So I guess about a fiver overall.

I kind of forgot to get one this year. I had a wine one and a cosmetic one last year. I am still working my way through the cosmetic products, the wine one generated a lot of plastic waste so avoided this year. I had a Jo Malone one a few years ago and still have loads of perfumes left. Going to give them a skip from now on.
