Anyone not put up their tree yet?

Has anyone not put up their tree and decorations yet? We always put up the first weekend in December. I planned to do a big clean of the lounge (which I've been putting off) and we need to get everything down from the loft - the children really wanted o put it up though and now I feel a bit bah humbug seeing all the pictures on facebook of fully decorated trees.

Tree not up yet. We usually put it up on 10th, the evening before DDs birthday. When she was 2 it was magical. Not so much now she's 15!

bigbluebus · 30/11/2020 09:07

Won't be putting ours up for a couple of weeks at least - it's too early. I have put a wreath on the front door though (which is far earlier than I would usually do it).
From my house I can see at least 5 houses who have got trees/decorations up already.

Imissmoominmama · 30/11/2020 09:12

We always put ours up on 8th December- it’s an anniversary where we remember someone, and we have decorations which remind us of that person.

lazylinguist · 30/11/2020 09:13

Lots of people, I should think. I don't get mine until about the 15th.

Joswis · 30/11/2020 09:13

Nope. Up as late as possible. Down before the new year.

SleepingStandingUp · 30/11/2020 09:14

In theory tomorrow as I want it all up and the news sorted before 12th so I can get birthday decorations up but it'll be a few days work as I largely do it myself and have two babies to keep away from it

AuntieMarys · 30/11/2020 09:17

15th for us. Tree is still growing somewhere

Quornflakegirl · 30/11/2020 14:13

We tidied living room this weekend and are getting our tree this weekend. It usually goes up on the 15th but will be earlier this year.

loveliesbleeding1 · 30/11/2020 15:05

No,haven’t done ours yet and won’t till Sunday at the earliest.if we get a real tee then it’ll be the weekend after. The lights outside look really lovely in my neighbourhood but it’s just too early for me personally.

Parker231 · 30/11/2020 15:53

This thread has reminded me to check when our tree is being delivered. It needs to last until NYE. It’s usually delivered mid December. Must check the lights - last year we had unintended flashing lights!

Cherryrainbow · 30/11/2020 16:01

Later this week probably Thursday. The OH is a grinch and wont let me do it before December. That and he has to go into the loft to get everything out lol

JonHammIsMyJamm · 30/11/2020 16:06

Nope. It’ll go up second Sunday in Dec.

There are a few already to be seen through windows locally. They definitely get earlier and earlier every year and there’s an element of ‘wanting to get this year over with/cheer ourselves up’ this year, so I think there are more than ever going up pre Advent.

Lsquiggles · 30/11/2020 16:09

I usually do it December 1st but we have a toddler running round this year so I'm going to wait until she's in childcare on Thursday Grin

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 30/11/2020 16:12

We usually do it on the 16th December as its the day after DHs birthday. But we're planning on doing it Christmas eve after ds has gone to bed as this will be the first Christmas he is really aware of what's going on so we think it'll be a cute thing for him to wake up to the lounge all decorated for him.

KumquatSalad · 30/11/2020 16:24

Me. It’s not going up til mid December. Even if DH is worried there’ll be no trees left by then because everyone has decided to celebrate Christmas early this year.

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 30/11/2020 16:42

'Appalled' GrinMumsnet is hilarious. Move have been up just over a week and will be up until New Year's Eve most likely
Merry Christmas to all

Iamblossom · 30/11/2020 16:46

going up this weekend. It HAS to be December to have the Christmas tree up IMVHO

Bytheriogrande · 30/11/2020 16:48

Me, it's being delivered on the 11th and will go up on the 12th. I always like the idea of putting the tree up more than actually doing it tho!

I've got some new room decorations being delivered this week so they'll go straight up when they arrive. Not got much to look forward to at the moment so looking forward thatSmile

Parker231 · 30/11/2020 17:09

@JonHammIsMyJamm - we don’t follow Advent but have our own traditions as when is the right for the tree to go up and down. Usually it’s decorated the weekend before Christmas and then as Christmas is over then, down on NYE ready for the start of the next year. (And the decorator is coming on 4 Jan so want everything cleared up and out of the way).

NoWordForFluffy · 30/11/2020 17:19

I’m enjoying the pearl-clutching and competitive late-decorating on this thread. grin

Me too!

Advent began yesterday, so any trees put up up from yesterday aren't pre-Advent.

I find it amusing how faux-horrified people seem to be at what other people do with their trees. 😂🎄😂🎄😂🎄😂🎄

Creepertime · 30/11/2020 17:28

Tree will be going up at the weekend but I’ve started doing bits and bobs now so it doesn’t feel a massive task

Parker231 · 30/11/2020 17:35

It’s Sinterklaas first so I need a serious session of present wrapping in the next day or so.

Couldn't care what others do. Ours goes up late and comes down early because I bl**dy hate Christmas. Only decorate for GS really. Didn't bother at all before he was born.
soddingkitten · 30/11/2020 23:15

You and me both. In fact we're not even risking a proper tree at all. We're having a hanging thing in the window. Which they'll probably use as a rope ladder.

You mean DEFINITELY use as a ladder, there’s no probably about it.
